Tendulkar
by sameer shaikh on Nov 13, 2007 12:07 AM  | Hide replies

I want to tell that Tendulkar would not retire from one day cricket nor from Test. Why? Does anyone knows the reason. Why? Just a year or couple of years ago he signed a 200 crore deal with Adidas for 5 years. The integral rule of the contract is, you have to play in order to be eligible for that contract money and with every year, you would get the share of contract money. Once you quit or removed, then the contract will lapse. This is the biggest motivation for Tendulkar to play for at least till 2011 World cup. He might cut down games aksing for rest, but it is 100% he would not retire. Take it

And, why is Adidas giving him such a big money anyways? Do they want to give it to someone who does not earn them back the money?
How can he earn them money. By playing well. Adidas is aware of this and hence they are investing on him.
You could probably suggest them someone else that you have in your mind. I am sure they will honour your request.

Anil has lead Karnataka Team efficiently into the Ranji Finals twice and won both the times. He lead Karnatak side much ahead of Rahul Dravid.

Ganguly was an aggressive captain and this thing is of past.his days as a test player is numbered.he stands exposed with short pitched deliveries and there will be plenty of them down under. With Yuvi playing more consistently in ODI's,he would be more confident in tests. He would be a certainity to replace Ganguly.Ganguly might play few ODI's for some more time.

Just that does not make him to qualify for the Captaincy. Coz, there are many more players in that same boat and unfortunately for you only one qualifies for the CAPTAINCY position.

But, he is struggling to keep his place in testes. But, he would be just perfect for a Non Playing Captain.

Like Saurav does? Why were 'some' people crying so much when he was dropped from the Team? Did he deserve a place in the team then?
May be, for 'some people', he did!!

With due respects to Kumble.....

I dont see him in playing X1 against australia in australia but for donning the captain's role.
We now have very good medium-pacers and Harbhajan and Kartik to spin us to victory. Anil as captain will eat into a playing slot. Very bad decision.
I think a player of certainty should have been the captian and Anil does not fit in on foreign tours.

Every captain is a good one its just how the team performs. When gaugly was captain the team did well a lot more than when dravid was captain(minus the 10 odi win streak) so even if kumble is the captain now I dont think it will change team india much since the team will probably loose the series to any country they play.

I would like to ask that if kumble quits, will laxman get a shot? lol

WACA (Cric grnd in Perth) is one of the bounciest track on Earth. Our batsmen generally struggle there, except for one gem of an innings from a young Sachin (his best innings to date). Also spinners (or any slow bowler) are quite ineffective there.

Well, this is how spinners did for their respective countires, the last time a test match played on this ground:

MS Panesar 24 4 92 5
MS Panesar 34 3 145 3 (Out of the only 5 AUS wickets that fell)

SK Warne 9 0 41 1
SK Warne 39.2 6 115 4

Kumble!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Nov 12, 2007 10:14 PM

If I correctly recall, Kumble has been a stand-in captain of the Indian team. It was about time he was recognized on his own merits as a senior player. Its better late than never.

kumble is not a classical leg spinner we all go to watch a game..Kumble is a fake spinner who just got lucky and who had doctored tracks in india to thank for his success. Kumble cant even e compared to wrist or finger spinners.
Shane warne is a joy to watch, the turn, the googly the flipper...
Even, mc Gill though erratic at times is a true finger spinner not an inswing fluke bowler like kumble..kumble´s career will end in australia on a very disastorous note
