VVS Laxman
by rajagopal nambakam on Nov 11, 2008 04:54 PM

Everyone including who gave list of Laxman's centuries, seem to have forgotten his most recent 200 not out against Australia. One news paper quoted that "Australians can not tolerate any player scoring 100 against them but when Laxman scores Centuries or runs, they are just mesmorized and do not show any of their normal intimidating tactics (believed by many) because it is Australians who gave him the name "Very Very Special VVS Laxman) Yes, he is definitely a class batsmen.

I always like the style and scores made by seniors!
by RS Iyer on Oct 08, 2008 07:52 PM

I always like the elegance of our senior players but there was consistancy missing in them. I wished they could have done better against Ajantha Mendis and Muralidaran. Losing and winning doesnot matter but winning or lossing after a fight is more convincing. With recent Srilanka tour we should have handled Spin bettter, a lot better and to lose a series for srilanka's spin ... I am very unconvinced..
Well thats life and thats cricket!!
Best of luck for the new series..

old is gold

Though our senior players had not performed well in the Sri Lanka series, we cannot say they are useless. Still we have to wait for next series. Even Sehwag was bad performer for many matches but he regined the form. Let the seniors decide themself when to retire. They have very good experience and let the Old give Gold to Indian cricket.

laxman good against australia
by rohan chatterjee on Sep 20, 2008 02:36 PM

the stats are a testimony to the fact that laxman has performed at his best against the best.
invariably australia brings the most wrist and impossible shots from laxman's kitty
the 167,281,178,148.
all the innis are pure spetacle of poetry in motion. it was near foolis to not include sehwag against pakistan as he is god against them(309,173,201,254)
similarly laxma is the emesis of australia
this series may be another platform for the "LAXMAN SHOW"

Laxman plays only for his place
by Effortless on Sep 14, 2008 11:26 PM  | Hide replies

In recent tests, Laxman seems to be playing only for his place in the team. He scores one or two fifties to secure his place in the team and does not go on to make a big one. Moreover he does not know how to play with the tailenders, something a batsman at #6 should know. He takes single off the 1st ball and exposes the tailenders to play majority of the over

Very very casual statement .Laxaman may not be a heavy scorer like Sachin or Dravid in the past but he is class player and countless times it has been explained batting at six he gets little time to score big runs but still he has managed to contribute to wins.
He is quiet unassuming and non contoversial and that is why selectors find it convenient to drop him at the drop of the hat .
On the other hand Ganguly is a manipulator ,if that is called shrewdness,
vain and willining dump his benefactors for his selfish ends .Laxman the poor man was a threat to him as a player and any number of times he has tried to undermine his place .Greg has read him well and given his share of advise .
He is political animal he would do well in ploitics .Better for him to make an honourable exit.
Dont compare Ganguly with Laxman a thorough gentleman.

First of team a team should not depend on its tail getting runs. When the top order and the middle order collapses there is not much Laxman can do at #6 when the tail consists of hotheads like Sreesanth, Zaheer and Harbhajan.

Good work.We dont have to associate wins only with centuries but the contribution by an individual player when the chips are down. Can you analyse test by test win against each country and assess the contribution of individual players .It is not blame any body but to assess the test of character.
