Ajantha Mendis want to BOWL 30 OVERS in ODI???????
by UmaShankar SathyaKumar on Sep 03, 2008 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Mendis said the only reason why he failed to replicate his stupendous Test form in ODIs was the lesser number of overs he bowled in the shorter version of the game.

Does he want to BOWL 30 OVERS in ODI???????

In the test matches he took wickets almost immediately he came in, but not in ODI's. Again once a batsman settles it is becomes easier for a batsman to play any bowler. So for him to say that he was not successful in ODI because he bowled lesser number of overs does not wash. Although our media and superstars might claim that we have the best batting line up in the world in tests, but the fact remains that they are well past their prime. In my view, the aussies have the best attacking batting in the world and they are very consistent. Mendis's real test would be against the aussies.

Somebody should remind him that history's greatest spinner Shane Warne once mentioned that he saw Sachin in his dreams where he is smashing his bowling...his time will come soon..!

Boss, no point in dwelling over the past. Sachin was at his prime when we hit warne all over the park. However, being a human being, one can't go on forever. Sachin has fitness problems, that is but natural and sadly has affected his performance and is now past his best...that is a fact.

The great Virender Sehwag
by Rajesh Bangad on Sep 03, 2008 06:59 PM  | Hide replies

No doubt he is India's mixture of Sir Don Bradman and Sir Vivian Richards. But he is badly neglected by selection committe and Dhoni
whom he thinks as threat to his captaincy.

Couldn't agree more. He is more vintage and orthodox. Its a classic to watch him.

Sehwag is one the greatest cricketers we have produced and the world has ever seen. Unfortunately in india our media and the fomer superstars have not given him credit for his performance. Had he been in australia they wd have called him a don bradman.

I saw Sehwag batting in the Adelaide test match earlier this year. His innings not only gave Indian total respectability and eventually draw the match, but he made batting look so easy when everyone around him was failing.
I have never seen Don Bradman play, but in my time I have seen some truly great batsmen and Sehwag is joint first with Viv Richards.
In my teens I used to long for the encounters between Richards and Australian bowlers in Australia.
These days, there is nothing more magical than Sehwag creaming Australian bowlers in their own backyards - simply breathtaking.
Sachin has played many great knocks but they have never been the murderous types played by Richards or Sehwag.

Its all in the Mind. This Guy was over hyped by both Indian and Other Cricketing media. He is just bowling tight line and length. Thats it. No more than that. Indian batting didn't apply themselves or rather careless.

But not all bowlers got this much hype. Indian batsmen always made great contributions to career growth of opponent bowlers.

Ohh ok..Kapil got 434, kumble got 616..it means that other countries batsmen contributed for the career growth of these two right..

Mendis.....
by Anurag Rathore on Sep 03, 2008 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

Most overhyped player of world cricket.
He is good but not as good that playing against him is impossible. He took the name of Sehwag and Dhoni. But he doesn't know about players like Dravid, Sachin and Laxman. He is trying to judge them only basis of one series and thinks he knows the weakness of Sachin and other indians.

Boss, sachin and company knew him and would have watched his vedios before the test series started. What did they do? Even after 6 innings they could not face him, leave along master him. Mendis real test wd be agains the aussies.

Absolutely i agree with you. Sachin i his career got out to so many bowlers..That doesn't mean that all those people identified his weakness..If i remember correctly..Sachin got out to mendis only once in this series..

we do certainly give him the credit...but the point is that he claims that he understands weakness of Sachin by just picking him once or twice..this is what debatable

He needs all 50 overs?
by Reddy on Sep 03, 2008 06:48 PM

I think this guy needs all 50 overs to get all 10 wickets. He should learn to admit that Indian picked him well in ODI series.
