Is It worth
by richard robert on Dec 07, 2008 12:03 PM  | Hide replies

The entire 5 star hotel booked at a cost of over 1 million dollars, the cost of secruity, and the elite NSG commondos guarding just cricketer and then the inconvience to ordinary citizens where the match is held overall other unwanted expenses, the security at the stadium and again the fear, is it worth it, why is BCCI doing this it is one of the rich association and its own country is effected it is like the head of the family in a cricket playing world others are just greeding of BCCI money, Just imagine other than cricket does India have any say, who cares for us they only look upon us a a 3rd world country no matter what and in cricket money talks every thing is covered, India should hold on to matches for now, and for sure should call of the Pakistan tour, how can our players mindset work when the country that we are playing is only intrested in our destruction, it will be very shamefull, to play though some Pakistanis are telling Cricket binds us together, all BULL SHIT, the greed of money is all that they are talking like this, this same Pakistan Board wants to make money out of India tour and then they can finance the Terrorist, When will we Indians realize, Cricket should continue, when the nation is mourning can't we put a temporary stop and look for the stituation next year BCCI should overcome the greed if not atleast the sponsors should teach them only then thinks can improve, hope the Media plays a role in this

It is better if we delay all big events including sports
by Francis SL on Dec 07, 2008 11:32 AM

I personally feel, it is better to delay ECB tour until we improve our internal security. India is having greater terrorist threat from pakistanis and all jehadis. There may be thousands on Jehadis within India.

Now we will think only about india's security than sports or some election campaign.

The way terrorist attacked mumbai, they may attack stadium or players too also. I really have doubt on Indian security.

My suggestion to Indian govt. to mordenize security system, including security personals monthly wages. Provide state police helicopters to reach the spot on time. I really dont feel safe because of terror.

If we spend more on security system it is gain for India, so that investor can trust India.

English team wants NSG commandos for security
by Shankar Kumar on Dec 07, 2008 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

English team has requested for full fledged NSG commandos for security in hotel, travel and in the match.BCCI has obliged.
Now BCCI is interested in only its TV rights
At at time when nation is facing crisis of terror we will have over 200 commandos protecting English and Indian team.
Also Dhoni out up tantrums recently as he was not provided Z plus security and was only give Z security.
What Security ordinary Indians have.
Let us make it very clear English team should not get NSG or and Govt Commando force

thats our duty...they are our guests...we are their hosts...their security in such a case is a priority...and its not just the BCCI that looses a lot of money...a lot of more people are also associated with the loss.

They are reluctant to come. For the sake of losing money and also the fact that IPL may get affected BCCI is going all out to call the team. At this time Indians are in no mood for cricket except for lust of BCCI.And the wasting of 200 NSG commandos is unpardonable

How to change India?
by Your BALAJI on Dec 07, 2008 09:13 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the messages on this board are right. Cricket is a waste - waste of time (Indians can do better in so many areas if they get rid of this obsession).

Instead of securing the whole nation, resources are wasted in securing cricketers.

I do agree talent of cricketers (Sachin, et al) should not be wasted. But they can play in all countries outside India.

By the bye, HOW TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN (Undue preferred treatment to Cricket at the cost of other sports, safety of all the citizens of India, etc.)?

WE ALL ARE SAYING...THIS SHOULD HAPPEN...THAT SHOULD HAPPEN...BUT HOW? WHAT ARE WE DOING TO GET OUR WISH LIST HAPPEN?

Mere day dreaming (even if Good dream) is not going to take us anywhere.

People (except the families who were directly affected by the Mumbai blast) are going to forget everything in 10 days.

We Indians should change. Again, how?
Any constructive suggestion?

What about other sport in this country?

Sport, Movies and other entertainment events are relevant only when you are safe.

In 1940 and 1944 Olymics were not held because of 2nd world war. Currently, it is a war like situation in India.

Sports is an important part of every society. It has always been and always will be. Tell me how will banning criket or any other sport in India imporove anything. And for the last time, please do not blame cricket for India's failure in other sports. If you want to blame somebody, then blame the respective sports governing bodies. Not BCCI or cricket. I am not saying that BCCI is flawless, but they are definitely not responsible for India's failure in other sports.
As for changing India, why dont you start with some suggestions. Till now, have you ever participated in any public welfare programme. Have you ever done any charity?? Have ever voted (one of the basic duties of every citizen)??

You are mixing 2 things - Cricket(a purely commercial entertainment) and Public welfare.

Public welfare is always relevant, particularly in the current situation. This is everybody's responsibility.

I can't understand what public welfare will be done by the organizing the two test matches? This is for the welfare of BCCI and the companies like Pepsi, Coke etc.

I am not mixing these things, people who want cricket banned are mixing public welfare with entertainment. I agree that these test matches will not do anything for public welfare, but stopping these matches will not improve that either. And if you want ban anything why just stop at cricket, ahy not ban all movies, all television serials and all sorts of entertainment.

No, No. How can you can cricket. Its a game.

But under current situation when the whole country is crying in pain and feeling insecure, it is irrelevant. The reason is that Cricket matches are purely a commercial entertainment benefitting consumer companies who sell their substandard products at high prices pushed aggressively through cricketers and cricket matches.

This also shows that the Govt is not serious about taking action on terrorism, but wants to fool public through cricket matches. They want Terrorism to go as it is.

I appeal to England cricketers- Pls cancell the rest of your tour of India. Respect our mood of our countery. I recious resources & security personnel are needed for protecting our citizens Not Dhonis, Sachins,& all yr team. Take hike or a break go to Timbaktu or Nigeria or Zimbawe to play Leave us alone. And BCCI to be dis mantled for 2 years, assests frozen to be used for setting up a new NSG training school in Mumbai.

In our mood- Mumbai carnage- What Cricket or circus these guys are talking. Let us take 1 year break from Cricket in India- Stop all International ODIs- Test- 20/20 in India for a year. There is already too much criket. Let there be Intl cricket in India the day we are ure the cricketers, public stadiums all do not need Security cover. That is the best acid test. Meantime let the govt people & stake holders work to secure India free of these attacks. Till then NO cricket- No Formule 1, No Commonwealth Games, No Grand Prix Tennis, respect the mood & conditions in India
