Courier Mail article
by Auzzie Mite on Jan 20, 2008 08:30 PM

If this article talks in that fashion, then should we add that the Aussie players should share their pay cheques with the biased match refereeing of Mike Procter and the disproportional number of wrong decisions made by Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson. Not to mention their own Malcolm Speed who heads the supposedly "weak-kneed bunch of administrators" of the International Cricket Council.
They should share their pay cheques with their bullying officials back home, the weak-kneed administrators at the International Cricket Council and certain members of the media who have taken every opportunity to put the knife into the Aussies since this series began

Aussie sour grapes- media rubbish!
by Srinivasan Krishna on Jan 20, 2008 07:33 PM  | Hide replies

Please read my earlier Aussie Sour grapes- Difficult to swallow their own medicine.
I felt it necessary to make these points, which are true and which must be noted if other teams need to succeed in world of cricket!
Firstly, the Australian team has straddled world cricket for such a long time. They were are still the champion side, and are undisputed no.1 team.
You cannot win 16 tests in a trot, if otherwise.
You cannot win 3 consequetive world cups otherwise, either!
It will be very very stupid, to believe their domination has benn mainly due to their sledging and the umpires support- albeit due to their intimidating appealing.
The fact is a team comprising, Hayden, Langer, Martyn,Ponting, slater, waughs, Gilchrist, Mcgarth, warne, Gillespie, Brett Lee have been a formidable wiing unit to which were recently added the class of Hussey,Symonds,Clark, johnson, clarke etc.
Their second wind is developing, but sadly for this champion side, they do not seem to have unearthed a replacement for the great Warne & Mcgarth. One can see in Lee & Clarke the talent, but not the consistency of Mcgarth.
This is reflected in their medias laments after the Perth defeat, where they clerly feel the time has come to be counted among the best, but not being the best!
All teams may downrate this Aussie team at their own peril!
Other teams have unearthed enough talent nad strategy to challenge this Champion side.
( I will refrain from commenting on their behaviour and sledging!)

I agree with the points that you make about the reasons for their success. You might agree with me though on the fact that except for Melbourne, the other two tests were keenly contested. With slightly better umpiring standards, India could have drawn or maybe even won the Sydney test. No point in looking back at that though now. Hope India can be inspired by their Perth performance and pull it off again at Adelaide. That will be a true measure of their improvement. Like the way they have challenged the Aussies so far though, except if we were to treat the Melbourne test as a acclimitasation exercise.

Indian teams in the past have won a test match only to lose the immediat next.
Basically the Indian batsmen have too much experience & under too much pressure to hold their places, with young talent snapping at their heels.
exception of sachin, whose commitment and form has been above board, the sauravs the dravids and the laxmans have been struggling. That they have clicked with Laxman batting beautifully is a tribute to the young pretenders in India.
The Indian team has been chipping away at the Aussie team since the 20-20 world cup and the 6 match ODI series. The young India brigade gave back as good as they got & kept up the pressure.
Sreesanth personifies this trend and his histrionics really got the goat of the aussie team.
the other thing in favour of the Indian team is except for Brett Lee and his experience ( Not consistency though) no other bowler could really trouble the Indian batsmen. If you will see the replay, mostly the Indian batsmen ( the top four that is) threw away their wickets, rather than getting out by good bowling.
I hope they keep up their intensity, which will be what that gives them their advantage & good show in this series.
whether you call Melbourne acclimitation excercise or not, the fact remains that was the first competitive cricket they palyed in the series!Typically the BCCI is to blame for such stupid schedules.
anyway, Indian cricket will deliver exciting teams and performances in future for sure.
I am not sure about Adelaide th

If india loses our media will make a big hue and cry. Infact they cant digest and will never mind praising the opponents instead keep focussing on the defeat of our team and show as if life has come to an end. I think we ppl have to praise good performances irrespective of which country they belong to, cricket has to live.
Just because one person has written something (colman)doesnt mean the whole world is against
us.
See gavaskar being in ICC he always follows double standards..will our media question his integrity in this regard. It will never...thats what our mentality is.

Bold decision from Indian selectors in selecting India ODI team!!!!!
by Notout_Naveen on Jan 20, 2008 07:06 PM

It was high time that India needed to concentrate on youngsters looking beyond the performance of seniors & looking into the future of Indian cricket team.

To support youngsters is a good move particularly considering that they have won a T20 world cup to India. It would be unfair to young cricketers if they dont get a chance even after there splendid performance in domestic cricket.

Its the right time to groom them with Sachin in the team and playing againest Australia n Srilanka ( champions and runners up of 2007 ODI world cup ) in Australia, which would give them an exposure and experience of hard cricket.

Starting of the new calender year( 2008) was an opt time to take this decision which selectors have taken it which is a good thinking and a bold decision.

indian media biased
by mastermind on Jan 20, 2008 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Hi guys indian media is always biased. Dialy I keep reading AGE, Australian, sydney morning herald. Almost all the newspapers are very fair in praising good performances of India. Remember they never hesitated to condemn their own players after sydney event. they also went to the extent of sacking Ricky ponting.
Our media has to come out of local level and think globally.
I am from bangalore but i dont mind dravid being dropped, y r bengalis wasting their time on such issues...he is not going to feed them after getting selected

Aussie Sour grapes- Difficult to swallow their own medicine!
by Srinivasan Krishna on Jan 20, 2008 06:56 PM

It is to be expected! Aussie media had always supported their players and their strategy to the hilt.
I mentioned earlier today that, a sort of backfire was felt by the Aussie & that their 1st inings batting was out of charecter. One has to only look at their batting and determination, as a champion side in the second innings.
Mike Colmans cmmnets are in very bad taste. On the one hand it tacitly admits that without their normal sledging team australia are only half as effective & on the other he talks of Indian team benefitting from the rich BCCI backing bullying the ICC.
The fact is the Australian strategy in Sydney to put pressure on Indians by their racial abuse complaint, effectively backired on them.
It was also assisted by some horrendous umpiring.
India won many a session despite the umpires in Sydney and it was a pity that we lost.
Team india has been chipping away at the Aussies from the 20-20 world cup & did not let up in the 6 match ODI series either. The youngsters gave back as good as they got.
Hats off to Sreesanth, whose histrionics really showed up how it feels, when an Aussie bowler gets back at you after taking your wicket. the same demoralising effect was demonstrated.
The current breed of Indin crickters are out to win and they will not take rubbish lying down.
Ultimate fact
Aussies could not resort to their normal sledging in Perth , as they had every reason to believe they will be reported! Their own Strategy backfiring!

what a brilliant performance..

i applaud the Indian team and Kumble for their famous victory in Perth. I'd also like to add to all those people out there who have trash talked and criticised Kumble for his reactions/decisions post-Sydney --- you guys can go to hell. If you think he was wrong, then you seriously know nothing.
