Finally, we are witnessing the beginning of the end of the game of cricket as it is today. Sould have been sold to the hammer & the game is the biggest victim. The auction room action means nothing if there isnt emough crowd interest. BCCI means nothing if the indian cricket lover isnt interested and we are witnessing the beginning of the end.

This is a new game to fool the Indian mad cricket lover, similar to the reality shows running on idiot box with SMS polls. Can some body work out the balance sheet of these deals. Who are on plus side and match viewers obviously on minus side. Now there will be 'Bulls trading' to get TV trans rights and consumers getting milked by multinations. Wake up India wake up!
a nation where 22% of the population do not even get two square meals, such obscene figures quoted to players, show the mismatch between haves and have nots

Socailism causes poverty, capitalism ie obscene dispalay like this one alleviates poverty. No one proves this more than India itself. 50 yrs of alignment with Russia, vs 10 yr of wealth splashing like America, take your pick.

Jay, I work in the US and I am all for capitalism - but what India has followed for the past 10 yrs is not capitalism. And our country has not exactly flourished in the past 10 yrs, right? Just that real estate prices have boomed and the lower middle class is getting driven out of cities - because they can't afford the high rents. Have our infrastructure or mfg industies boomed? Nay, sir...

I could not agree with you more Ashok. I love cricket and follow the cricket team - but this is absurd! None is worth that money in a poor country like India.
As long as We Indian bloody fools watch these stupid cricket... the rich will keep on making and milking millions of dollars. Oh poor india, you have been robbed and raped in the name Cricket

Please remember money is in cricket because of some good marketing and is a lesson for us to aspire to become better. I have seen former test cricketers in 80's just walking or having only a scooter. Please dont be jealous. As long as it is a white transaction then it is fine. Try buying a land in a good locale for 100% white and then challenge me.

forget about a scooter... 22% of our population does not have a meal per day... and these guys are not exactly underpaid, are they? and last but not least, if IPL wanted, they could have kept a cap on the salaries of foreign players at least... but no... they will not because they don't give a rat's ass about India or Indian cricket... They just want to destroy ICL.

For starts, how about adopting some kids with all these money? Or feed some poor people on the streets, dude? Get a life? How? When 22% of the total population do not have the means to have a meal once a day - get a life? I hate hypocrites and asses like you who think that they are above all others and their motherland.
You need to drop those dumb ass attitude and open your eyes to what is going on around you - dude. And yeah, its easy to write stuff on message boards - but someone like you with ovaries instead of balls will never do anything worthwhile with your life anyways! Shame on you sucka.
Initial bids seem to be more focussed on batsmen as the tournament is 20/20. Hence it is no surprise bowlers have to wait. Once the team formations gets to the rear end, there will be a scramble for bowlers. Let us wait. All bowlers who have been picked so far are top - Murali, Warne, Kumble, Brett Lee etc.
Surprisingly, Mandira Bedi has not interested any team bosses yet. Why? Is she not worth? She will add a lot of glamour to the game... Mr. Lalit Modi, Please bid for her as well
