ausis main worry is they hv failed to find one good replacement for warne after his retirement.
at least v can say that v need not worry when kumble retires as v hv good talents with us like mishra. only thing is v hv to keep confidence in him n nurture him.

Well on the discussion board heard alot of people saying Australia will hold out and make this a draw! Where are those people right now?

Anyway even though India won I think a few older players got to really ask themselves the question do they have what it takes to perform and do justice representing India and not play on for their personal interests! Kumble should be the first to ask himself that question.

But collectively as a team, India was great in this TEsT!

Australia fearing Team India
by Manian Vasudevan on Oct 21, 2008 07:31 PM  | Hide replies

Kudos to Team India. They have tamed the mighty Australians, despite all their loud talking. Yet again the Indians have done it. India is the only Team to disturb the winning sequence of Australia. Though Indians are not winning Series against Australia, they are repeatedly upsetting the Australians now and then.

Seniors or Juniors - no question. It is INDIA which matters in the end. I wanted to see the face of Shane Watson after the conclusion of this Mohali moments. Where he will keep his mouth (what he said 'we can win even 450 or around that - ultimately the Australians did not reach even half that score). Pity Watson. Pity Australians.

We defeated Australians in the last edition fo VB Series in Australia. Tendulkar player a pivotal role there. Here again in Mohali, it was Sachin who stabilized the boat when India were struggling at one point. Any of you watched the wonderful catch he took and the subsequent reaction of Sachin. It showed the deep involvement, commitment, enthusiasm - which are still there, despite the longvity of hie career, spanning around 20 years. Kudos Sachin.

Sorry. I forgot to mention the great effort of the Indian bowlers. Ine years gone by, India used to charm the visitors with pitches doctored to suit their spinners. Now, we defeated the Aussies with a combination of wonderful and superb pace and spin bowling. Kudos to Indian bowlers too.

with complete team effort. everybody contributed. only thing one has to admit that dhoni is the luckiest capt.
only plus for dhoni's captaincy is that he gives good encouragement to newcomers like mishra to perform better.

Where is our yonger batsmen???
by Manoj Joseph on Oct 21, 2008 06:24 PM

I was expecting a rotation of senior batsmen for at least two of our younger batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina to replace Laxman and Ganguly in the third test and Tendulkar and Dravid sitting out in the forth. Keeping these seniors all together will not provide any of those youngsters the "feel" of test cricket!

Dhoni has set a level for WK's of India.....
by Anurag Rathore on Oct 21, 2008 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni has set a too high standard for a wicketkeeper batsman in indian cricket like Gilly and Sangakara set for world. All the current and former wicketkeepers of India are far behind from him.
No competition for him. His criticizers are comparing him to Sachin, Dravid like legends while he is wicketkeeper. It is great honour for him. Gilly has given him appreciation by saying 'I will pay to watch his bat'.
Great going. Keep it up.

India should have atleast two teams to play test cricket. There are many promising players, who do not get to play because you can choose only 14- 16.

I am sure we can find another 20 atleast in this nation of billion, who can be as good as any international side.

Dhoni cheats !!
by JayaKumar R on Oct 21, 2008 05:39 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly stood longer and created ground for India. Dhoni contributed very well too. But Indian captain was cunning enough, not to force follow on. If he had forced follow on, India would have never played second Innings because Aussies did not cross the first inning total itself. That would have made Ganguly the hightest scorer and only centurian. Any team would have forced follow on and continued bowling to take advantage for last 15 overs in low light, but India deliberately avoided to prevent giving man of the match to Ganguly the captain with patriotism.

This is management my dear. He visionized the pitch is supporting batsmen on 3rd day. So he opted for batting. Aussies would have batted well if htey were facing follow on because of that and the fact that they have no other options means Aussies reply stronger.
