Fielding
by prakash mohanasundaram on Nov 21, 2007 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

One thing's for sure, we will be fielding a terrible fielding side in the first test. I guess barring Harbhajan and Karthik there r no fresh legs. Dhoni is the keeper so cant count him. VVS,Rahul and Tends would have the slips covered. Anil himself is a horrible fielder and Sourav was never known for this aspect of the game anyways. Jaffer is better than Zaheer and Munaf is too lazy in the field for his age.

This is a problem

Elderly Indian Team
by LALIT ARORA on Nov 21, 2007 05:53 PM

The column starts with "India are set to stick to their tried and tested combination". Whereas, it should have been "Tired and Rusted" in place of "Tried and Trusted". All the best to Kumbla and his Elderly Team.

here is another rotten idli

Test matches in 2007
Karthik: 6 matches: 571 runs (1 x100,5 x 50)
Tendulkar: 6 matches: 560 runs (2 x100,3 x50)
Ganguly: 6 matches: 489 runs (1 x 100, 3 x 50)
Dravid: 6 matches 394 (1 x 100, 2 x 50)
Dhoni: 5 matches 313 (0 x 100, 3 x50)
Laxman: 4 matches 219 (0x100, 2x50).

If you want youngsters to be given chance, it should be at the expense of Laxman and Dravid.

Not at the expense of Ganguly. Also Dhoni is a reasonable contributor with bat: even better than Dravid in average and way better than Laxman.

Laxman haven't played against Bangladesh. The average you are showing for 2007 tests includes bangladesh tests in which laxman haven't played and other played superbly in those 2 tests. So don't count on them.Show the scores of all the matches of 2007 tests barring bangladesh.

YES, GANGULY SHOULD BE OUT FROM THE TEAM. SELECT THE YOUNG PLAYERS LIKE YUBRAJ, GOUTOM GAMBHIR, B SEHWAG,ROHIT SARMA,RABIN UTTHAPA THEY'll LEARN FROM SACHIN LAXMAN DRAVID AND PREPARE HIMSELF FOR fourthcoming AUSTRALIA TOUR. BECAUSE FEW YEARS LATER THEY HAVE TO REPRESENT INDIA AFTER RETIREMENT OF SACHIN, DRAVID, LAXMAN, KUMBLE,CHAK DE AGAIN IN TEST MATCH ALSO

NOT THE PAST RECORD, MY FIFTEEN MEMBER DREAM TEAM IS, SEHWAG,GAMBHIR,LAXMAN, TENDULKER,DRAVID,YUBRAJ,KARTIK, DHONI,KUMBLE, HARBHAJAN,ZAHIR,PATHAN R P SING, MUNAF PATEL,S SRISANTH,. SEHWAG & GAMBHIR BOTH ARE STORKPLAYER. THEY'll add 100 run in 20 over but jaffar & kartik only 50-60. now a days test match is not 50 years ago match it is going to be like 50 over ODI MATCH.WHO AGAINST MY OPINION JUST WATCH LAST FEW TEST MATCHES OF INDIA, AUSTRALIA,SOUTH AFRICA.

India should play Yuvraj in first test, as he is very good player, he proved him self many times. Laxman scored only 34 and 28 in his last match (domestec match).

Anil Kumble - Champion player

He has been tagged as Jumbo, Smiling Assasin & wat not in the past. If u look at stats for over 15 yrs, u'll start admiring this champion. He has won more Test for us than any other baller or batsman. He throughly deserves captaincy.
Kick out Ganguly from test squad. Yuvi is suffering due to DADA's past records. Yuvi is future of Indian cricket & doesn't need to prove anything to anybody.

How can Indian team play test matches with only four bowlers? A team needs to take 20 wickets ti win a test match.
They should have taken Irfan.

Karthik should be out of the team and be replaced by Yuvraj Singh. Get Sehwag at the top of the order at the cost of Ganguly - to demolish the Pak attack at top.

Karthik did well in tests in England. He was able to counter the swinging new ball pretty well. He played bounce pretty well too. Pak bowlers especially Shoaib and Gul would try and do the same thing. I dont think we should disturb karthik.
Sehwag as opener....ahh am not sure. His footwork worries me. Especially when he plays that fast outswinger.

i think karthik should keep instead of dhoni as karthik is much better keeper than dhoni, so the team shlld be like:

1. Karthik (w.k.)
2. Jaffer / Chopra
3. Dravid
4. Sachin
5. Laxman
6. Yuvi / Ganguly / Dhoni
7. Praveen kr. / Pathan
8. Kumble
9. Bhajji / Chawla
10. Sreesanth / Agarkar
11. Zaheer / R.P.
