sachin is playing for a team in which none player is capable to take the responsibility,we always compare him with ponting, but aus team is very storng team and he never has any pressure to perform in the match but if he will start playing for india team the pressure level will be double and i think he will definately fails to perform,so what india team needs,India team needs that all players perform so that pressure does not comes to one particular player

well said! India still needs Sachin at least in test matches if not in one dayers. Even in one dayers it will take some time to find a suitable replacement for him. People who criticise him do that only for the sake of doing it. They forget that it was due to him we reached 2003 cup final. He played as a opener in that world cup. No doubt he failed in the final, but it is he who took us to the final single handedly. After the world cup his batting position has been frequently changed . So to some extent, the team management (read Chappel) was responsible for his failure. So many people are discssing about him in these columns show that he is still considered as the most important member of the team!

Only 5 Centuries against minnows like Kenya ,Namibia[non test playing nation]...and Kenya was the semi-finalist of the world cup'03 10 scores of above 90 against only test playing nations...now can anyone tell me how is
he selfish?? 34 times he scored more than 80 and couldn't reached 100..If he played for his records..he could have easily convoerted those 80's to 100's ...

Hats off to Sachin for scoring another century!BCCI should plan more matches against BD, Bermuda, Canada, Netherlands and avoid playing against the other Super 8 countries, including Ireland. Why take a risk playing against Ireland with Rankin sharing the new ball. Our team will have a 90 percent chance to win and a handsome bonus for winning the series.
Go on BCCI, and suck the crazy cricket lovers of India.

Ricky ponting played 110 matches scoring 33 centuries at an avg of 59.5

Sachin tendulkar played 132 matches scoring 35 centuries at an avg of 55

The above statistics given by you no doubt is really good but the final statitics reveal that he lacks total consistency. The reason why i only want to compare him with ricky ponting is because of the fact that he was compared to Sir Don broadman wrongly

The golden chance to win the test was missed thanks to Sachin, who doing batting practice in the name of playing a test match. He did not play a single shot in the off side region. He just wasted time, similarly in Pakistan he was shamelessly plodding away for his double century
before, he was called back. He was never a team player.

check your facts before you make some stupid and outrageous statements. Sachin scored 241 in sydney and we had Aussies for 250 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of Day 3. The bowlers did not take the remaining 5 wickets till late on 4th day - the lowlight being 2 missed stumping chances by Parthiv Patel off Anil Kumble (the batsman was simon katich). Even on the final day, we required 10 wickets with 95 overs. the bowlers did not finish the job

Do you know the time he took to score 241. It was the slowest double century of sachin. He scored more then 200 runs on the leg side leaving all the deliveries going outside the offstump. Its sachin who ate the bowlers time. Thats the reason the match ended in a draw. Before writing something just think over 100 times

Read this and let me know what you understand

Tendulkar returns to form with a double-century, playing an innings which is quite distinct from any of his earlier efforts. After being caught driving outside off stump several times prior to this Test, here in a monk-like fashion, he abstains from any loose driving and collects his runs mainly on the on side. With Laxman in sublime form at the other end, Tendulkar chooses to hang on his back foot and slowly works his way to his then highest Test score. It doesn't give India victory, though, as Steve Waugh, playing his last Test, hangs on to enable Australia draw the game

did you read this anywhere?

India's chances of victory slipped away rapidly after tea, as a desperate Sourav Ganguly tried a succession of bowlers, but none of them could get the breakthrough. Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag gave Kumble and Murali Kartik a break, but Waugh and Katich motored on. Waugh was his usual pugnacious self, playing the spinners carefully on the front foot, except when there was the slightest hint of length outside off, when he rocked on his back foot and cut or punched through the area between cover and third man. He swept powerfully against the spinners, reaching his last Test fifty with one such off Sehwag

Sachin's honest Mirror
by India fan on May 20, 2007 07:37 PM  | Hide replies

(Sachin is practicing his strokes in front of his favorite full length mirror. He is worried so he decides to ask his "honest mirror" some questions)

Sachin: Mirror, Mirror on the wall, Who is the best of all.

Honest Mirror: Brian Lara.

