Robin Uthappa - Change for better
by James on Nov 09, 2007 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

Hi Robin,

This is the 4th time, you are getting out in a similar fashion (LBW), playing late and getting your leg across, without noticing the ball.

I think, you should take few tips from SENIOR PLAYERS !!!

pathetic
by vox populi on Nov 09, 2007 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

yesterdays show was pathetic--just look at the field placements and no pressure put on the pakis--am sure dhoni has lost a bit of swagger--how can you not score on a batting beauty? when the paki innings started the indians thought that they had the game in the bag--big mistake--never underestimate your opponents and we lsot--and someone should tell harbhajan to shut his mouth--who before the match said that india will be 2 up--is there not a gag order?

DHONI ERRED AGAIN.
by laxman vernekar on Nov 09, 2007 12:04 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni should go for a stabilised batting order. He erred again. He should stop experimentation and fix himself at number 4 where he was successful too last time. Already he has played with the careers of Dravid and Karthik in that position and now Sehwag. It looks any body you dont like and want out of the team, then send him at number 4. But the fact is its Dhoni and only Dhoni who should bat at 4 to play long and steady innings. So Dhoni erred again.
And why Sehwag didnot bowl? The very purpose of selecting him only got defeated. This again shows Dhoni does not want Sehwag and seems being forced upon. So donot blame Sehwag for this. Then the unchanged team would have been better where Dhoni would have batted at 4 and Murali would have bowled some economic overs or taken wicket of Yunis to take 2-0 lead.
My team for third ODI in batting order is,
1.SACHIN 2.SEHWAG 3.GAMBHIR 4.DHONI 5.YUVRAJ 6.UTHAPPA 7.IRFAN 8.HARBHAJAN 9.MURALI 10.RP SINGH 11.SREESANTH.

we cannot take quick decisions in changing the player, hw these bcci did to dravid judging with one series alone...
shewag cannot stay long if he doesnt have the cricket with in him...
so have the yardstick which u had for dravid too..

Hats off to your spirit Bon Jovi!!!! What you say is true...people who do not come out of their countries do not actually know that Indians and Pakis do share a warm relation...All the hatred is created by the politicians (state) and the media.

Btw kudos to pak for a well deserved victory. From being hit for 175/3 in 25 overs, not many teams come back...Great character shown by Pakistan...Having said that Dhoni sucks...nor does he lead by example nor does he have the tactics...Both Shoaib Malik and Dhoni have a lot to learn as leaders. Head to Head Shoaib Malik has more class than Dhoni and given more time would lead by example. I dont see that happening with Dhoni.

kamran akmal has one thing thats keeping him in the side like afridi had,a blitz.he hits well and can bat.theres another keepr in pakistani circles zulkarnain hes a great keeper like rashid latif but lacks what akmal can provide, pak sees moin in akmal.thats the logic that he is there.if ill decide ill get zulkarnain in for a series so that akmal doesnt take it for granted.as keepers can win matches like of he had held ghambir in first match may be pak cud have jumped in as akhtar was charged up. it costs one mistake costs!
rahman is a gud spinner, like saqlian needed a captain of wasims caliber and confidence of the captain, thats what rahman needs and saqi was world number one spinner during his tenure bowling depth overs even in ones days even when chauhan hit him for six never let go his confidence he took tendu when all india needed was 17 runs but wasim continued with him thats confidence if he gets it and helpful wickets he will be a part of the side.all it needs is a captain to get full from a side.look inzi didnt take akhtar last series in india levelled the tests and won the one dayers.
for me morale is back in pak side i cud see it and they shud stick to what they stuck today.pak being an unpredictable side may slumo 2morow for 150 lol u never know remmeber misbah playing that awful shot when all thatw as needed a cool min 4 bals and 4 runs but he made it a havoc.today again he did it u can eb a v gud player what matters is the execution.

Why Sehwag?
by Raam on Nov 09, 2007 11:27 AM  | Hide replies

Retaining Sehwag for the remaining matches is a foolish decision. He does not fit in this team. He will not be given opener's slot when Gangulli and Uthappa are there. He was lacking in confidence even when India was in very good position. He played like a tailender. I think his carrer in Test and ODI has ended.

I agree with Jayesh. What has this Sehwag done for India?? How many championships India has won because of him?? He can only play against Bermuda, Zimbabwe. Not even Bangladesh. I hope no one has forgotten the World Cup 2007. It was Sehwag who used to start the fall of India. Just because he has scored 300 runs in test match doesnt mean that he deserves place right now in ODI. Remember there is Dravid waiting first of all and toones of youngsters waiting for an opportunity to play. As this Sehwag first to perform in domestic.

If u want Dravid in the team after scoring 200 in Ranji (I am not a criticizer of Rahul...........just mentioning) even Sehwag after being dropped from the side scored a century and picked up 7 wickets in the only Ranji match he got to play and helped his team win by an innings.

To judge a player's form it is not only the runs they score that matters but also the way they get. We should look whether he looked comfortable at the crease. If that is the case I dont think any other player is different from Sehwag other than Sachin to some extent. All r shouting abt good forms of Gambhir, Sourav etc. If Sourav would have been out in the first match when he got some inside edges and looked patchy no one might have said he is in good form. Same thing with Gambhir when he knicked two back to back deliveries of Shoaib. I am not writing this against any player. But I hate people judging form by just looking at rediff scorecard rather than watching the match.

Sehwag had been tried over and over again by Dravid but failed every time.Yesterday also he was not impressive.Dump him for domestic cricket only like his mentor Dravid.

Sehwag was a great player a few yrs back with an avg of 33-34 and a SR of 96-97. People used to praise him as next only to Tendulkar and also criticized him for not scoring consistently ( 1 century 3 low scores).
Now he has stopped scoring centuries and maintaining his avg by scoring 30's and 40's( Scoring freely). People are saying no need to score 30's and 40's let him score big.
The same avg. maintained in 2 different ways.......None of them is good for him to be in the team. Frustrating!!!
