Sehwag is gr8 ..... no doubt
by MILIND GHUBLE on Sep 03, 2008 10:20 PM

If you can look at the concluded srilanka series closely .... you will see the FEAR of getting out on all the Indian batsmans except for one .......... i.e. ........... Viru and for some extent Gautam Gambhir ...... The rest are all feared of his bowling, clearly we can see that ..... even when we watched it ..... we felt that he might get out on the next ball ..... That kind of feeling was mine about all the Indian batsmans except those two ..... and I think that is what separates him from others ..... do agree that he do not perform in all the matches ...... but tell me who does ..... but one difference if u ask me between him and rest is that "the rest too can score runs but the opposition always felt that they have the chance to win and when Viru plays he just demoralizes the opposition.... make them weak". He did prove his ability too as there is no one crossing the two digit nos. in Srilanka, he crossed the 200 mark .... I don't think we need to give any kind of proof of his abilities ..... Viru is simply gr8 and best and we're lucky to have him in our team

its one of the funniest comment i have heard..how many overs do u want mr.mendis? ask the ICC to allow you to bowl 20 overs in a one day match!!!!chances are you will be first bowler to give away 150 runs in an odi...and dont you worry ur list of "toughest batsmen to bowl to" will increase with time..

He lived up to his hype
by Raman on Sep 03, 2008 10:07 PM  | Hide replies

Yea he maybe overhyped
Yea players might sort him out in a few years
Yes we won the Odi series
Still Mendis ruled the series
26 wickets in 3 tests and 13 in 5 Odis was a stellar performance, just remember if he was Indian u guys wont call it hype,u will call it the future shane warne or even better

When warne bowled Gatting they called it ball of the century and no one said a word like oh Warne might be sorted in future..so we dont know whats in store for Mendis future..so lets admit he performed brilliantly and not be the sore losers u guys r being here..
The biggest hype is Yuvraj, who wants test spot when he cant even keep his ODI spot and his father wants him to be captain.

Sehwag toughest Indian batsman to bowl to: Mendis
by Ajit Bajpai on Sep 03, 2008 09:37 PM  | Hide replies

Yes Sehwag can butcher any bowler inthe world on a given day.
Mendis is talking big about sachin's weakness.
He is lucky that Sachin not at his best with nagging back and elbow injuries. Else Mendi's career would have been wrapped by Sachin in that seriesitself. Sachin's only weakness are his injuries, due to which he is not able to play all his shots. Yet he finds place in playing 11. Great

If Sachin is injured, he shouldn't play.Sachin is not like salt, that it should be added, atleast a bit, in all dishes.

One thing, Indian celebrities have not learned is to bow out with grace, except may be Gavaskar. They just hang in till all their good memories in fan's minds are replaced by curse and swear words.

he cant play the shots due to injury!!! at least he can defend the wkt, if he cant play shots! injury cant b an excuse for his flop show. only thing v can say is that he may b out of form.
but dont drag inury in between. if he is injured, dont select him.

sachin is good against genuine pacers and spinners..but it's usual he struggles against 50-50 bowlers..to make a point ian harvey, chris harris, mahroof and nw mendis.

Too much Cricket

We have too much cricket. We need to limit cricket to not more than 3-4 months and make some room for other sports.

Dnt think that u can term Mendis a CHAMPION bowler. He has to go a very long way to prove that.In ODI's bowling first, he was not effective at all.He has to bowl well on pitches in Australia, SA, consistently to come anywhere near becmng a Champion.

13 wickets in 5 odis and still he wasnt effective at all...wow...hypocricy at its best,.
Agreed we won the ODI series but 3-2 isnt all that great, losing the test series 2-1 is worse than a 3-2 win cause winning 1 test isnt equal to winning 1 odi..
Mendis might be sorted out in future but right now he did have the upper hand in the series.
26 wickets in 3 tests and 13 in 5 odis not to mention that 6 wicket haul against us in that finals of asia cup..so its clear he has won his first battle fair and square..

I Think Sehwag is the most dangerous and match winning player india have evr seen...even though he clicks in 25% match that match he wins for India, rest of matchs other players need to click...

Mendis is just another bowler
by vickyforyou on Sep 03, 2008 08:19 PM  | Hide replies

I think the greatest ever spinner or probably bowler that played cricket is Shane Warne , if Indian batsmen can play him , then this moron mendis is nothing. He is still a bachha and he will get proper beating in next series. Just wait an watch !!

Mendis success is just a fluke !!!! He is an ordinary bowler who got taste of success by chance and mere luck. He will be getting kicks in A$$ very soon.

IF his success is a fluke then our world cup win in 1983 was a fluke as we didnt win it since then and we got butchered by Widnies 3-0 in tests and 5-0 in odis right after the wcup.
Just admit that Mendis had the upper hand on our fab four in the Tests and 13 wickets in ODIS is no mean achievement...

i disagree, mendis is not a ordinary bowler.he uses his middle fingure for all type of deliveries with similar action..pretty tough to read him.

anyone remember Narender Hirwani ?? Remember how he started his career and what was his fate after that. Similar will happen to this moron Mendis , he will be reduced to an ouster soon from Sri Lankan team and will be playing county or club cricket ..
