While we rejoice the "break-even" phenomenon in the Indian cricket after so many years of One day cricket and such a lot of money flowing all around with regards to cricket, would just like to know.. What are the win vs losses percentage of other ODI playing nations.. especially the ones above India in the table?
Can we have a simple revenue vs wins comparison of BCCI( year-wise for BCCI in this regard as well? This can be backed with the same statistics from "Cricket Australia" or "Pakistan Cricket Association" or even the Caribbean Cricket Board... South Africa would be an unfair comparison in this regard one opines..

RE:DATA EXCLUDING MINNOWS
by Apple on Jun 30, 2008 02:46 PM
Why ?Will the other big teams also exclude their wins against minnows in determining their win loss ratio?
Thank God for the Minows in cricket. If miniows like Bangaladesh, UAE, Hongkong, Irland, Netherland, Canada, Walesh, Nabibia, Kenya, even Zimbabwe...etc this equation would have been telling you a quit a sorry story. It applies for Sri-Lanka as well.

With England on the Downhill, will soon have lost more matches than it has won, with difference only 1(one). All Time Records put India to 6th now, and will be 5th if India wins atleast two matches of remaing three in Asia Cup. However India Ranks Third in Most Wins after Australia and Pakistan.

Dude just check the recent records than make any statement. Yea maybe this logic will apply to srilanka bcoz they play with minnows quite often but not to India.

Ganguly was more a dictator than a captain..Apart from WC'2003 his captaincy record was poor...

I Do agree on Saurav's deal. the best Captain & good leader. Only due to the politics his name got damaged.
RE:Ganguly Started it
by Neeraj Mahajan on Jun 30, 2008 02:29 PM
Forget it. Ganguly had always been self centered and egoistic person. Rahul Dravid was far superior to him on all counts but unfortunately was victim of some bad BCCI politics..
RE:Ganguly Started it
by shaketh on Jun 30, 2008 02:27 PM
Ganguly was a useless old bugger who did more politics than playing cricket. He not only flops in batting but is one of the worst fielders - this would demotivate the entire team when a captain cannot field well. In contrast to captains who were good fielders like Azar, Dhoni ..

wat do u mean by politics. what dhoni did to dravid and ganguly is the same trick. when u r to hold the responsibility of the game, u need to take decisions

Yes. Dada only scored more runs in ODI and he scored fastest 7000,8000,9000 runs & 2nd fastest 6000 & 10000 runs in ODI.

You Dada ke Chamche log, why are u scared to talk about his fielding? He was a Sissy in fielding!!!!
RE:Ganguly Started it
by Madhusudhanan Nagaraja on Jun 30, 2008 02:44 PM
attitude talks more than the game itself. but for very few real talented players, the game has always been about how u handled the situations. so i presume sourav was still a very good captain, the same holds good for dhoni aswell.

No u r right...sreeshanth shud be captain & harbhajan vice captain... if sreeshanth makes a mistake then bhajji will SLAP him..he is used to it....& Mike Tyson shud be the new coach instead of Kirsten...jai south indian...jai bharath...jai pagal..jai BYLONER...

Why are you making sound in Dessets..... can't understand... i think you are totally unknown about cricket.
Dear Rediff percentage calculators... Kindly learn to decide numerator, denominator and then calculate percentage. IF THERE ARE MATCHES WITH NO RESULT, THEY SHOULD BE EXCLUDED WHILE CALCULATING WIN % while for TIE it will be included in denominator. I HOPE YOU WILL LEARN TO CALCULARE WIN% NOW...
RE:Gross mistake in calculation of WIN %
by sk on Jun 30, 2008 02:18 PM
Pyare Sardarji,
This is how the normal %ages are being worked out. How can you exclude "ties" by the way. Even, the cancelled matches cannot be excluded, coz officially, they were the played matches.
Any case, the win/lose ratio has to be on the "total matches played" basis and not on some "arrived" number.
Can someone tell if any of the former captains have even dared to win a cup or a tri series overseas (especailly on fast tracks)??? But DHONI did it...and most importantly is not short tempered like Dravid or Ganguly
RE:For DHONI bashers
by debal bag on Jun 30, 2008 02:13 PM
Sir, I think you miss the 25th year celebration of our world cup victory. Former captain Kapil Dev proudly announces the entire team learned how to win a match from Sunil Gavaskar whom the young generation cannot think fit for any version of limited over match.......... forgot about T20. The record provided is really a very very long waited one. But donot under estimates anybody. The record is a combined effort by all who played and playing for INDIA.May be in the early stages we won rearly, but loss on that time was a way of learning for current ones.
RE:For DHONI bashers
by chandramouli sankaraseshan on Jun 30, 2008 02:11 PM
Kapil did it in England and Gavaskar did it in Australia...and offcourse Dhoni did it this year.Dhoni also won the T20 in SA
RE:For DHONI bashers
by dilip vig on Jun 30, 2008 02:13 PM
he is an allrounder, he kept wickets, captained brilliantly, trusted his instincts in blooding players like praveen kumar etc in crucial stages and also batted well as per the situation. If you have any other expectations from him, then you better go and play instead of him
RE:For DHONI bashers
by PRANABENDU BHATTACHARYA on Jun 30, 2008 02:31 PM
Its not a fight between dhoni or ganguly...Ganguly identified the youngsters with indian cricket team...dhoni has made them even better...it doesnt demean dravid or ganguly's contribution...Dhoni is the best thing that happened to indian cricket now...ganguly & dravid werre the same in their era...He is the best bet to take indian cricket to new heights...Its a continuos process..U got to understand this...

yeah after 83 we won in autralia..but this try series was tendulker magic show..nothing there in captaincy..(as everybody know he is a avarage captain)
RE:For DHONI bashers
by Tushar kant on Jun 30, 2008 02:24 PM
U cynic now u say that tendulkar should be the caption and once he will become u'll start abusing him too. U behave like mob not as an literate
Come on people, dont countries like aus, south africa or eng play against bangladesh, kenya, zimbabwe?? If u want 2 deduct matches played against these countries from India's tally then remove the same from other countries also... South africa just finished an ODI series against banglades 3-0!!
give the credit to each n every cric player who has contributed in this record over so many years...
RE:Great going.. now continue the good work

Yes, Aus has lost against Bangladesh and India also does lose against Bangladesh. What's your point?