(Sachin is red faced, but decides to try his luck again)

Sachin: Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the best right hand batsman in the world.

Honest Mirror: Ponting.

(Now Sachin becomes angry, he decides to give the mirror another chance)

Sachin: Mirror, mirror on the wall how long will
my career last.

Honest Mirror: Not even for a single minute. Why
have you not yet retired?

(Sachin is now very angry, but decides to give one last chance to the mirror)

Sachin: Mirror, mirror on the wall what is your opinion about me, after i have given my heart and soul for Indian cricket for 17 years.

Honest Mirror: You are a fake, you should have retired in 2000 itself.

(Sachin breaks the mirror with his bat)

Now, Sachin is worried how will he practice without the mirror.....

(Pawar calls him)

Pawar: Sachin whats the matter, i hear a loud noise from your house.

Sachin: Nothing, my mirror broke.

Pawar: Don't worry i have ordered a custom made mirror for you, it will soon reach you.

Sachin: Thank You, honey.

(The mirror is delivered, Sachin now again decides to ask the BCCI mirror a few questions)

Sachin: Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the best of all.

BCCI mirror: You my Lord.

Sachin:Mirror, mirror on the wall how long will my career last?

BCCI mirror: Till your last breath or till your son joins you in the team whichever is earlier.

Sachin: Mirror, mirror on the wall what is your opinion about me, after i have given my heart and soul for Indian cricket for 17 years.

BCCI mirror: You are God, you can continue for forever and break all records.

(Sachin is pleased and he garlands the mirror and continues practicing).

for your info - cricket is a team sports and esp in test matches - you will win only if your team has the bowling power to take 20 wickets.

wrt Aussies, Ponting is a very good batsman playing in a great team while sachin is a great batsman playing in a very ordinary team...

Ways to motivate Sachin
by Truth Seeker on May 20, 2007 07:25 PM  | Hide replies

Here are some ways to motivate Sachin during different scenarios, never mentioning about what team needs.
When we need some quick runs:
Sachin, think of a quickest century. That will be a good record for a great player like you.
When we need a good stand:
Sachin, think of your centuries record. Think of Ricky Ponting. This is the weakest bowling attack you can find. (And right after his century, he doesn't care about anymore runs :). Dravid has to send a player to inform him about the record of most runs scored in Test cricket. )

Sorry, Bombay friends. I can't help it. I feel obsessive about pointing what's wrong with him.

Why at all do you have to adapt these maens. After all the bowling attack of BD was same to rest of the batsmen . Should'nt they have scored a century.
Dear scoring runs against any body anywhere needs calibre. Quick or slow, after all the oppurtunity was there for all. Same applies to all the contemporaries of sachin. Do not demean someone for the sake of it or else it becomes fashionable. Let the someone replace him on merit . If you have someone who is as bright as sachin was during his younger days just name put comparisons here and lets see. But till such time stop mocking. By this standards one may say that lara made broke the world record so he was mean and selfish.
Cricket is a team game. Cups and tournaments are won by teams and seldom by individuals. Some genious are part of lesser teams that does not belittle their own worth.

Never, why bother playing for the country when you are selected on the basis of number of ads you model for.

Now Sachin wants to score some hundreds for his father, mother, wife, kids, relatives&also friends .He didn't score any Hundred for India.Let him score and let every one bear to see him score his personal records. No value for his every hundred.

if suppose there was no rain and India had won the match, even thought you would tell there is no value in Sachin's century...no wonder India is still lagging in many areas as people always try to downplay others..hmm

shame on you sachin

He is happy the way he batted in South Africa. I could see how selfish he is, putting his personal performance ahead of countries performance. How many matches did India win in SA. Sachin must rather be ashamed of such a performance against minnows. where does his effort go? Only in improving his own record and never was towards countries win. I donno for hw many days would this sachin supporters be showing the back to back century against aus in sharjah as a proof of his mastery(past mastery).

come on guys this is the same bangladesh that ripped India apart in the world cup,Bangladesh now is a good team, so dont call them minnows and disrespet them...

And please guys grow out of that Post World Cup syndrome....its over now, so watch cricket and hope for the next one, you remember there is always a next time.....
