Abe Pranam... u are saying sreesanth as a clown .. just because he shows agression. . You certainly requires somebody like him who gives hi s heart oout and can give back in the same coin. Try to give respect. As Irfan is concerned his is a great cricketere .. but he is in grade C because he was out of Indian team for quite some time..Take a walk moron.. just remember sreesanth's spirited performance against aust. If Yuvi can get a crore for just 2 innings whyc cant sreesanth be in grade B

Problem with Indian Cricket
by Crick fan on Sep 28, 2007 04:36 AM

Despite winning 20-20 WC people are apprehensive how we would fare against Australia in ODI's. The problem with us not talent and capabilities for our players, but problem is to play the more deserving players into ODI's. Players like Rohit, Uttappa, Sehwag , need to playing in ODI's. But still we cannot accomodate them all same time.

Agarkar
by Vijay on Sep 28, 2007 04:24 AM  | Hide replies

How come Agarkar even considered for this list?

Thanks to Tendulkar's recco he has had a career in cricket.

The selectors should make the senior players to own the responsiblities, that causes mediocrity in the team composition and also derailing the careers of others aspirants during the process.

Stop fighting like monkeys
these grades are not decided on 20-20 or last eng tour..it is purel based on merit and entire year's performance..most of it is fair to me...Agarkar may have been out of form; but he still deserve at least in grade C..I am sure he will make yet another comeback when 1-2 get injured and we will have no seamer left to play in 11..

He should be in Grade A, he has taken around 290 wickets in oneday cricket, he is the fastes 50 wickets taker in the one day cricket (for this effort he deserve 1 cr, like yuvraj six sixes), he is part of 20-20 word cup winning team, he is part of 50-50 over finalist team in 2003. What more people wants from one player, he is the player is requirement of one day team, very soon after lossing 3 or 4 matches against australia he will back in the Indian team.

Grade look like seniority list..
by Jay Veeru on Sep 28, 2007 02:20 AM  | Hide replies

players have been graded based on seniority rather than performance. Make grade a point based system with certain points for wickets, runs and responsibility (captaincy/ catches etc.) Leave a few discretionary points too. This way the system is fair.
BTW, do you think Harbhajan and Irfan should swap grades. Also Wasim Jaffer should swap place with Robin Utthappa. Most/All the senior players should be lower grade till they perform.

I like the idea of discretionary points. BCCI and Pawar will use all their discretion in Agarkar those points so that he can quickly move to grade A

RE:Grade look like seniority list..

As opposed to 100% discretionary points that they have now! The selectors need discretionary points to try new players with no experience, hence no points. Plus they should be able to boot a player like Shoaib, who is a good performer but bad influence to the team. or someone who gets good point because he plays for points/records and not for the victory.
Infact add some popularity points too, ie. other teammates assign you some points. Thus everyone will get along with everyone. Also award special points to captain for each victory, so that he can bust teammates balls to get the performance and won't care about popularity.

Why award advanced grading for 12 months. Give one flat rate to all (say 40 lakhs), and reward special performances on spot as they happen. Honest and fair to everyone, make it dynamic and challenging, leave past behind - rightly said by Dhoni. This will bring out the best of all players.

Jay, u may be wrong stating the grades are based on experience.
See where Agarkar is placed, as far as I remember, he was shining in 1997, its 2007, still in grade C.
Also is this Viru... still on Grade B, while Yuvi is there in Grade A already!

So much has been given to Indian cricket team. I am happy with their achievements. But We should also recognise other sports. Hockey team putting so much effort won the Asia cup for second time. But that went unnoticed. Neither center not state Govt recognized their effort. It is sad that this single game is becoming a reason for other sports not getting anything.

BCCI has kept aside 50 crores for unearthing talent in athletics. they are waiting for the respective federations to reply. i do not think BCCI will support other sports such as hockey and tennis which are direct rivals of cricket in India.

Hi Gopal... its seemingly understandable that you belong to the south India, where people have an anti-feeling towards accepting Hindi as the National language... but all said and done... Hindi is our National Language... documented in the Constitutional guidelines... and you can't deny the truth... So, Dhoni, speaking in Hindi to the press-conference... is a moment to feel proud of... and there is no communal feeling (unlike the Madrassa driven Pakistani team)... Cheer up Gopal... accept the fact and stay happy...

hey Gopal!!..
surely..you are one of such an idoit!..no doubt about that..
Having said that..First..Be proud of Dhoni..who is speaking in his native language which refers to as mother tongue. and Who stops you to speak in your own language..
Let me tell you...without having a proper respect to your own language..you cannot reach anywhere...many great people recognised that fact..
Quite clearly you are one of those kind of people with whom, india soon may loose the originality....
Dhoni spoke in english in many interviews..and sometimes..he spoke in hindi..which is very good....
Learn how to respect your mothertongue..atleast from japanese people..
and I am totally a south indian..If you have any doubt.
Also..40% people speak hindi..and rest of 60% do not speak any common lang...they all have different lang. Ok..
Stop writing these kind of comments..

You should come out of your ignorance - there are 22 national languages in India.

Does dravid speak in Kannada which is also a national language?

Does Ganguly speak in Bengali which is also a national language?

Does Sachin speak in Marathi which is also a national language?

Why is this uncouth bihari acting like those pakistanis who talk in urdu? He should act professional and not create rift in the team. He should stick to English so that no one feels slighted! Someone teach professionalism to this backward caste bihari!

There is one national language - Hindi. There is one national level official langugae - English. There are 22 scheduled languages.

That "uncouth Bihari" has shown more character than the mumbai politicians who gave lengthy lectures in marathi - after all India won T20 not Mumbai.

What's your take on that?

if you are a true indian, then you should tell 100% people should speak and understand Hindi whatever your regional language.Only one national language can bind you all indians. So understand the inmortance of one national language and one international language. Thousands of bolies and reginal languages can not make indians close. So dont politicize youself with mania that Hindi speaking is bad. No one is stoping you off speaking your mother tongue language ,but respect the Hindi, which in National Language.

If not go and see the world ,you will understand the importance of being a national language.
