Winning the World cup (even if it is 20-20) would be an all time milestone for the Indian cricket. There is nothing wrong in going for a mega selection. BCCI is a rich body and if it is ready to pay for the celebrations, no body has any right to complain! Similar receptions are also given to countries winning world cup soccer.

Please don compare Cricket to Soccer. Soccer is an International Game. Every country in the world plays. But Cricket only limited countries

oh really?? do we have 194 international football teams?? dont be stupid... i agree we shud compare between two different sports... but cricket is an international game... i guess u need to work on u'r vocabulary skills
Cricket is just a game. Why to make this big nonsense. Leave those people just like that. Might be BCCI will get extra money from the sponsor if they arrange something like this.

Its cheap, tooo much....if they won then what is sooooooooooooo great, I live in Australia they won World Cup twice but I never saw here like how our india do, shameful, our media is nothing but a bunch of crap...
In any country media is the face, our media is crap and if anhyone watching how our media is reacting for this small world cup win I am sure they must be laughing at us, feeling shame to be indian.

It is stupidity, but u cant compare to AUS, the ppl dont care even if the AUS board arranges a open-air motorcade, they are too busy in their works. But india is different my friend, its culture, ppl are emotional and expressive.
but he bad thing is the same ppl will burn players posters if the lose next match, thats stupidity. anyway,,lets celebrate while we can....!!!

We all know you live in australia, so you don't have to repeat it. If you feel shame to be an indian, we can't help it

ha ha ha well said suresh...he wants to stress more that he stays in australia...who knows? he might be staying in a small slum in mumbai...LOL
I think all these are happening becasue India rarely wins such big tournaments. The over reaction is like a poor man winning one crore in lottery and he wants to show off by going out in mid night with his golden umbrella. (I am only commenting about the over-reaction from BCCI/govt and not on players effort).

Also, I don't understand why media is creating so much hoopla on Modi gov. by not giving any prize money.. I think Modi gov. has taken a right decison.. and also I think court should lay down some guidline on gov. on giving prize money.. this is our money they should not use as they like it... there are so many other problems in India.. why can't they just use the money for that... or give money to a solider who has lost his life in war..
RE:RE:Monery Reward Given by State Gov.
by vjofvizag on Sep 26, 2007 08:33 AM
i completely agree with u mere bhai... Its waste of money of we taxpayers to give prize money to cricketers... they are already sooooo rich with all the advertisers... we can utilize such money on ppl who really need help in displaying their talent in other games which are not as popular as cricket like gymnastics..
At least u people should not use words like arch foes pakistan, after all its a game, and the teams are rivals and not enemies(foes).Words should be used with caution by the media.

Govt. never helps the poor.At least let the players get the money, they may in turn help the poor, at least for the sake of publicity. When the govt. anounces to help the poor, it never reaches the needy, instead goes into the govt. official's pocket.
RE:prize amount is too much
by Paratwada on Sep 26, 2007 07:09 AM
Yes. While our blessing are with the players, on one hand, farmers are committing suicide for some petty amount of bank loan, on the other hand crores of rupees are being given to the players as if they were playing only for money. I am sure even players might not have expected this amount of money.
RE:prize amount is too much
by Srinivasa Rajesh on Sep 26, 2007 07:26 AM
It's not government paying this money. BCCI is paying the money. Do you think politician will leave that much money with the government.

The governments are spending more money on these cricketers than they do to help poor victims of calamities. Read news and know what's happeining in the world, my friend...
Time has come, when the selector should remove sachin, dravid, ganguly, sehwag and give robin, rohit, gambhir, yusuf a chance to play for india in test as well as i ODI.we don't individual performance anymore.

by bharat on Sep 26, 2007 08:01 AM
It is a shame that your mind is bankrupt of thoughts to such an extent that even on an happy occassion of this, you bring up the same 'gheesa peeta' topics - remove Ganguly, remove Sachin etc etc.

by Be Practical on Sep 26, 2007 07:18 AM
Ganesh ji, Please get yourself cheked by a psychiatric. No need to BLOW TRUMPET OVER THE MEDIOCRE TOURNAMENT WIN LIKE 20-20.wHEN IT COMES TO BIG MATHES,WE NEED BIG GUNS.
RE:remove sachin,dravid,ganguly,sehwag
by rupesh rajput on Sep 26, 2007 07:30 AM
Sachin is no god he is good palyer but he is getting old and if he doesnt want to play 20 20 then it is fine. But it non the less proved that team india can survive with out the big three!!!!!!!!!
RE:remove sachin,dravid,ganguly,sehwag
by supandi on Sep 26, 2007 07:51 AM
Mr. Practical, you said quite practical things. People like Rupesh and Ganesh wake up one day and start making non sensical statements like "Enough of the Trio".
20/20 does not need so much of skill, and shorter the game, lesser is the skill/class needed to succeed. Just compare ODI and Test player qualities. Very rarely do good ODI players succeed in longer version.
Don't worry. ODI series against Aus is just around the corner. We got to wait for just another week to come back to earth to find true value of the 20/20 inexperience squad.
It's great we won, but let's not get carried away. We're a youthful, energetic squad, but still largely inexperienced and vulnerable.
Soon after India won the world cup in 83 against the WI, the latter visited India and gave a good drubbing to the Indians and made the euphoria short lived. It will happen this time also if the Indians think they have become world beaters all of a sudden.
What a shame!!. Why r we celeberating such a big deal on a 20-20 win, a game which is just like the gully cricket, where luck plays the major role..no strategies no great planning. Before you plan out tyhe game is over...
Then buddies,, the players are by default supposed to playw ell and win.. what a big deal showering them with such huge monies.. when u still have famine deaths in this country.. Oh God.. wait and watch how easily these players are goind to spoil themselves in the days to come... This is what is the problems of we Indians.. We overdo and we just do not to balance our emmotions and feelings...

I like cricket but it is shame to see that government also making it a big deal by ignoring all other great sports. When are we going to support and enjoy other sports also just like other cricket playing countries like Australia, England etc.....I hope change comes from Indian citizens soon.
