i have read a lot many times below and in other forums about Sachin's failures in South Africa, to point out that he can play only against minnows ... well, he made 199 runs in the series, only 15 less than what ganguly made (214) ... and dravid made only 125 runs in the series ... And yes, I would still say Sachin failed in South Africa, if you compare him to the Sachin we knew as the world's best batsman ... but if you see the whole indian team in South Africa, would you say he was not worthy his place in the team ...

Then don't compare him with other batsman in the world...Let him be playing Ranji Trophy then he will become even greater....He can score more runs than Manoj Tiwarin, Ganguly, Dravid...

Vijay Patel, just tell us who is good in Indian team, who consistently scores and win matches for India....

Dear Divyanshu I guess that you argument is absolutely wrong. A player who makes 199 runs in tests and is second only to Ganguly does not mean that he is worthy in his team. Let me sharean example with you. Sachin in Aus 2002-2003 0 at Brisbane 0 and 32 at Adelaide 0 0 at Melbourne 241 not out at Sydney Final Series average: Around 41 What does it show. He contributed to the loss at Melbourne. Shameless Sachin never scores when it is really required. And even if you see his average in ODI's in SA, it means that he is useless. What was is average in WC 2007. I guess it was around 40. Did he play well? No. So please look at averages and runs See when he has scored. We are yet to see Sachin scoring winning runs in tests. And he says that he has nothing to prove. Any way, life will go on for Sachin as well as for us.

Dear Andy thanks for the reply. Let me tell you for your information that I am not defending Ganguly either. In fact, both are shameless. Get your records straight. Sachin was totally outof sorts in aus 2003. Does not matter if he made 241 in 600 balls. I will hold shameless Sachin responsible for loss against SL and Bang 2in WC 2007. He cannot sight the ball; cannot play seam. And then he makes 129 in 226 balls; that too against Bang. He is the most selfish of cricketers India has ever seen. If you rate 241* as one of his greatest knocks, then I am afraid you are a completly biased person. See 167 by Waugh against SA in 1996-97. You will know what a test innings is all about. And Sachin Endulkar. See his recors if you are carrying his record book. He does not have a single ODI hundred in Aus. It is shameful. Sachin is God. And you must realise that people have started hating him. Don't blindly support Sachin. Because you also know from the bottom of your heart that he has not delivered when India really required him. Ganguly any way, is out of picture. If you carefully read the topic of discussion, then it reads "Sachin in SA" So discuss what is required. Don't bring Ganguly or Brad Pitt into this discussion. See his records over the past two years and you will realise that he has not done anything to Indian cricket. You will yourself see how he fares well thistime. He will score ducks after ducks. And then he will say that he has

Mr Ghosh,
this is really pathetic...if you know about steve's 167 run inning then don't forget tendulkar's 123 again pakistan in chennai..when whole indian team was throwing their wickets... I don't know whats prob with you guys, you always crys over tendulkar's century against minnos. but go and have a look at the scorecard how many others have done that in the inning...if scoring against bangladesh is so easy then why don't every player score century..

Ghosh - India DOES NOT DESERVE TO WIN THE WORLD CUP EVER ...
because it's fan are filled with jealousy and hatred, they stoop to the lowest of levels to abuse their cricketers ... they launch personal attacks, twist facts, write obscenities, malign character.
it is a shame that sachin was born in India. I wish that he and all the other cricketers were born outside India .... because they need not go through this system ...
and mock as much as you can, because that is the only thing you folks can do in life - bark at a person who has proved himself in life (and this applies to all the dravid/ganguly baiters as well)
In the specific case of Sachin, why is that he is blamed for all of India's losses. Is he, the only person in the team? What happened to the ten other players ...
RE:RE:sachin in south africa

