Best team against Aussies in December for ODIs!!
by Bhasmasur on Oct 13, 2007 01:50 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin Tandulkar(Senior statesman role)
Virender Sehwag
Subramaniam Badrinath
Robin Uthappa
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Irfan Pathan(genuine allrounder)
Yousuf Pathan(genuine allrounder)
Pragyan Ojha
Zaheer Khan/Rudra Singh
Sreesanth/Agarkar

Reserves : Piyush Chawla, Rohit Sharma

Do not be surprised about Bhajji's exclusion... Bhajji is a great bowler but we need a left armer to trouble the aussies and Ojha has a bright future!!

best line up
by kamal rohra on Oct 13, 2007 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

I think line up should be like this and in this sequence only:

1. Saurav ganguly
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. Irfan Pathan
4. V. Sehwag
5. M. S. Dhoni
6. Y. Singh
7. R. Uthappa
8. V.V. Laxman
9. A. Agarkar
10. R P Singh
11. Harbajan Singh.

Got every login to add V.V.S. Laxman as he plays better with aussies and if whole batting line collapse he is in the team just to do relief work and thats y at number 8 and Ajit agarkar's bowling record with aus. is better than other fast bowlers

boss..what is wrong in the team.. deep batting lineup and now a days..300 is not a big score.. so if full time bowler gives such amount of run..let part time bowlers give.. waise bhi we are getting one additional batsman in this

yaar.. there is no need of 5th full time bowlers as all full time bowlers generally give's more than 60 runs in 10 overs so we can share 10 overs between ganguly, sachin, Y. singh and Sehwag

keep sreesanth as 12th man, when any aussie batsman is playing well, send sreesanth ( sub fielder ) to go and chat with the batsman, the batsman will lose his head and get out ... howzzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

Must Musti
by Raam on Oct 13, 2007 01:12 PM

All young cricketars are doing more and more musti now wherever they go! according to a leading new channel. They keep themselves in swimming pool more than in crclet ground. They watch Bollywood films more that vedio footage of rival players. They relax and enjoy while the cricket fans await next macth with high tension and fear of losing the series. BCCI by ging huge cash incentive and Mumbaikars by giving huge reception spoilt the youngsters of today like Yuvraj, Dhoni, Uthappa, Karthik who may disappear from cricket field within 2-3 years considering the negligence they show for serious cricket. Not that they should relax and enjoy but neglecting cricket which gave them all comforts they enjoy now is definitely a criminal act and ditching millions of fans all over the world. God save Team India

Bring back Sreesanth! Ausies get boiled up even if he smiles and conducts himself
by K Chandru on Oct 13, 2007 01:08 PM  | Hide replies

What's the use of so called `sound' technique, if it is not yielding any results? Don't you think 44 runs from 5 consecutive matches means, Dravid is struggling? Give him a break! Break will do him a lot good. The rotation policy does two good things by itself. It avoids early burnup due to playing excessive cricket and gives fair chances to those waiting for their turns. Afterall, Team India cap is nobody's birth right. You need to have it in you and perform to don India colours. It's not bestowed to someone based on past laurels! There's no room for emotions and sentiments here. Dravid has become a burden, a liability to the team now. Should we give chance for another five matches for him to strike form?

My Team will be :

1. Saurav / Sehwag
2. Sachin
3. Uthappa
4. Yuvaraj
5. Badrinath
6. Dhoni
7. Irfan Pathan
8. Murali Karthik
9. Harbhajan
10. R.P. Singh
11. Sreesanth (Ausies get tensed at the very sight of him and commit mistakes)
12. Dinesh Karthik

I disagree with u on yr view about Rahul. Remember, blue chip stocks always deliver, eventhough if its after a correction. He is down at the moment but he has the rite technique to make a grand comeback and scale his earlier peaks. Robin at No 3 is not going to give India a sound start as he has the habit of playing rite across the line which has been smlt by the Oz bowlers and my dear friend, there is no place for Sehwag in this line up. Always remember, class is permanent and form is temporary. This is the time we have to back uo players like Dravid to comeback and give India a comeback against the mite of the oz.

even i don't hate him but the strategy for above line up is get good opening start with best opening pair in world. If it doesn't work we got some power hitters in middle and even if it doesn't work than we have laxman in the end. If you want u can replace laxman with dravid but with aussies laxman's record is better than dravid.

