dirty politics
by Ram Prashad on Mar 22, 2008 08:44 AM

Kaif should be selected against South Africa in the forth coming series as he has perform very very well in the last whole season. Why so much chance to Sehwag. Just he has political support???? Kaif and other player should be given chance to fill the place of Ganguly,Laxman, Dravid, and last Tendulkar as they will be retiring in near future. Many young players are ignored just because of the Sehwag. what he can do he plays in an inning in total of 50 innings and he secured the place again. I thik kaif should be given a chance who had performed very well in the last season. As a captaing he took UP to Final, he also won the series leading India A and last but not least now in Deodhar Trophy he has performed well and his team Central Zone too.Its just he is been ignored as Dhoni knows he is capable of taking his place as a Captain and the same dirty politics he played with Ganguly too.

Will IPL succeed?
by CricFan01 on Mar 18, 2008 10:59 PM

They are expecting this to be on lines of EPL where fans support their club teams. Will it happen in India? Ishant Sharma is playing for Kolkatta so would Delhites support the local team of Kolkatta team? Time will only tell. In the long term, as T20 gets more popular test cricket will become part of history because the youngsters will be brought up on T20 as it gives them more money and instant fame. So why would anyone choose to take a longer route to achieve the same?

National Game Cricket???when
by RC on Mar 17, 2008 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

Either the ever error prone Rediff wanted to put words in to shuklas mouth or shukla is a ignorant or a person who disrespects other sports...i quote the text above "Most of the Indian cricketers come from lower middle class families. They rise from humble backgrounds. What prohibits the national game from making money?"

Now are we going to have a debate on whether cricket is a national game or not?

Lighten up, dont try to find mistake in everything! We dont need a legislation to make cricket the national game. If a sport is followed by the majority it becomes the "national game". It was hockey till the 80s, now its cricket.
