Tough being a part of ROI
by heaven on Sep 23, 2008 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

The good news is that we have a problem of a plenty! So much talent to test and only one Irani trophy and only one ROI team to squeeze them all in. Real pity!
While in Delhi, the blokes get a better chance to get noticed; Nehra, Chopra...they better put all this good exposure to some use!

This is Indian cricket for you:

Ohja will be sitting on the bench, when he is the brightest left arm prospect that we have...morons really! He should play!

the saddest part about our country is that selections take place on influence more than merit

not really, since IPL selections have been more deserving. More players are getting opportunities.

Ojha will most likely play in board presedents IX see cricinfo.

Left arm orthodox bowler just bowling at same pace and line. He is no bright prospect but another predictable bowler

yes ...that too senior boyz like to bat than bowl.Easier than the latter.
Previously I asked boyz here how many of you can run 1500 mtrs in Double the time of World record. every body was mum
but that makes them good critics of any sport on this earth. Coming to Australia they play so many games in hockey now we are nowhere near them.
I read somewhere in Netherland only three villages have hockey grounds & players still they beat us. Frankly we dont have sports culture.

Lets face the truth guys....

While agreeing that all good things have to come to an end, it would be worth noticing one hard fact. Its been ages since Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly entered the cricket scene. But how is it that not even one youngster has been able to remotely challenge their position in terms of performace so far..?
Even in ODI's Sachin after 2 decades is still considered to be the best. Only Yuvraj seems to the one who can claim his spot that too in ODI'S. In tests, still there is hardly anyone who can stake a rightful claim. And this after so much of hype about cricket in media, youngsters devoting so much time, energy, money and resources towards training. In tests, only Sehwag can claim the same kind of success. So its not without reason that these people are still there without being challenged to their places. Still like to know the name of one younster who can claim to be a righful replacement...

None. Agreed. The Fab Four, even in their current form are still the Fab Four.
good observation

Arey Shetty saab.....you dont need to name 'one youngster'...there are hordes of them waiting in the wings! And FYI, even a Tendulkar, did not know he would be 'Tendulkar-the master batsman' when he started out, so your question is a lacks logic! A person has to make his cricketing career by performing....and thats what we should expect from the youngsters! Not looking for 'replacements' and 'substitutions'....Dhoni and his young bridage have proved repeatedly that today's fast paced version of the game is for youngsters....so one has to nuture raw talent and make them world beaters....its no use comparing...
The fab four or fab five; were masters in their own right, but age is the factor being discussed now. Its time to blood the guys waiting in the wings!!
Get it bloke?

yaar. Mathew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey..they all got the place for thier performance only. Aus cricket has not thrown away by telling they are not youngsters. We have to give similar chances to our guys also..Both sachin and VVS Laxman are younger than Hayden and of almost equal age of ricky and Hussey. How does it make any difference whether they are above 33 or below than that as along as they performing. The moment their performance goes down..they need to be shown the door..thats all. But as far as this year statstics are concerned (in tests) most of the Fab four record is good.

hi,
the biggest thing is that do we have any replacements,
last time i checked, the only indian batsmen who average over 40 in tests are ganguly, dravid, tendulkar, laxman, sehwag and remember now the benchmark should be 45 as batting is easier and only dravid, sehwag, tendulkar qualify in that category
u have to remember that we are not one hell of a sporting team that we can drop anybody
we only have limited players
we have to do with them
there is no other option

have had a few serious relationships but they have not worked out for several reasons including family opposition and a difference in lifestyle and perspective. Currently, I am seeing a guy from my office. He has not made any commitment. Ilove him a lot. Is there a future for this relationship? Will he commit or do I have to make the first move? Will I have a love or an arranged marriage
