again a performance once in a blue moon. what is needed from dhoni is consistency as consistent as he is doing the adds. with out any piror training. really the whole bunch of cricketers r only playing for money and nations sentiments means nothing to them.

consistency hmmmmm.....
get ur stats right samit
Dhoni's played 74 matches with an avg. of 48 & strike rate of 99.
Not many cricketers till date have been able to match this.
Dont expect anything more frm a HUMAN BEING.

You expect consistency with sachin who has an avg of 44 and a SR of 86 in a career spanning close to 18 Years. Then ,y can't v expect the same with Dhoni.I know that Dhoni has the calibre, but i'm not satisfied with his stints with the bat overseas,on subcontinent pitches though,he has done incredibly well.

As an indivisual team members have good record but as "Team India" the record is disasterous. This shows lack of team spirit and lack of cooperation. So Untill and unless the team plays for the country their is no point of indivisual performance.Every player plays for himself and not for the country.

Dhoni's batting.
by ACARF on Jun 11, 2007 08:10 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI should fix up critaria for players batting or bowling against different teams and at home ground or outside India.
Against top five teams of the world our players must score 50 runs and for bottom teams they must score 100 runs to be eligible for selection

Otherwise these players will not enhance their
capability against very good teams. They will
be selected by performing better against very poor teams and earn a lot of money.

Nation's pride is not their target.

ACARF.

I fully agree with ACARF. That criteria of 50
plus runs playing the top 5 teams will only leave Sachin , Ganguly , Laxman , Dravid , Zaffer , Sehwag . Of these , there is limited choice. Sachin is over the hill .
This rule must me introduced , then only really talented players will be there.
Great peformance by Dhoni playing against a second rate team and that too , in , INDIA. Outside is a different story , rather no story. Dinesh Karthik has some class and talent , should replace Dhoni.Yuvraj , Robin Uthappa should not be in the team.

With the present team and tate of affirs , India"s tour of Ireland and England will be a disaster -- similar to Wadekar"s team performance in 1974 on English soil. BCCI has no choice but to turn to Laxman , to rescue Indian cricket .
I only pray that BCCI does not play dirty politics and drop Laxman and Suresh Raina for the England / Ireland series. With the ball swinging on green pitches , our batsmen are expected to fail miserably , angling the outgoing deliveries and Harminson and company wil have a feast.

If we are still playing crickert today , all the credit should go to our bowlers - Irfan Munaf , Kumble , Sreesanth , Zaheer. The batsmen have let us down with unfailing regularity . Time for selectors to take Laxman or else , India will get a drubbing from even Ireland , mark my words and England will dominate , outplaying us in all deparments -- batting , bowling and fielding.
Dravid will have no clue , run helter skelter.

i see no point in creating all these confusing systems ... its great if india win but its not a matter of pride or shame .. its a game, if you are not good at it ..forget the loss ...improve the game ... WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE NATIONS' PRIDE? game is to enjoy .. you cannot teach them if they don't know ..stop chattering and just replace them with those who can play ..if you create an issue of pride it becomes miserable

Mr. Scroogie perhaps you do not know about indian cricket. It is worshiped in india. This is how it is in the sentiments of the indian people. As you can see there are some teams in the world those do not have runs equal to Indian top order or whole one team does not have centuries equal to one player of India.
If this is the case , why indian players wears indian logo in his helmets and dressings. this is because they arre representing india. so, if india wins it is the matter of pride. Understand Mr. Scroogie.

Great! But he needs to be utilized in a proper way. Board needs to have an Intelligence & reasearch wing - to guide our players against the weeknesses / powerpoints of opp. players. The wimg could add a shield to the team. Protect Dhoni Please!

Well, take away dravid and sehwag, put in an inspiring captain like mahela jayawardena, create a match where you can play your natural game, and you get to see players like Dhoni and Harbhajan dazzle :D

Please play when it matter the most...doing tons of run in placid subcontinental pitches are not giving us any pride...u know that better than anybody.
Please score some centuries outside the subcontinenet and help the team win.
anyway, congrats it was a great knock !!

Consistency?????
by Gopi on Jun 11, 2007 05:02 AM  | Hide replies

Indian Cricket fans are crazy. Will Praise and start worshiping a player when he scored more than 100, put him and his family in trouble when he does not perform. A Barbarian Cult.

A Player must perform in a give condition. None of the player in current Indian squad has that capacity. They are not professionals....
