Nobody have the guts to dig up what forced Dravid to give up the captaincy. He had a pretty good run in tests winning in WI, first ever to win a test match against SA, Series wins over Bang and England. Something has happened that has forced him to take the extreme step. No wonder Sachin is refusing the responsibility because he for sure knows what had happened. Will the selectors/BCCI come out with what is haunting Dravid?

yeah, plenty of dirty tricks from seasoned veterans. the veterans know that they are daggers at each other. saurav for sure has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, he played one during the WC against bangladesh, and one slow innings, india was helpless.

what is to be a Good Captain

lots have been deliberated on aggression, retrograde step etc etc.Whether it is a Sr. or a Jr,isn't the point. It is the right man at right time.Aggression comes from within and Kumble has plenty of it.A testimony to this is his comeback after a shoulder injury and the way he bowled in the WI,few years back with a fractured jaw.His long association with the game and his involvement and never say die attitude can be infectious to others ,especially if he displays this as a captain and wins few games. He has seen quite a few captains of almost all types since he started his glorious career about 17 years ago.Being a keen student of the science of the game and a true artist with the ball he would definitely make an impact, provoded all players play to their potential and whole heartedly.Being a senior pro.he is bound to mentor the juniors in his own way. Please give him time and few chances rather than pouncing too early that too prematurely. He hasn't had an opportunity at this level to show all his qualities of a leader.Captaincy is better judged in the longer version of the game.Even with a weak team Tiger Pataudi won matches in 1974-75 against the WI thru sheer thinking though he didn't offer much with the bat.Rather being whimsical and vindictive sned some good encouraging messages. It is very easy to be critical but what counts is constructive criticism.

No ...never Kumble can't be a good captian. A person who has never won a major trophy for his state team , can't be a good captain. The best choice would have been Sourav. But our Pawar the board chief had a huge pressure from south to make Kumble captain. And the great Mr Pawar to save his chair was bound to make this deceison ...Hai hai Mr Pawar and the board...

simply being a captain cant win you matches, yu need a potential side, plus a good management. if saurav was so capable he should have won us all the matches against everyone in the world, since we had a great team on paper anyways. instead he merely was one of the more successful captains. stupid skewed logic by a typical ganguly fan. stupid logic, stupid metrics to support your stupid argument.

U from a old school of thought that only batsmen make good captain. Ganguly is never a person who gives 100% in the field. Anil is a better choice.

Before saying that he does not deserve a place, just search thru his records. After Sachin Tendulkar, he is the best performer for India, who can single handedly win matches for India. Today's youth love player who can shout and show aggression. But we dont hav any respect for a player who has won so many matches for India. It will be wise not to make fun of ourselves by saying, the selection to be funny.

ungrateful is the word for such people, who dont understand a man's contribution and comment blindly. i'm not a ganguly fan for his current status, but he's a genius in his heydays, and he was fantabulous till the time he went out of form. all we need to care about is india's victory. right now kumble is in a good position to hand over the reigns to dhoni. and thats all we need to care about as regards captaincy. the target is win all the series ahead of us - and set some good records for our team... we havent been winning too many tests.

LOL. do you intend to say Kumble spins. not the world. He is neither a leg spinners, rather he breaks the batsman's leg with his pace and bowls straight & flat, thats it. You need to develop a good leg spinner, not still rely on this 37 year, oldieee. You hear this???

kumble is like mcgrath when it comes to control of the ball. he does not need spin. spin bowling is the category he falls into. why bother about which category he falls into ? we have relied on him on so many matches to win, and he has fared really well for india.
