Ganguly should be there. He is a classy player giving confidence to Tendulkar, but some times he falters. For that matter Tendulkar also falters some times. The important thing is that both should not falter together in the same match.

Ganguly should be dropped. Because whenever he is reqd to stand he never standing and his strike rate is very very poor. So he should be dropped. Ex. WC Srilanka match followed by 3rd ODI vs SA, 7 ODi vs Eng and the last match. He is plying for making some runs fro him not for India winning. See how sachin is playing after his continues service of 17 yrs. He still mange to get run a ball whn really reqd. So dropping ganguly is the clever decision.

you are right my friend. what's the use of 50's and 60's scored from 100 balls. now adays one day cricket is all about run a ball. so ganguly should be there in team. but he shouldnot play all the games. he should be rested for some games. and give more chance to youngstars to show their calibare

This opening combination was tried against the Aussies but failed to deliver. We should play with Sachin and Ganguly in stead.

dropping dravid has come lately instead should have been done earlier
by sharath b on Oct 18, 2007 04:09 AM

it is natural for any cricket player to go out of form for few matches. may be for 5 to 10 matches which is acceptable. but really class batsmens who are technically perfect and complete will come back with good inings. so form is temperory and class is permanent. but in case of dravid he was used by other captains and BCCI as a middle order slower batsmen to play middle overs so that hitters will come after 40 overs. but presently he is not doing this job and because of which we lost series against england and australia. why to blame other batsmens, dravid never played a captains inings and his strike rate will put pressure on other batsmens. in the past he was just used as a keeper batsmen in ODI by ganguly and BCCI. so he is not a natural ODI player. so the time has come that we should look at young talented batsmens like badrinath, manoj tiwari, yousuf patan who are also good fielders. ganguly and dravid should retire from ODI before they are removed.

Dravid deserved to be dropped and no need to feel too emotional about it!
by K Chandru on Oct 18, 2007 03:43 AM

The game is bigger than Dravids, Sachins, Sauravs or anyone else, however BIG he is...

The extent to which Dravid has struggled in the ODIs of late is evident by a look at his recent stats. He has piled on a measly 73 runs in his last nine matches at just under 10 per innings, after having secured the man of the match award in the Bristol ODI just prior to his terrible run of form. - MSN India / cricket stories

We all know, Dravid is a great player and he'll sure bounce back strongly again to regain his rightful place in the team. Right now let him enjoy the break and spend some leisurely time with family and work on his sagging form, watching videos of his own dismissals and how bowlers have sorted him out. Be it Dravid or Dinesh Karthik, they need to be judged by the same yardstick. None can cling on to his place based on past form. Even Dinesh Karthik is proving time and again that, he's not a ODI batsman. He has been given enough opportunities already. Instead of finding lame excuses like, it was gem of a delivery that got him out, ball was swinging so much in air, etc., it'd be better if he learns to deal with it. He was sent in at No.3 at the early fall of a wicket since he's an opening batsman. He was supposed to have guarded his end for a while and to play out his shots later which he could not do. Mr. DK! Thank God for the opportunities you got so far. You got them more than what you deserve and wasted them all. Blame youurself for your extinction in future

Shocking????????

I find nothing unusual to this news. People who are out of form should be removed and opportunities should be given to the new faces. I think its too late for Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid to retire......

Good move

Player of Dravid's caliber and dedication don't deserve a place in this team. He is one of the players who performed for the team unlike other player who were bent on improving their individual records. But what Mr Yuvi is doing in the team. He scores once in every 7 or 8 match. Then our captain he comes, plays for 30 runs and then keeps wicket badly nothing more . If Dravid is not eligible for a place in the team, then both Yuvi and dhoni can't even think of place in Indian-A team . There was/is one guy called agarkar. No one knows why he is selected in the team even he is not playing properly for last 5 years. And here they removed Dravid as he is not playing well in last 5 match. Dhoni is really a funny captain. Let's make him captain of India Test team also and wipe out cricket from India. At least that will help other sports in India

Mr. Gowda, being great cricketer is not only about being class batsmen or class keeper. Cricket is a team game, in which what matters is how you drive your batallion. Captainship is not sitting in one corner biting your nails. Dhoni really gives edge by being a active captain on field.

Sreesanth should be dropped from both the teams. He's nothing but a waste. He gives away 100s of runs and takes a single wicket. To celebrate that single wicket he insults the game of cricket. In plain words, HE'S NEXT TO USELESS. Australian team taught him a stern lesson. He made the total team looked ugly after the incident at Kochi (esp the Symonds run-out drama). He's a useless f!!!er.

Look at this idiot.
RP Singh bowled much worse than Sreesanth throughout the series and he finds a place in your team.
It shows how well you know your cricket.