People comparing Tendulkar and Ponting are real brainless people. Tendulkar has scored 4 hundred and 3 fifty in Australia against Australia with the Highest score of 241 not out and a very good average of 54.15 Where as Ponting has scored only one fifty with a highest score of 60 and the average of 12.28 in India against India. Know the reason why sachin is called greatest batsman. Ask ponting to score one test century in India before you guys can even compare him with Tendulkar
RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by Ghosh on May 29, 2007 08:32 AM
My dear friend Nandu, nobody can compare Sachin with Ponting. Because Ponting is incomparable. Can Sachin boast of any WC century. Can Sachin boast of any test century or for that matter any test which he won. And that 242 against Aus in 2003. That was the most boring innings of all I have ever seen. Remember what he did in Brisbane. Rmemeber he got a pair of ducks in the Melbourne test match. Remember how he struggled at Adelaide. So friend, please do not compare Sachin's useless and shameless and boring centuries with that of Ponting. Has Sachin won any test match in SA? in WI? I do not remember any Even in the recent Mumbai test match against Eng, we lost beacuse of Sachin. Ponting never plays for himself, but Sachin does. Ponting has been a part of 3 WC finals victories. And Sachin scored 4 in WC 2003, his greatest oppurtunity of becoming an immortal. So please do not defend Sachin even in these times when everybody has started hating him.
RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by India fan on May 29, 2007 03:37 PM
241 of 600 odd balls shame on Sachin, he did not even play through the off side, because he was scared of losing his wicket. Even against Bangladesh Sachin had the worst strike rate among the centurions. Sachin can just play the odd nudges and leg glance, typical of that dumb wicket keeper More.
RE:RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by Nandu R on May 30, 2007 12:39 AM
Please go and learn what test cricket means. Test cricket is not where you score 100 runs in 100 balls. Last year(APRIL 2006) ponting scored 118 against bangladesh in 253 balls. Sachin scored 122 against the same bangladesh in 226 balls. Do you know maths. If you do then please let me know who's strike rate is better.
RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by deep kumar on May 29, 2007 10:21 AM
ponting is a match winner . whereas sachin always fails in important matches . in last 4 years he has hardly won any important match on his own . 2 years back he was leading ponting by 11 centuries in tests . and before bg desh tour lead was reduced to only two . sachin was best till 2002-3 but after now he is not even top 7-8 players in the world . ponting is in top 3 in both form of cricket deep
RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by Nandu R on May 30, 2007 12:31 AM
Tell me one test match where ponting won by himself without other australian batsman or bowlers contribution. The problem with we indians is we look at the end result who won but dont realize its a team game one can not win matches alone. YOu have asked me has sachin won any test match in SA or in WI.Please let mek now if there is any TEAM called Sachin. One man can do only certain things. He just cant win test matches. EVEN if he scores 1000 runs. we still need to take 20 wickets to win a test match. For that we dont have lee, mcgrath or warne in our team.Poor sachin has to bowl as well and still take blames. I pity him to be playing for India especially with Brainless fans watching him play. All other country fans has respect for him. Only Indians dont have.
RE:Ponting VS Tendulkar
by Vijay Patel on May 29, 2007 08:23 AM
Tendulkar has scored 3 centuries in last two years including two against Bangladesh while Pointing has scored 6 centuries against quality oppenents in last year only...Ask ponting to score less centuries then he will become great like Sachin...Ponting needs to score against Bangladesh then only he will be any way near to sachin.
Guys ..I dont like Sachin as i used to like him before....but there is one point i would like to make ..when people say Sachin does not play is crisis situation.. I want to remind you that crisis sitution comes only Sachine gets out... till sachin is playing we dont see a crisis situation..the moment he gets out Indian team reaches to crisis point ...I guess this answers all question why Sachin is not good in crisis sitution

Sachin fans are jealous because Sachin has flopped in South Africa, World Cup and now has the ability to only play leg glances in placid pitches of Bangladesh.

gangly scored last ODI century against kenya in 2003 and innings against Bangladesh. It helped them win.
Bengal tiger - when making statements like these, atleast know the facts:
1992: made decent contribs. had 3 fifties in 8 matches coming in the middle order.
1996 WC - ST had 520 runs; scored 2 centuries and multiple fifties. In SF, a stupid decision to bowl costed the match though ST was the only indian batsman to play comfortably (he scored 65!)
1999 WC - Lost his dad in the middle of the tournament. the rest of the tour was a blur.
2003 WC - promised india's perf after disastrous start (he personally made 50 and 37 in the first 2 matches). he kept his word when he hit 81 (zim), 50 (eng), 98 (pak), 151 (nam), 97 (sl), 0 or 2 (nz), 0 or 2 (ken), 85 (ken-SF) and 4 (fin). the finals was a wash-out after the bowlers conceded 350. pls remember that the rules were different then. 15 over restriction and not 20 over like now.
2007: disastrous tour.
know your facts before you try to demean others. even if he was bad and deserved to be left out of the side, atleast voice opinion in a civil manner ...
oh., i forgot - a lot of cricket fans have nothing to do with LOGIC, FACTS, FIGURES.
RE:response
by Bengal Tiger on May 29, 2007 03:17 PM
Sachin fans have nothing in their agenda other than shouting for their useless leader who flops against good teams like South Africa, flops in world cup and then scores against Bangladesh in placid pitches. The countries interest was and never will be at heart of Sachin fans who want their leader to lead India to a sixth world cup loss with Sachin in the team.

let him play couple of innings on english pitches and then put this question forward. don't make "mitti key sher" against team like bangladesh!
Hello guys, let's change the topic. Let's not waste our time in discussing about that Sachin, who to many of you seems useless because of his present form. So too, any further discussion on him is useless. Take up some new and useful players. Eventhough the selectors may not select them, let us atleast select them for our discussion. What about Suresh Raina who figures in the list of players who are going to define the future of Cricket!!
Answer: Player#1: Suresh Raina ODI Career Player#2: Sachin Tendulkar first 36 ODI matches Player#3: ST's ODI record in the same period that Raina played

So, funny get a new kid and compare the records of a guy who has been sucking the blood of the Indian team for 17 years. Give stability to Dhoni's and Yuvraj for 17 years and they will easily overtake Sachin and that too by playing against good opposition unlike Sachin.

The problem is new players will be shuffled around and rotated whereas people like Sachin will get the luxury of opting out of matches which they want to play and do not want to play.

dear avi, get ur facts checked before using ur fingers to type any thing relevant and irrlevant on a sport icon who has proven himself over years and years. VERY FEW I GUESS...shows ur depth and interest in cricket, which is not played by just your wild GUeSSING. how many times have u been in a stadium watching a real match..never...if watching it from stadium is so distracting from the real cricket then how come you expect someone hitting 37 century to be perfect all the time.
RE:SACHIN A REAL CHOKER
by kalyan chatrathi on May 29, 2007 01:21 AM
avi - according to your logic, sachin should have flopped in 380 matches (99%). but he has got 37 centuries and 70 fifties. are all of them flop?

Out of his 37 centuries 24 are match winning or match saving ones.... so what do you have to say now?
