Charlie..

Australia no doubt is a good team(not a great team by any stretch of imagination) but for you to mock an other team shows the typical australian arrogance...chops!!..I am not surprised at this as this what the world has been getting from australia nor can they expect anything better...As for the WACA test match, I would rather wait for the match to be completed before making ambitious comments about a walkover( after all the so called invincible australian team also lost to bangladesh, not so invincible after all huh!!) Wisely enough..I would refrain from commenting on the outcome of any tests in the future... so much for one of your comments on the "unintelligence" of indians...How intelligent to comment the outcome of a test even before it has happened...

Dear Duncan,
We do watch the match and then do the talk.
Everybody here is aware of the fact that media creates haywire these days.
Anyways for your information.
ponting wasn't given out once, then symonds not given out thrice in first innings itself.
i'll tell you the score. 1. 30, 2. 48, 3. something 100 .

see what difference it makes in a straight calculation.

then in India's second inning Dravid given out when he wasn't. After him the Ganguly's controversial dismissal.

Thats what I want to bring to your attention.
Anyways, its the history now.
Lets bet on the third test.
Someone said Indians will be out bellow 100 in first innings.
I bet you one of the Indian batsmans will score more than that in Perth.
You take my word.

they have not cheated.

i can understand your not happy with umpiring decisions (two the most), but that the umpire's decision. got nothing to do with Oz players.

others reasons are hearsay and gossips.

if you cant defend a 500 lead then dont blame anyone.

Why not ALL 10 wickets while you are at it.

Duncan,
Your nationality may not encorage to accept the facts.
As it is evident, the umpiring errors were so critical in the result of the match, where as many as 7 decisions went against the Indian team. Then, how do you expect a team to defend even a 500 score? I'm sure even OZs could have done the same thing (complaining against the umpires) in such a scenario.
Regarding the Harbhajan issue, nobody here deny the chances of him calling Symonds a "Monkey". However, how the match referee can ban him in the absence of any evidence and just going by the words of the complaining team? Definitely there is something smelling bad!

All accept OZ as the best team in both one dayers and tests (in Twenty20, it is India at present). However, it is a pity that this number one team has to resort to such cheap and unsportsmanlike behaviour on the ground to enforce their dominance...
It's even more pity that they still do not show the courage to accept what wrong they did on the ground not showing the will to correct themselves..!!
Is it true that OZ's gone mad over the fact that a team has challenged them in their own backyard? Ponting gone unhappy that he Harbhajan is assured of his wicket on most of the occassions?

Duncan is right. The Aussies are performing at about 75%- this incident has fired them up. With tait back in the team and on a super fast track in perth i would expect the Aussies to win in 3 days. I'm hoping 'honest ricky' wins the toss and puts India in to bat. lets hope that the indians arrive with a PAIR of batting gloves this time.

Is India Really Won the Battle?
by Manoj Joseph on Jan 09, 2008 02:16 PM

Though it looks like India have won a moral battle, it seems the real winner is Australia as they must be feeling great as their trick has played well..

I feel it was in Oz's intention to divert the concentration of the Indian team to such controversies, as they were really challenged by India in both the tests, though India lost on both the occasions. With ten days to go for the third test, they know a well-settled Indian Team can upset their marching to records and cause some problems for them. So far, they had one-sided contests (the last two series they played were home series against England (AUS won 5-0) and Srilanka (AUS won 2-0), most of the occasions declaring their innings after scoring heavily or even batting just once in the match.

For me it looked like OZs have ensured that the series will go ahead without posing more challenge to their teams%u2026.. However, since the problems looks sorted out earlier than expected, I hope the Indian team can concentrate more on the task in their hand, that is to play good cricket and at lest level the series!

Surprisingly, there were no talks about the failures of Indian team%u2026. Like the failures of Wasim Jaffer, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni in all the four innings, slow run rate maintained by the team, below average fielding, lack of intensity in the bowling, especially among the pacers, etc. I feel these are the areas the team and coaching staff need to concentrate rather than the attitude of OZ

Ok we may be its true, but have you seen the video of Ricky pointing showing his finger to give ganguly out towards umpire and he did the same.
what it should mean to you? nothing...where is the gentlemanship gone??or you want to say you people are cheater..your own country news paper have said that Ponting is not at all playing with sporting spirit, he wants to make record. Otherwise you have seen the catch he took..i think you are redefining the rule of cricket.

its a hard game.things get said in the heat of battle.Every aussie skipper before Punter left it on the field.Kumble pleaded with him to do the same. Why did he break the sacred aussie code of "dobbing"?

