You can already see Ponting backing down (now realising what he's done)
by S Chandra on Jan 11, 2008 07:26 AM  | Hide replies

Read this quote from the above article -

"I carried out my duties as captain," Ponting told the Nine Network on Thursday. "It's not about me reporting anybody, it's the umpires' job to do that and that's what they did."

He's already trying to squirm out of the position he finds himself in, which is being on the receiving end of a lawsuit by trying to imply that its the umpires who have filed the charge to the match referee.

In the light of the fact that the umpires didnt hear anything, and this charge was brought by the Australians, he doesnt have a leg to stand on, on this one.

Take this guy to court, I plead the BCCI.
He is guilty of wrongful accusation, and defamation !!
Take this guy to court , I say !
Let the court decide if there's no evidence to prove he invented this story is just made it up to prosecute Harbhajan !
But take Ponting to court, BCCI !

I am continuing my post Re: Why Ricky Ponting Should Be Banned!
I was taken aback by the vehemence of my son's response, and the fact that he had used a cuss-word for almost the first time I could remember. Symonds has been at it, right through this series as a part of a plan. There has been nothing fair, clean or sporting about this whole planned conduct, which some Australian commentators mislabel as "playing hard, uncompromising, but fair"
If you, and Mick, are talking of history and precedent, look at the sum total of the incident: A Harbhajan is playing the game of his life, scoring his highest in Tests, belting the much-vaunted Aussie attack. To look at the way you plead your side's case, the Australians to a man stood there on the field, like English country squires, murmuring, "I say chap, that was a splendid shot". And, Harbhajan reciprocates this civility, by turning around like an uncouth London Docker, to hurl a racial abuse at Symonds.

Somehow, when national pride gets mixed up with sport, tinted glasses automatically come on. Look back with objectivity at the Australian team's conduct over the past few years. And you will see the emergence of the Ugly Aussie.

Steve Waugh was the one who brought in this version by labelling it "mental disintegration".
I wonder if it was during his stewardship, that they asked an opposing batsman on the pitch, whose sister had met a violent death, whether she was actually having a romp. This, if true, is vile, ugly and unspeakably obscene.

Umpires, under an Aussie CEO, have somehow allowed such detestable behaviour to pass without even a murmur. Speaking out of the corners of your mouth, questioning a man's lineage, and directing
snide abusive comments is fair conduct, as
far as Aussies under Ponting are concerned.

Winning at any and every cost is the motto of this Australian team. This side lost it, when
the Indians got the measure of the Australians in Sydney's first innings.

From here in Mumbai, the targeting of Harbhajan looks like a well-thought out strategy to take
him out because, he, like the Aussies, plays the game hard, but unlike the Aussies, fair.

to adnan.

just goes to show how wrong you are, ponting didn't push pawar at all. it was damien martyn, and is wasn't a push as pawar was standing their when he was not supposed to be.

so before you make accusations, get your facts straight.

as far as I am concerned martyn should have pushed off the podium competely.

Kumble adds more strength to the theory that there's no evidence !
by S Chandra on Jan 11, 2008 07:25 AM

Jumbo has written an article in HT (obviously the team management and the board must have cleared him to do so), in which he puts his own reputation on the line that there's no evidence against Harbhajan !

Its kind of confirming something I've suspected all along, that this case was filed without evidence, and previous behaviour (or something like it) was used to pass this judgement on Bhajji !

Please read this article everyone. Its on HT.
It has the perfect title -

"Nothing racist was said or intended. We are neither unnerved nor guilty"

A perfect title !! And its a great article.

Puts the blame right where it belongs, in front of the Australian cricket team.

I really hope BCCI, ICC and few of those arrogant down under should read your articles - it will help them understand why they are seen as arrogant world wide.
Thank you for such a clear, precise and to the point article.

GO BCCI - Whole country is with you!

Are Symonds and Bucknor related?
by ranjit roy on Jan 10, 2008 10:50 PM

the number of times that bucknor let symonds go scott free - caught behind, not referring a stumping to the 3rd umpire, and in the 2nd innings lbw to kumble not given, and dravid caught off his pads by gilchrist, and dhoni coming way down the wicket and padding up but being given lbw - all courtesy bucknor and all courtesy extended to symonds!

there's more to it than meets the eye - who knows if bucknor had been spreading his seeds or sowing his wild oats and a result of that is this creature symonds who suffers from a persecution complex of being called a monkey...

it's time symonds' mother came out in the open about her darling son andrew or perhaps a DNA test must be called for..

(1) Ricky Ponting %u2013 (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER OF THE CRICKET ERA AND WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED ) should be considered as the FOURTH UMPIRE. As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE decision is final and will over ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field. This rule is to be made, so that every team should understand the importance of the FOURTH UMPIRE .

(2) While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is bowling, If the ball flies anywhere close to the AUSTRALIAN FIELDER(WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is to be considered OUT irrelevant of whether the catch was taken cleanly or grassed. Any decision for further clarification should be seeked from the FOURTH UMPIRE. This is made to ensure that the cricket is played with SPORTIVE SPIRIT by all the teams.

(3) While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait for the ON-FIELD UMPIRE decisions only (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP as the ball might not have touched the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES (minimum) before he can return to the pavilion. In case of THE CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.

(4) UMPIRES should consider a huge bonus if an AUSTRALIAN player scores a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will be paid huge bonus and will receive the backing of the AUSTRALIAN team and board.

(5) All AUSTRALIAN players are eligible to keep commenting about all players

You speak like a shyster lawyer, Kerry Hadley.
A closer look at the list will show you that these, for the most part, are minor misdemeanours. In one instance, Mike Denness cited 5 Indians, when it was South Africans who deserved a reprimand. Jagmohan Dalmiya, who was the ICC head at the time, saw to it that this
one-sided gentleman was never called to do duty again.

I know not all papers are representative of the paper whose report you have cited. But there are enough "tawdry fleet-street whores" who are working to undermine the Indian cricket team. To wit, the report of caste differences and discrimination in the team, or the one that actually 'quoted' the Indian team official, Lalchand Rajput, saying, "Yuvraj has an attitude problem, and I will be talking to him"
The official was mystified as to when he had made such a statement.

Your strenuous, laboured efforts to call black as white do not do you, or Australian sport any credit.

From Don Bradman, to Bobby Simpson, Allan Border, even Kim Hughes, Australian cricket has been served well and creditably. To lump the utterly graceless bunch under Ponting with these peerless cricketers would be to denigrate them.

The Post is continued...

I have chosen to omit Steve Waugh and a certain smooth operator, Richie Benaud, from the list of peerless Aussies. You, Kerry Hadley,
and Mick, have gone so far down the road in defending the indefensible, that you cannot afford to look back at the heroes of Australian
sport: Rod Laver, Tony Roche, John Newcombe, Ken Rosewall, Evonne Goolangong, Margaret Court, Martin Snell (I don't know if I have the name, of the man who was called 'human rabbit', right)Shane Gould, Dr. Ric Charlesworth...all gems of world sport.

I don't know if you realise, in 'owning' Ricky Ponting and his team, you are actually disowning
the best that Australian sport has offered to the world.
