Terrorism, BCCI, Cricketers and Indian Govt
by S Shrikanth on Dec 07, 2008 08:03 AM

Under these circumstances when we are in a very sad mood because of the killing of 200 innocents in the worst ever terrorist attack in India and still we do not know how many more innocents will be killed. This is an extra ordinary situation and our country is facing real difficult time.

BCCI, the most money hungry organization in the world is intersted in its commercial interest on the dead bodies of its countrymen.

Its is only a myth that our Selfish. money hungry cricketers (unlike other sportsmen)play for the country. The bats of Tendulkars, Dhoni do not run for the country, but for the advertisers from whom they have signed the multi crore contracts. This is the reason why they have accepted to play the series even at this hour.

Lastly, the Govt thinks that by organizing the cricket matches they are going to build the confidence of their countrymen to fight agaist terrorism, actually they are fooling people. They know that people in this country are addicted to cricket and once cricket starts, they will forget the pain of terrorism. This shows their indifference and lack seriousness to take on Terrorism. This way they Govt is encouraging terrorism in India.

This is only a cover up game, if the public does not understand this, then they should get ready bigger treats from terrorists.

Exactly. Cricket at this moment will be like you are entertaining yourself when your house is burning.

If they think that holding these two matches with huge security will send a strong message that India is unfazed by terrorist attacks, they are wrong. Get ready for more attacks, and more innocents being killed.

Not boycotting, but postpone it so that it does not imply that you are holding cricket matches on the dead bodies of 200 innocents and the worst terrorist attacks.

If you stage manage a cricket match by spending a billion dollar on security, that does not mean that your country is secured.

Before you organize cricket matches, please take action so that people feel safe at public places in the country.

Have they done that? They are organizing cricket matches when Mumbai is bleeding.

All Indians should demand cancellation of Cricket until security for all
by Amakant Chaudhary on Dec 07, 2008 04:04 AM

Indians forget such terrorist acts quickly and move on. In the past this may have been good but certainly its also the reason why politicians and bureaucrats dont take strong action. Because people forget and life reurns to the same normal. By boycotting or demanding the cancellation of cricket, Indians can send out a strong message that they first want the government and politicians to provide a safe and secure environment for all and not just cricketers, politicians, actors and other VIPs. Cricket is opium of the masses. The politicians dole out ample amnts so that people never wake up from their stupor.

Don't blame them

I don't blame the British cricketers if they don't want to come to India. Indian govt is totally incapable of providing security to anybody in India against terrorism. This is the price we pay for playing politics with national security.

yes, agree with you. internal politics in our country has eventually paid the price in the form of negative reputation and declining revenues. and indian government is seriously incapable of providing security to any foreigner who comes to india. if i was not an indian, i wouldn't have even thought of going to india anytime.

Cricket is a stupid game anyway.
BCCI, Indian cricket team does not represent India.

Its a private profit making body. And so is England or any other team.

So stop this nationalistic nonsense for a nonsense game.
