Ponting VS Tendulkar
by Nandu R on May 30, 2007 12:58 AM  | Hide replies

We talk great about ponting. I accept he is one of the greatest cricketer as well. But that does not mean sachin is no great. We talk about sachin's home record. Have you ever looked at ponting's home record. Ponting has 18 centuries in australia and 15 century in rest of the countries, Where as sachin has 16 centuries in India and 21 in rest of the countries. POnting average 12 against India in India. Sachin average above 50 against australia in Australia. Ponting scored 118 from 256 balls against the same bangladesh in april 2006. If sachin scoring 126 from 226 balls against the same bangladesh we call him bad. this shows people have no knowledge of the cricketers they compare. Not to mention the wicket taking abilities and part time bowling by sachin compared to pontings only batting.Indians will be happy only if sachin scores 1000 runs in all test matches by himself and takes all 20 wickets all by himself. When talking about sachin, we say sachin did not win any match for india.please understand it does not matter how many ever run a batsman score, we still need to take 20 wickets to win test matches. When ponting fail in matches, others like gilchrist or hayden or bevan or hussey etc won matches for them. Australians dont complain ponting did not score a century in 2007 world cup final. because they see it as a team game.we like to blame others. NO power in India, blame sachin, no water in india blame sachin, no money in your pocket. blame sachin.only brainless people do

bling comparing doesnt make sense nandu. why ponting is greater is because of consistency and his ability to produce match-winning knocks in crunch time when most needed again and again. in case of sachin i mean nobody says that he was not great but his time has passed and everyone feels that he should retire when there is even a little bit of respect has left for him in ppls heart. same goes for ganguly, instead of scoring painstaking centuries and try to "show" ppl how "great" they are by reminding of their great record, they should set an example of the coming generation and may be they can play part in devlopin them away from team.

If you guys are comparing tendulkar and pointing then compare their situation/team as well..pressure on pointing is 1/10th as compare to tendulkar because in australian team there are other players as well who scores whereas in india its only tendulkar. When tendulkar fails everyone starts crying about tendulkar performance because india loos that match and when pointing is out cheaply no body noticed because other player get the win for australia.

ashamed to club myself with others ...
by kalyan chatrathi on May 29, 2007 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

India DOES NOT DESERVE TO WIN THE WORLD CUP EVER ...

because it's fan are filled with jealousy and hatred, they stoop to the lowest of levels to abuse their cricketers ... they launch personal attacks, twist facts, write obscenities, malign character.

it is a shame that sachin was born in India. I wish that he and all the other cricketers were born outside India .... because they need not go through this system ...

and mock as much as you can, because that is the only thing you folks can do in life - bark at a person who has proved himself in life (and this applies to all the dravid/ganguly baiters as well)

In the specific case of Sachin, why is that he is blamed for all of India's losses. Is he, the only person in the team? What happened to the ten other players ...

PS: I am not a Sachin fan. I consider that Sachin has not been in the best of form over the last 3 years (2003 end) and has played very defensively.

Kalyan, is it a shame that Sachin was born in India? Worse still is that guys like you are born in India, because you try to obscure the truth in oder to defend your bygone hero. Nor are you consistent, because after defending your hero, at the end you say that you are not a Sachin fan, because you are afaraid of the backlash, you coward. The young talented players are getting wasted and frustrated in our country, because the worn-out horses are not retiring in time and shameless guys like you do your best to defend these useless ones!!!

Cricket is a team effort ... sachin is not the only one to be blamed for all the failures ... if he didn't clicked, why can't the rest of all your so called match winners did their bit to ensure India reaches super-8s ... any answers ???

Why blame Sachin when we dont know what is test cricket?
See this data

In 2005-2006 Bangladesh v Australia - 1st Test (09/04/2006)
Result: Australia Won by 3 Wickets
Man of Match:       A C Gilchrist

Gilchrist Runs 144 Balls faced 212
Ponting (c)not out Runs 118 Balls faced 253

Is it slow boring performance?
or Early worn out wicket?
In last BD test Bangla Desh batting performance suggests that only.
They batted second as I know.

Bye.....

Sachin is known for his sound techniques in Cricket. But of late, he also seems to have learnt the techniques of prolonging is career in cricket by scoring centuries against the week teams and getting injured in time when there is a series against strong teams! Are these techniques sound???

Guys, here the comparison is not between ganguly and tendulkar ... tendulkar is considered to be the best batsman in the world or at least amongst top5 ... ganguly was never ever even considered best batsman in his playing eleven side either !!! moreso ... sachin is praised for his paddle sweeps and straight drives from the likes of bradman and gavaskars ... and all oppositions. The point here is that is sachin still the best on foreign soil and only dravid can match him if at all ... his foreign test record is a testimony to that !!!

yes yes ganguly scored last ODI century against kenya in 2003 and innings against Bangladesh.
It helped them win.
you say "unlike Sachin who will obviously end up like his mentor Bradman, after getting a few short pitched deliveries from Harmison, Tait and co."

Now for Ganguly this BD test series it was funny way of handling Mortaza....

Dude for your information, Sachin sponsors 400 kids in a orphanage. He backed out when the conditioning camps were anounced for players going to Ireland and England so close to the dates for Asia-Afro Cup

If i had Sachin's resources i would have sponsored
40000 kids, 400 kids is peanuts for sachin, obviously by throwing peanuts he is attracting monkeys i.e. Sachin's dumb fans.

This is the right time for Sachin to take retirement right... There is no doubt that he is a great player but time is greatest... If He will continue play he will loose his great ness.. If He needs money there is a lot of option for him.....
He needs to coach the young player and try to get the next World Cup..
Atleast Sachin gets some thing from M/Grath and Shane warne....

Dear Sachin there are lot of sachin in galli cricket , pls go to the Indian tour for finding the true talent who can bring the WC2011...

Dear Friend,
If you know any galli cricket sachin who can replaces this sachin why dont you name it. In past many young gun got the opportunity, some of them prooved also, but none of them could touch the height.

About the retirement, he is still better than half of the team in terms of fittness. He is better than 75% team in terms of batting capabilities. He is still better than half of the spinners we have at domestic level. Then let's leave it to selectors

Sachin is the rock of gibraltar it can't be moved even by Hercules. Only, Steve Bucknor knows how to send Sachin out of the team to the dressing room.We need Steve Bucknor to umpire matches in which Sachin plays rest assured, Sachin will retire each and every game without boring us.
