McGrath , Ponting , Lara , Gilchrist , Hayden all BETTER than SACHIN
by V S on May 12, 2007 11:26 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin is just Sharad Pawar's CHAMCHA and a cry baby.

Chappell was poor in man management but Chappell was right that Sachin's best is behind him.

SACHIN SHOULD RETIRE EVERY CRICKETEER KNOWS BUT DONT HAVE THE COURAGE TO SAY
by Sanjay Gupta on May 12, 2007 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

Ian Chhapel was right if Sachin looks at himself in the mirror and looks at his performance of past 2 - 3 years.he has nothing to offer.Injuries have slowed him down. Why not have a yougster in his place. He is doing very much like Gavaskar did playing only to make records and be on the sponsors books.

Dont get personal guys. Please remember and look at Schin;s average of last 2 - 3 Years. We failed in the World Cup as Greg righly pointed out Seniors were not performing yet being selected and yougsters were not given a chance. As it is our team is in the doldrums why not have a younger team. This would be good for the Indian cricket

Hey sanjay be cool....if sachin is playing for his own records, then what about the record he is having for most man of the match record in world cup cricket, I think you know well who gets the man of the match award...and don't prove yourself as a couragious to say that sachin should resign.. first tell me who will give the gaurantee to prove himself better than sachin.

Yogendra how many matches have we won where Sachin has scored. Ponting has scored 15 centuries and Australia has won all that matches. Whenever Lara or Hayden scores Australia wins.Whenever Fleming scores New Zealand wins. When Jaysuriya scores Sri lanka wins. The same cant be said about Sachin he has failed consistently whenever India needed him to perform. The players should play for India rather than for theri records

Sanjay you r not a regular match watcher, you should know if the cricketer wins the man of the match award means 99% there team has also won the match...in last word cup we lost only to Austraila and every body knows who played th e best role to make india in final.. don't tell about pointing...you talk about the austrailian team they in a whole better than india otherwise they don't have any plyer better than sachin.

When sachin came in world cricket, Gavaskar, Srikant all senior player were in the team, they did not left the cricket to give place to sachin, so why sachin should have to give chance to younster, if anybody deserves then he should make his place by his own not by replacing the sachin.....atleast I want sachin & ganguly back in the team, otherwise see the performance in domestic cricket and anybody performing better than ganguly and sachin then only they should be replaced...its my opinion.

i had been watching suchin frm my child hood, i loved cricket becoz of him , whenever he got out i always leave the match , i know this is biasing, but the way he played , th egrace in his batting is there that is not present in even a six by mathew haden, or ricky ponting , he is born jenious and we can not just leave him , i think he knows better when to resign , and it should be left to him. he is a great person too so should not be forced much to loose a great person like him.

yes same the case with me. I am also crazy about his batting style. He knows solution for each and every situation. I am also watching him since childhood and like cricket just because of him. I still remember Indian cricket between 1996-2000 he was one man show. He is the hero. And all the guys opposing him go back to work because you also know the fact that he will come back just like hero and you will praise him for his performance in next 6 months

mohsin is absolutely right. sachin has two to three yrs. lef as a batsman. why dont u ppl understand. if he does not play well drop him. but how can u say that he will not play well after being dropped? treat him at par with others. and dear which youngster are u talking about? dinesh mongia? he has been well tried. uthappa? fail. gambhir? fail. kaif? fail. as a youngster u have to prove urself in three games. u cannot be given 20 games to prove urself. once proven, u can stay. all these have been amply tried. u know ppl praise cricketers after they quit. the one lara is praised. he played for himself the entire life. made 400 runs without declaring. even richards, if u remember was virtually thrown out. and u praise him today. waugh scored only 5 or six centuries and u call him a match winner. how can he win matches by scoring 20 runs?

by km vb on May 12, 2007 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

The way sachin came in to the team at 16-Years of Age,there are many youngsters waiting for a chance to play for India. Then, why sachin cannot quit gracefully viewing his chance he got at 16Years and he prospered financially more than his contribution to Indian Team in Wiining ways calculation? We need support from former/Ex players to write their column to bring young generation. There are players like Manoj Tiwari,Rohit Sharma,Pujara,Badrinath and many youngsters. If Sachin wanted to play for 2 more years,we may loose these youngsters.Youngsters should be brought in to the team at right time but not till sachin decides his retirement after finishing his contractual terms with advertisement.

You are an idiot. We're not BEHIND Sachin, we're AFTER him. "He deserves to play" is your personal opinion. Say that in future. No one else wants him. If 98 % cricket lovers feel that, count yourself in the balance 5 % morons and stop the Sachin eulogy. He's finished and that's it.

Mohsin Khan's comments
by shiva on May 12, 2007 06:44 AM  | Hide replies

Mohsin's comments regarding creating bench strength is very relevant to us. Australia and Sri Lanka have such a pool of talented players who can even form a second eleven and give the same results. I felt if a second team was allowed for Australia, they would have reached the finals hands down. The real reason for the resignation of their stalwarts is that they knew thay will be replaced sooner or later.
In Sri Lanka's case, Jayasuriya was still performing well and fit, but was dropped as others were snapping for attention, and he came back to play even better.

When our top stars falter not only the selectors go out of the way to defend them, alternative seems to be players who had failed earlier like VVS etc.

Regarding Tendulkar, Mohsin's comments were impartial. It is upto Sachin to test his capability and if he does not come good, he should go the Lara/Mcgrath way rather than embarass himself and the selectors. This applies to Saurav and others.

Regarding foreign coaches, we have to evaluate carefully. The matter has been compounded by sniper fire from the sidelines by our former greats, who have been taking pot shots at every opportunity without contributing anything other than staying in the limelight and making money by these worthless comments.

Dave Whatmore was not a great player but he has commanded respect from Sri Lanka and now Bangla Desh for the simple reason he has been allowed to do his job without synical comments from the sides. We seem to have "special issues" on this matter to accept forein coaches. I feel Mohinder Amarnath should be tried as he was a totally fearless player, well respected and without controversies.

Finally, Mohsin's comments are like fresh air, when compared to what I see from our former stars, who have been outright partial to their state, region etc.
