I am glad Laxman is on the team, all you guys who say yuvraj should be on the team instead of laxman basing the call on his "ODI' performance. Hell why not let him take dravids place he got kicked out of the odi team while laxman wasnt even on it so how can you say that yea yuvraj is playing good in odis lets put him in tests over laxmann or _name_. Stfu & go back to your mother to ask for money.

Yuvraj should have replaced Ganguly
by Cool Guy on Nov 21, 2007 08:04 PM  | Hide replies

This is another example of the strong Bengal lobby in BCCI. Actually Ganguly should have been dropped (rested as the selectors like to call it) because he has not performed against Pak in ODI's. But who will face the strong Bengali dominated media who treats people like Ganguly as God. Actallu Yuvraj should replace Ganguly in tests.

IF SACHIN IS THE GOD OF INDIA, SAUROV IS THE SOUL OF BENGAL !!! IT IS SAUROV ONLY FOR WHOM THE ENTIRE BENGALEE HAD SHED TEARS .... WHEN HE WAS KICKED OUT OF TEAM BY THE CUNNING SELECTORS & CHAPPEL AND WAS DETHROWNED FROM CAPTAINCY WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION, EVEN IN FRONT OF HIS WIFE AND SMALL DAUGHTER WHEN THEY WENT TO SEE HIS MATCH IN WHICH HE WAS SURE TO LED.... ANY WAY, TODAY THE PEOPLE OF BENGAL ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE NANDIGRAM ISSUE AND TENSION IS EVOKING DAILY BETWEEN GOVT & OPPOSITIONS.... BUT FOR SAUROV THESE PEOPLE WILL GET UNITED AGAIN AND WILL FIGHT AGAINST THE INJUSTICE, IF ANY THING HAPPEN AGAIN TO SAUROV !!!!! SO GABBAR BEWARE OF BENGALEES... U DON'T KNOW THEM WELL FROM DEEP INSIDE THEIR SOUL....& IF U R INDIAN STOP MOCKERING ANTI-STATE SLOGANS!!!

You are right Ganguly is fit for nothing look at his average in ODI's against PAK and compare with YUVI's.YUVI's gotta strong case in order to get place in Test matches.Ganguly is not only creating problems in tests but also in ODI's cuz Gambhir and Uthappa are capable of opening the innings. These slectors are bunch of brainless people can't see what YUVI's has done for the Indian cricket in past three yrs and he has shown positive intentions to play test cricket with patients. We all know something is not right here.
GOOD LUCK
TEAM INDIA

Saurov has not lost the form.... he was out early against the Pakistanis playing bad shots... He has been scoring runs consistently with 50s numerous times since his return in both ODIs and Tests, leaving the Pakistan series he possess the healthy average since his return..... the only concern is that he had reduced the strike rate a little to make a cautious start.... as he know he is in last phase of career to play for India. He will again do well like earlier days..... if he make the safe start of the innings !!

Let us see how Ganguly faces the bouncers hurled at him by the Pak bowlers. This will give the right answer.

Here are some statistics for all Ganguly bashers!

Since his come back in ODI on Dec 15, 2006, he played 32 ODI's. They read like this (Maches-run-highest-average-100-50):
32-1240-98-44.28-0-12
Yuvraj on his lastest 32 ODIs
32-1161-121-44.65-1-8

Then on 8 tests Ganguly has played since his comeback on January 21, 2007:
8-591-100-45.46-1-4

Let these stats speak for themselves!

GET UR FACTS RIGHT. THIS IS TEST CRICKET NOT ODIs. GANGULY WAS THE HIGHEST SCORER IN THE LAST TEST SERIES IN SA & WAS THE SECOND HIGHEST SCORER IN THE LAST TEST SERIES IN ENGLAND.

It's Yuvraj who himself want Ganguly should be in team India,....... he still wish to sacrifice for DADA who had introduced him in cricket,........ So god also opened the place for DADA in test after Chapple debacle for 1 years by making Yuvraj injured due to chappel's KHO-KHO physical practice...... and Yuvraj had thanked god for that.....So, Ganguly will not mind too if he is replaced by YUVRAJ ! The bond between MAHARAJ & YUVRAJ is the best !!!!!

how to select a team
by veerapuram murali dharan on Nov 21, 2007 08:01 PM  | Hide replies

if u observe certain players in the team, they always score runs and take wickets consistently against some particular oppositions..like, lakshman always scores heavily against aus but flops against pak, SA or SL...bhajji is always dangerous against SA and to some xtent aus, but looks an ordinary bowler against lankans and pakis...so, its always better to choose a team based on individual skills against teams than the individuals overall skills..

With an 'old' captain, what else can you expect. Youth and potential are not important, only old friends are to play. What a crap team. If Kumble had his way, he would have replaced Dhoni also. Why is Pathan not playing?

Kumble wants to please everybody and that too not at the expense of the uncles he shared the last ten years. Kumble's position looks somewhat similar to Manmohan Singh.

VVS can replace anyone in the team. He is the best strokemaker in India. You may replace Sourav with Yuvraj. VVS hasn't got what he is due. He can walk into any team including Australia.

Dont get too gloomy. Lets wait and see some old hands failing miserably aginst Pakis. If they dont, wait till Australia series. The exciting time for young promising guys like Rohit Sharma is just round the corner. Better if uncles of team India bow out respectfully....See what happened recently with the Wall..

v hv tendency to judge the performance of odi and t20 and extend it to test match. but different form of ckt require different players. for the lot of odi played recently, ppl forget the performance of player in test matches played some 3 months back.
just as laxman's batting in test cant b a yardstick for his odi selection, the vice versa is true for yuv.

Laxman is better than Ganguly or Yuvraj
by MVK on Nov 21, 2007 07:52 PM

If you see the records. Laxman is far better player in tests than Ganguly and Yuvraj. If you take Yuvraj's record in tests it is pathetic for a player who has so much talent. But I personally think that Yuvraj should have replaced Ganguly (who is presently not in good form) but for the strong Bengal lobby and the strong media support for Ganguly.

Truly India can create four premium teams anchored at regional centers with players drafted without boundary barriers. Or, have ICL, IPL etc. on NFL Model. Currently India is the one to call shots at ICC.

It is sad to see players like Gambhir, Badrinath, Akash Lal, Praveen, Pujara, Sewhag, Yuvi, Uthappa, Piyush, Manoj Tewary, Joginder, Ranadeb, and so many more, all sitting on bench. So many have been forced out.
