I think Kumble is the most resposible for our condition in Aus. It starts from the sixteen men selection process. Kumble demanded for the Kartik and Sehwag who where not at all in the form in Ranaji level also. And now who have a huge question mark on the opening slot. kartil and Sehwag are in the team and the management itself has no confidence on them. I think we have selected the team of fourteen only instead of sixteen. What do u think? Post ur comments.
RE:Kumble responsible for India's condition

Manish, I don't think any problem with team selection. This is a team game where players cannotbe compared properly so always there are plus and minus in each player and it is difficult to tell who would have been a better choice. If this is individual game like chess, tennis etc it is easier, players get more side by side compariosion so you could choose probably the best team always. But in a team game it is difficult.
I feel that the team has good players. All the players are good and can be productive. But if they don't play well nothing can be done. They have to bat sensibly and stay at the crease long time. Then only they can draw or win against Australia. Jaffar, Sachin were out for unnecessary shots out side the off stump. They were playing fluently and they should have simply stayed at the crease. You should know how to use your form also. On a day you are batting well like sachin and Jaffar you should immediatelt tell yourself that today is your day make maximum use of it. They didn't and India lost. Now this cannot be applied to Dravid because he had problem in staying at the crease itself, it was not his best day anyway. My point is when you are a lion or tiger make sure that you donot behave like a lamb. Kartik and sehwag are good players, who can bat extremely well. But the point is whoever is in the team they should dedicate their game. They should simply stay at the crease and look for singles, go for odd boundaries ( if they bowl to leg side, avoid anyt

Is it right to take sehwag in the team who has not done even 10% of his ability in the Ranaji games also the whole season. And u dont think that we are unestimating the players who are doing well in the Ranaji games.
The Kookaburra ball swings from the word go but is less of a threat after 30 overs. The onus is on numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7 to do bulk of the scoring and at a brisk rate, as long as they avoid suicidal strokes. Dravid may not be at his best but he paved the way for the rest of the batsmen to score easily by blocking the new ball. The real failure was by these guys (check sachin's disgraceful second innings record in Aus and SA) that was responsible for our downfall.
I would suggest to open with Dinesh Karthick and Sehwag, with Dravid as number three - leaving Jaffer and Yuvraj out. Indian team have to think innovatively and learn from mistakes.
Delaying Sehwag will only decrease his confidence and so his chance of success

I think we have to open with Kartik and Jaffer instead of Sehwag. Rest as u suggested is ok. Because Jaffer has in the great from this year and bu omitting him we are not giving a good sign. On the other hand Sehwag is not in form in Ranaji games also. And he has got lot of opportunities at International level also but he has totally failed in the last two years. This amount of opportunities are not got to even Ganguly also.
What's up with the captain & tour selectors? They just dont seem to be thinking logically. Inspite of a no show by the openers last time, they have still persisted with the same pair. Jaffer would always be found wanting on these wickets and the best option would be replacing him with Sehwag, who could also double up as a handy off spin option should the wicket give away in later stages. That way India can go in with three regular pacers and 1 spinner(Kumble)and use Ganguly/Sehwag as per conditions.
These chaps just dont know how to make optimum use of their resources, and could be faced with a similar result as Melbourne by handing over the initiative to the Aussie pacers. We are seeing a very defensive mindset among the decision makers. When everything is going for them, instead of going for a 2-0 or 3-0 they settle for a 1-0. And now they seem keen to make Aus winning run easier. If they lose this one, what chance will they have at Perth.

On the eve of New Year Whitesnake, you said rightly, what else Indian people could expect from cricket lover like you.Good prediction, Mr. Daruwala will definitly beg infront of BCCI office.Brevo.
Folks, u will all see a different Dravid in Sydney test. He will start slowly but will aggressively bat to score first century for India !! He and Sachin are the only two players who can score hundreds on this tour. Laxman and Gangulli may not score over 40 runs! India is certainly will put up a better sho tomorrow. Pl do not write off our team. On their day they can beat any team in this world and that day will be the fifth day of Syndney Test. Bravo India !

wats up with dhoni mania!!! our players as soon as they win one title they will rest for next 25 yrs. first we won in 1983 after 24 yrs again in 2007. we got to wait another 24/25 yrs.. next generation can see next title. relax till then

why shd we argue before the test. indian players are not inferior to australian players on any account. it was mind game which aussies won in melbourne. anil's men are ready for the sydney to turn tables. wait i am not only optimist but also made a realistic prediction.
Why does the Indian think tank want to sacrifice Dravid. His place is one down. Thank God he is not asked to keep wickets. In case Pathan is in the playing 11, may be he can be sacrificed to open but not Dravid. Pathan did get a test hundred, although against the lowly placed Pak.
RE:DRAVID
by manish d on Jan 01, 2008 11:26 PM
Pathan as opener means three players opening the inning. Because Aus can not leave this chance and one who is coming one down you say Dravid, we can see him on the ground in the first over itself.
Suman and other supporters of Dravid. There is a definite game plan to remove Dravid. If he fails as a opener, wellhe is gone and Sehwag comes in. This is very bad.You can do whatever you like wioth Saurav, but not with Dravid.

But why with Saurav also? He is the most successful captain of Indian Cricket team and he has build up the team in his time. He has brought the players like Harbajan, Yuvraj, Irfan and Sehvag forward in his captainship. I think u have forgor this all.
