Are these IPL buggers going to...
by Milind on Feb 20, 2008 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

Digout money from our pocket somehow?

Any research done over this issue?

Where are they pulling out this expense from?

This isn't about cricket everyone knows but what is the micro business in this?

This is not about cricket, this is about ad revenues.Otherwise how can you explain Shane Warne taken just for 1.8 cr.(Shane warne cannot sell soaps, tooth pastes,T-shirts in India, while harbhajan, yousuf pathan's can do that).

Simple, this is their revenue model. Any person whose first name or last name begins with the letter "m" will have to pay Rs.5000 surcharge on their taxes towards IPL. So, Milind, be prepared and save up.

Harbhajan costs more than Murali?
by Hot Air on Feb 20, 2008 03:29 PM  | Hide replies

Is there any specific reason why a team is willing to pay more for Bajji than for Murali? While Bajji may be a marginally better batsman than Murali, the latter is a much superior bowler. The difference in their rates can hardly be justified.

bhaji was a far better bowler in t20 world cup and for a spiner to be so tight in run giving and being aggressive at the same time, its worth having him in the side

Simple really. He cannot bat or bowl but he can call people "monkey". That is entertainment. Surely, that is worth a lot of money.

IPL Auction
by SG SHJ on Feb 20, 2008 03:18 PM  | Hide replies

This is quite ridiculous and I sincerely hope that the IPL fails, and that too without affecting the good players. I would hate to see a rate talent like Ishant Sharma playing so many 20-20 matches. It is a sad day for Indian cricket.

IPL and ICL failures
by gaurav arora on Feb 20, 2008 03:15 PM

Hi folks ,

I believe that this is a good move .Players are going to get a lot of money ( ofcourse some tension in the future as well ) .Now there will be big time betting on these tournaments and a new mafia will be created .It is a known fact that whenever there has been too much cricket we do not digest that and shift to bollywood or some sas bahu serials. The IPL's and ICL's are going to be big time flops .We enjoy cricket because it is played between countries .I did watch ICL games and hardly watched them and used to change my channels. The bidding is just a way for the companies to invest ( since stocks are crashing)

by Karunakar Patil on Feb 20, 2008 03:44 PM
Dont worry Mr Hussain . He is one of the most capable administator politician in India. Farmers suicides is old issue before he has taken over as Agri Minister. Now they are reduced, and it will take some time to stop completely. Subsidy for farmers is getting reduced since we opted for free economy in 1989 causing building of femers debt.

For BCCI , before IPL he has generated lot of funds more than anybody did befoer him. That clearly means previous BCCI chief was siphoning out money from varios Ad rights, TV rights and cotracts. Eigher He is less corrupt than previos chief of BCCI or he is bettre administrator.

Going by the reports, it does not look like cricket anymore. It looks like prostitution. Will the real cricket invoke enthusiasm as this auction. I suspect.
