In India we use the word monkey when we find someone very restless or distructive......
by shobana nair on Jan 10, 2008 10:03 AM

Every country have their own way of using words for fun or in anger.Monkey is the word used for fun as monkeys are restless and destuctive at times.A mother calls her child a monkey because he behaves so very restless and doing this which makes no sense,so cribbing on a word monkey doesnot make sense for many indians and finds it a harmless word to be used.Donkey is used for those who do not use their brain,or plays a carrier of burden in day to day life without complain.A donkey doesnot protest a bit even if it is made to do over work at times the poor creature is hard working. An owl is used for one who just blinks at a question without answering it soon. So we also have a cultural difference at Sydney and this has to be handled amicable.

In India, parents spank their kids. So you think you can spank someone in public? I can't believe people try to come up with nice logic!

Your logic is patently flawed, as has been the case with every aussie troll that frequents this chat board. Parents spanking their kids to discipline them and spanking someone in public are two different things are we indians are smart enough to discern that. Aussies am not too sure about, cuz the student population that met and interacted with at monash and RMIT all seemed extremely mediocre. And the ones that I encounter here on rediff are worse than mediocre.

Shameless in Sydney

70% of the revenue for world cricket comes from India, Pak, Srilanka and Bangladesh. Why do we have to care abt Australia ? Boycott them. Financially, they will be the losers. In any case, they won't let other countries win (many times with the help of umpires) So, we know that even if we play them the result is same. Why care ? Years ago, didnt the caucasian dominated nations ban colored players from playing many other sports even though they were competent? Let us give the taste of their own medicine.

- These are good ideas theoretically. Any one who has studied 4000 years of Indian history knows that we Indians, loved to be dictated by our pale skinned gods from Greece, Persia and Western Europe! We are fascinated by them for nothing. May be they all dream of getting laid or r**ed. That's why it took million years for us to get independence. It will take another million years to teach lessons to Australia. They will do it then because polar bears will be minority and asian bears will be ruling that country by then. We are good at sticking it only to our own people!

If Indians have realized that the 70% comes from them, then the Indian metro sissies wouldn't be playing cricket. Think about it. Indian team is not a true representation of India.

Who are you to decide what's a true representation of India? a team is selected on the basis of merit and not to give its structure and composition a politically-correct visage.

Even so, Sreesanth from the backwaters of Kerala, Dhoni from the hinterlands of jharkhand, RP a small-town boy from UP, Ishant who went to a Hindi-medium school, Irfan who grew up in a madrasa and whose father is an imam, do not represent any of the metro or big cities of the nation. Neither was Kapil Dev or Madan Lal scions of english-educated families.

So take your bull-sh*t and shove it up your a*ss. But before that show me one aborigine that represented the team of crooks other than jason gillispie.

Asian countries should start new Cricketing body
by Nagi on Jan 10, 2008 04:37 AM

This is the only time india gets what it wants from ICC.
But before that its Australia literally controlled the game.
So Ausis and its media could not tolerate this.

Why the hell we care about Australia. We too can be aggressive. Let%u2019s start our own Asia cricket council and lets see what happens to ICC and the So called Great Australian cricket.

ICC is teh idiot!
by JM on Jan 10, 2008 01:45 AM

Because they let Aussies get away with anything and every thing so far.

McGrath spitting on a WI-batsman earned him a meagre fine-

ICC also let umpires get away with anything.
1. Bucknor screwed up 50-50 WC finals
2. Bucknor was given a rating of 0 by Ganguly, no actions taken
3. Many teams have complained that Bucknor needs hearing aid but the retard still continues to umpire.

the time has come
by ranjit roy on Jan 09, 2008 09:56 PM

the time has come to take no sheet from nobody - from selective incompetence, kangaroo court judgments, and devious and mendacious sportsmen such as ponting, clarke, et al with their holier than thou attitude, and superior and supercilious whiteman posturing

there is a lot at stake these days in a series where a wrong decision can mar an entire test if not a series

how come ICC cannot allow the intervention of the 3rd umpire when the field umpire overlooks a noball when the batsman is ruled out?

Similarly, the third umpire can intervene for stumping chances, and catches for grassing regardless of whether the third umpire has been called upon to pass judgement but wait! if the 3rd umpire is a home umpire who ruled symonds not out in spite of all evidence to the contrary, then it is time that the 3rd umpire be a socalled neutral entity. we could have 3 umpires officiate over 5 days thru rotation thereby giving much needed rest to those standing for 2hrs each session all day under the sun. just as Imran Khan was a visionary when he asked for neutral umpires during a Pak-WI (not too sure) series circa 86, we need visionaries to take things forward - a meld of bold but far-reaching decisions coupled with the careful and judicious use of technology but alas! ICC has no such men...

miscarriage of justice
by ranjit roy on Jan 09, 2008 09:49 PM

sydney test would have seen the phoenix-like rise of the indian team after their ashes to ashes and dust to dust performance at melbourne. in spite of the absence of the spearhead Zaheer Khan (thanks to BCCI's overburdening calendar - they look at indian cricketers like indian IT Professionals who are just pawns on whom money must be made), India would have most likely had australia out for below 300 and if they batted the way they did, they would surely have won the match and reversed the situation

alas - this match must have been fixed via buknor, benson, and procter

it is like driving the knife deep inside and then apologizing afterward when all and sundry can sense that the one that drove th knife deep inside was doing it with complete malice (after all who drives a knife deep inside and twists and turns it unintenionally?)

alas, this bcci has no balls unlike 2001 when india was confronted by another racist mike - mike denness - he suspended/fined 6 indians

but BCCI had that Dalmiya (a man to be admired) and Saurav (india's most aggressive captain) who retaliated in kind - got that test match cancelled, and Mike Denness' future as match referee terminated

Alas, this BCCI has no spine or spleen or balls or brains

Who will referee the match referee - after all he is human enough to make mistakes and inhuman enough to be racist

What is so distasteful about this? Truth is always bitter and nothing wrong in writing this way when it helps to make an argument.

ICC - the wisest of men
by ranjit roy on Jan 09, 2008 09:41 PM

ICC and its men are the wisest of people...but on hindsight, in this they are 2nd to none, their hindsightness is far in excess of anyone elses, so much so that it compensates for their complete lack of foresight as has been seen over the years in their way of handling stock situations let alone grave ones

malcolm speed is an aussie so it makes sense to have bucknor around so that he can rule in favour of the aussies against their opponents

they continue to make the same mistakes over and over again (which would imply that their hindsight is also frail?)
