Once I was a great fan of Sachin..but not now.....
by Venkata Subramani on Oct 09, 2007 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

My dear friends!!!

Tendulkar wasted more than 70 balls to score 79.. This is about 12 overs. Normally great batsmen in One-day cricket do not waste more than 20% of the balls they face. But this guy wasted more than 50%...

Further, he always tries to score a century whenever he come out of break or someone call him a failure...This shows the attitude of the fellow who has become greedy for the crores and still want to continue...

For few he has wasted balls....but he had the balls to stay in the crease for so long...and see off Brett..who would have been a danger not only to tendulkar but also to any other batsmen in the team... if there was no tendulkar there was no win yesterday, as we would have trailed at a score of say 30/3 or 40/4 and then we would have reached a maximum total of 240 or 250....Indians will only develop when they give up their complaining habit...you me and all....

I dont think any other batsman was struggling as much as Sachin. He was all at sea against Brett Lee. Its a sorry state of affairs but cannot be denied that he played without much confidence.

My dear Friend..

Kapildev saved India from 17 for 5 to a win against Zimbabwe by scoring 175 in 1983 WC...No other batsman in the history of one-day international had made his team to win in such a situation..

BUT WE CANNOT MAKE KAPILDEV TO PLAY FOR INDIA NOW...BECAUSE HE HAS BECOME OLD AND HE KNOWS HIS ABILITY..

The record you say was in 2003..now it is 2007..in 2007, India failed badly in WC..But no one took responsibility for this and resigned..Look Inzy and Brian Lara...They resigned from Cricket itself....

Hope I made it clear....

No you have not made it clear... you have confused it more... The debacle of 2003 worldcup is not only because of Sachin..there were 11 players in team.. Remember he was highest scorer in two & Second highest in one World cup he has played so far.. thats a great achivement.. & Sure nobody can achive that ever.... HE is the greatest batsmen ever & He will remain... Now it is clear

Dear friends!

If you had saw the 2nd & 3rd ODI then, it was found that the opening pair was flopped & within 50 overs India's all wicket get down.

So, if Sachin also try to strike earlyon & get out then India will be out in 150's.

Think about that before saying something against the master blaster.

U know this debate will end when they use technology to show his reaction time to Lee's super bowling at 152.4 kmph ! And I am only talking about a bowler and a (sic) great batsman, no more.

No one is saying anything please. If you saw the game you would have realized the difference in fluency between Sachin and Saurav. Yuvraj, Dhoni, Robin too proved there was no demon in the pitch.

Indian selectors should chose players according to their recent form rather than past glory. The form of Parthiv Patel with the bat should make him to the test side to replace Jaffer who is out of form. Similarly Badrinath Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwary should be included in the Test Team to give them ample time to show their batting skill than forcing them on sitting on the bench for ODI and then just vanish for ever. Batsmen like Uthapa, Yuvraj and Gambhir should be used exclusively for limited over versions than in Tests.

Indian cricket team selection is NOT an election process to have members from all states.
Stop crying...players should be chosen on merit, and not by virtue of being from a certain state.

Badrinath

I think it won't be a bad idea to play him straight away in the next ODI against Australia in place of Harbhajan. The reason I say is because; 1) He is of course a better batsman than Harbhajan, 2) He is a better fielder than Harbhajan, 3) Being a useful bowler after seeing his performance against South Africa 'A' team, India can afford to play with 4 frontline bowlers and use Badrinath alongwith the likes of Ganguly, Yuvraj etc. to fill up the 5th bowler. Moreover, Australians have played Harbhajan many times and they know what type of bowler he is, whereas Badrinath is completely new to them which in fact can surprise them. We may even win the series by playing Badrinath.

Mr. Subramanian
Honestly i am not denying Badrinath's potential, but your views are too optimistic to be realistic. If we apply the same logic elsewhere then we should have a brand new team everytime we play Australia. It would not only surprise Australians but also our own people. I appreciate your eagerness to see Badrinath play, but please dont back it up with such fickle logic

My Dear Prakash Mohansundaram. My arguement is very simple. To beat this Australian side, you need to surprise them. Did anyone ever dreamt India had 1% chance of even qualifying in Super 8 in the T20 world cup. They surprised us by winning the cup, isn't it. My point is the Australians have played Harbhajan many times and to surprise them they can play Badrinath instead of Harbhajan. Who knows; we may even win the series.
