Even if one chooses to discount his fielding skills, captaincy skills and the fact that he has won two world cups for his country, Ponting would be in the playing 11 of any team in the world for his batting skills alone.
He is a match-saver, a match-winner, he HIMSELF has rarely been involved with spats and dirty sledging (a little heat is always welcome).
Just cuz the Australians are generally regarded as dirty players, sledgers and whatnot, people are accusing Ponting of things he doesn't deserve.
A little respect, folks. Ponting is an asset to Australia. So much so, the moment India gets Ponting, aussies are on the backfoot instantaneously.
He is their dravid, mr. consistent, their sachin, the record breaker, their ganguly, captain material, their laxman, the stylist.

Sunil Gavaskar seems to be the only person who understands the unfair cut given by Chris Broad, the match referee on Zaheer. No doubt, zaheer has spoken something to hayden. But, what was Ponting doing when Sehwag stood his ground for an edge. Why he was not pulled-up.
Similarly, bret lees offensive gestures to ishant sharma too went unnoticed.
As i posted yesterday, even the indian media is not focusing on the aussie arrogance and raising their voice against it, not withstanding the fact that they all profit from cricket due to team india.
Team India should lodge its strong protests and end this racist regime in the world cricket

Very right. y does the media stay mum ? end of the 1st test, we had the australian media's quotes as they were unhappy with saurav's way of playing (delaying as per them) cos they couldn't force a win. our media should also be doing the same thing, highlighting the aussies follies. Instead, we r busy according them a grand welcome & being extra nice to them, giving them 7-star facilities (as was done by a so called mr. lalit modi). Y ? may i ask ? be hospitable, yes, but we cdon't need to fall over each other to make these chaps happy. Can anyone recall any other country doing the same to us ? n especially the aussies !!! during the historic 2001 series in India, in the bombay test, when michael slater was so rude to umpire Venkataraghavan (a very well respected umpire), what was done, nothing. Y ??? so many questions. back our boys people. u give the aussies their own medicine n they start whining. what does mr. hayden do standing in the slips ? its anyone's guess. y whine mr. Hayden, when u r being paid back in ur own coin ??? since no one has been standing up to these aussies, n thats y the r so arrogant. n now, with this Indian team, they r being shook out of their slumber, n thats what surprising them. CHAK DE INDIA. beat these aussies black n blue. Australia, no doubt r a good cricketing team, but behaviour-wise, they r the worst. very poor losers.

Yes...it's strange as to how the Aussies keep getting away with these actions while Indians get the punishment. And more so when Borad happens to be the Match Referee.

In Zaheer's case Hayden complained to the umpire and they gleefully forwarded the same to the referee who lost no time in penalizing Zaheer. Maybe Indians should have complained against Haddin too and it would have been interesting to see the coach's response.
But all guys celebrating today, moreso the indian journos, who are after the fab 5, please note that if they go,India will be like the Australian team today. The difference is, Aussies has been the no 1 test side for ages, whereas, India is just arrived. We need the services of Fab 5 for few more years to wear the crown of No 1 test side for some time.
DADA, please do not retire, we need you. Same goes for other memebers of fab 5. Please do not throw it all away, just when it all starts to happen.
COnsistent youngsters should be rewarded, but to replace 5 of them at a go will be inviting disaster.
