All forgetting the real man behind our win. If Flintoff had not irritated our Yuvi, he would not have hit those six sixes. Our progress would have ended there. Let us invite Flintoff to the wankhade stadium and present him Rs. 1 crore.

BCCI monopoly with government support
by Nikhil P on Sep 26, 2007 05:53 AM  | Hide replies

Look at how selfish politicians are rewarding these already rich cricketers with millions of rupees. Also the cruel monopoly of BCCI is doing the same thing. No wonder the few rich people are getting richer. This is why we need many more "indian" teams than just the one formed by BCCI.

Their motorcade will be way much safer than public places like trains and restaurants that are often being bombed and the governments have already awarded millions of rupees to these cricketers compared to the few thousand rupees that the governments pay to bomb victims and their family.

This is the real problem
by Mohamed Rafiq on Sep 26, 2007 05:05 AM  | Hide replies

This is the real problem in india. When they win celebrate like anything and when lose stone them. Please dont continue this kind of practice again. It should be handled more professionally. It is their profession and they must try their best by putting 100% in making us win.

With these kind of much hype they lose focus and we cant expect any more win's till comes another surprise one.

Let's aim for the world cup and let them bring it home, it must be a commitment for them. We are tired enough of losing it as well as watching tiny countries around us winning it.

I dont know hindi much. But to the level i understand, what i mean "tiny" is... if they can win and bring world cup means they are working so hard to compete against us. We are a great country with so much talents but the real problem is talents are not getting chance, even if they get they are carried away by money and hype. that must go.

arre.. there is too much competition in India to earn bread and butter due to the immense population. there will be 1 job opening and 1 thousand applicants. 100 engg seats and 10000 students... people in india do not have even the time to think about sports and recreational activities. The parents who have lived through hardships dont want their kids to go through the same hardships... all they want is their kid growing up and becoming a doctor or engineer... yes.. a lot of cricketers thank their parents for encouraging them but there might be lakhs and crores of parents who would have encouraged their kids to play sports and now find their kids without a job and a life... Its easier to say that India, a country of billion cannot produce quality sportsmen but one does not see what quality of life 70% or more people live in this country.
We might be lacking in sports, but due to our focus and stress on education... India is amongst the top nations in global IT map... think about that for a sec... Jai Hind!

waste of money
by Jagjeet Bains on Sep 26, 2007 04:57 AM  | Hide replies

I think BCCI should give the money where it is needed the most. Yuvraj has done a great job by hitting 6 sixes, but Rs. 1 crore just for that ?? 1 crore can manage many hospitals in remote villages for years. These players already have enough money, how much more money can they possibly ask for ? if BCCI has too much money (which they have) and if they truely claim to "represent" India, then why not give some money to athletes, hockey players, football players.
I am more than happy at our team's victory, but this wastage of money is so wrong.