This game could have been controlled.australia is by far and away the best cicket team in the world. They only need their own skills and will beat everybody 8 times out of 10.I dont think great australian Golfers, swimmers, athletes, tennis players ever'sledge".why do the cricketers do so..the rot was begun by that great australian batsman greg chappell(who came to haunt us too),when he asked trevor chappell to bowl underarm.Good thing Miller and Bradman are not around. It would have pained them.Pontings team has klet down the great Australian cricketing heritage...

the whole issue Champak revolves around whether harbhajan did or didn't call Symonds a monkey. The youtube video demonstrates that the man has a foul mouth. I am just fed up with the one-sided comments on this blog site. Most are unintelligent comments, some are OK but nearly all are simply seeing things from an indian perspective. Aussies are very annoyed that the BCCI seems to be hijacking this wonderful game due to their financial strength. Cricket is a tough game, the Aussies are winners-it isn't easy for them when they are challenged and many players have let themselves down in Sydney BUT the big issue is still harbhajan..i really do hope that he didn't say it but his history provides circumstantial evidence that he did. Let's just move on and play cricket in perth.

I think that Duncan and I have hit a raw nerve. We are providing the voice of reason. The initial post was about Harbhajan's swearing against England. That post was removed despite it simply telling people where to view the video of the incident. seems to me like a lot of Indians don't want to face up to the truth. No-one has called Indians unintelligent-some of the best minds in the world are Indians BUT you tend to see things through rose-coloured glasses and support your team despite the facts being that Harbhajan DID make some type of racial slur to Symonds. Australians are not arrogant, they are just very good at most things they do and have a society where equality and decency are paramount.

We faced up thr truth when India didn't reach the 2nd round of the WC.The public and media criticised them openly. We never supported our team when they played poor cricket and Indian public was the first to condemn them them for it. When you have evrey right to say that Bhajji did make a racial remark as if you yourself were present on the field, we have also every right to believe Sachin, who conducts himself with dignity on and off the field when he says that Bhajji is innocent.

So you can never say that we are taking one's side. The truth is truth. How come umpires' didnot heard and except ricky ponting , who is topping the cheating list( if u go by history , to win a match he can even sell himself), nobody else heard that.Tell me one thing is matthew Hadden who made a statement that he heard that harbhajan said a word starting with M, Is Hadden is uneducated to heard the full word Monkey. many indians use Australian universities as stepping stones..unfortunately you have overlooked one small issue, the fact that close to 600 million people in India live in poverty. You would expect that the benefits of globalisation would have helped to ease the rich/poor gap in your country but it hasn't. maybe if a few of the educated I.T Indians returned home and paid taxes then the gap would narrow...actually, its a bit like the gap between the quality of the australian cricket team compared to the Indian cricket team.

Charlie,
The problem is that all these years the Aussies thought that it was their privilege to abuse their opponents in the name of aggressive anc competitive cricket. Ask Srilankan, Indian,Pakistan and coloured cricketers of Aouth Africa. They started all this abuse on the field and let off scot free all these years with exception of Lehman. when they get it back they become cry baies and demand justice.
They also tell that whatever happens on the field stays on the field but when what happens on the field affects them they make noise. Such double standard. This Harbhajan issue is all preplanned. They wanted to take revenge for what happened in India and goaded and incited Bhajji on the field. What provoked him to say what he was supposed to have said (no evidence for what he said) no one knows. The verdict was also based on one team's words against the other. When there is no evidence how can the referee take sides? This again shows that the refree is also as biased as the umpires.

If ever there is a country in the world whose citizens can be easily misled, it is India. In a country addicted to breaking news flashes and ready to accept any stupid commentary, however foolish and cheap it is, as long as it is in good English, this is another ugly hype of the scandal hungry media.

The Australians are every bit justified in their shock of the play of the events by Kumble&co.

Your call "whats the difference between a desperate draw and a loss" will go unnoticed and may even be branded anti-India but it is a true reflection of what has happened.

My only complaint on Ponting here is that his declaration was a bit defensive . There is no way this Indian team ,with Dravid and Jaffer at the top, would go for a win however reachable the target was. Ponting missed a golden opportunity to humble and embarrass the pseudo master players of India this time around.