Mr Shah,
I totally agree with you. Very few people understand the nuances of game. Look at Aussies, they have persisted with Hodge despite his failures and Haddin is out despite his heroic knocks. This is the first lean patch which dravid is having and he should be supported. People like sachin are past their prime but their 50% is better than 100% of youngsters. Uthappa has serious technical flaws in his front foot play. With only youngsters, quality opposition will just fry them in longer version of game. 20-20 is a different ball game all together.

Dont comare the mighty windies with Aussi.
by Anniyan on Oct 13, 2007 01:03 PM  | Hide replies

Windies of 1983 can never be compared with the present day Aussi attack. I still remember the reign of terror unleashed by Late Marshall and Co, they beat Kapil's in all department such as there was a cartoon in a daily showing Kapil giving back the cup to Lloyd and asking him to leave us alone. The present day Big mouthed Aussi team is no where near them, Aussi talk better cricket than play, moreover we have proved that they are not unbeadable.

Maybe true that this australian team or for that matter any other team after the 50's may not be comparable to the Windies 83. The fact remains that the Aussies have been the best in business for the past many years and are most durable. Yes thy may be beaten a few times and may be beatable but other teams have to show the consistency to be calles Champs. Mere aggressive posture will not do in the field but solid performance is required.

Beating the Aussies in one game does not prove anything. I have not checked the records but I would not be surprised if our win in the 4th ODI was the first victory in over 10 games aganist the Oz.

By the way, if we go by your defintion, neither was WI unbeatable, for we beat them in the 1983 final by a country mile!

I will agree with the author in that this Aussie domination is perhaps just as good as the 70-80 WI team.

I also will not agree with the argument that the WI of the 70-80 were more sporting. They too whined and whinged at every given opportunity, threatened opposition by tactics that by any measure would be considered unsporting. However since there wasnt any concept of Match Refree or trial by TV, they (WI) managed to get away with it. You only have to look at Holding kicking the stump out of the ground for receiving a bad decision from an umpire to reinforce this view.

This australian team is very professional, perhaps have a little on your face attitude, which gets a bit irritating after a point. But they certainly are worthy champions and offer a lot for other teams to learn from.

Oh... I totally agree with you. For that matter you cannot compare the entire Oz batting line-up against Sachin and Rahul but cricket is a team game where what is important is the sum of the individuals and the individuals themselves.

The current bunch of Australians as a team are much more formidable than any team past or present. They can play attacking cricket but are also never never back down from a verbal duel if it came down to that. They do look invincible and its about time we leave our allegiences aside and stand up and applaud a champion team.

The west Indians may be ruthless but they were not talking about the opponents players mother/sister/wife. Dont compare the gentleman westindians(also great players) with these bunch of characterless good players. I have never seen them going personal in words rather they were giving their replys in bat and ball.

The impression given by bhajji that the aussies are saying vulgar things is all false. Indians are just trying to coverup their poor cricket by distracting the fans with cheap gimmicks & statement. The sardar Bhajji has the choicest of vulgar gallis in his vocabulary & so do the other indians.

i am writing for a long time that dhoni is not good captain and also he is very average cricketer.he does not have timing in shots but only power.he is smart in cashing success.he reminds me of nasser hussain.hussain was very average fellow but he was smart in cashing success.dhoni performed very bad outside sub continent.he also makes lot of excuses.recently he was asked that his own form is not good after hyderabad odi.his answer was that you can not expect centuri from him by playing number six.so why he is not coming at top according to situation.
