The curse of captaincy...
by Peter Parker on Jul 27, 2007 06:02 PM  | Hide replies

From dravid's performance you can see that captaincy has an impact on performance especially if you are batting. I personally feel that bowlers are better as captains.
Although the quatret has a few years of cricket left in them, its high time to look for replacements for all four. In fact i would suggest resting 2 of the quatret for every other match and getting on 2 new guys..

Really..?? Bowlers as captin..?? Well i dont recall any good example..We had Bedi, venkataraghavan as captains...Even other countries Polock for SA..Akram for PK Streak ZA, Hadlee for NZ , Walsh for WI couldnt produce better results.......And replacement for all 4 is very adventurous statement i guess...Its not right time ...I think coming year will decide it for sure...

Indian Team is best in offering excuses
by sudhir chauhan on Jul 27, 2007 02:51 PM

Mr. Rahul Dravid

please stop giving excuses. its enough now. lot of cricket should be played, but why you try to play all the matches, why you cant opt our for few series and take rest.

please dont blame it on others, only you and your team mates are to be blamed.

Matured observation
by Satyajit Mahapatra on Jul 27, 2007 02:22 PM

After a long time Dravid has given a matured observation. Whether it will really implemented is anybody's guess. What he is talking about is more stability to get better performance. I don't think he is talking about playing at home throughout the year. Playing couple of fixed month will surely help. Australia always plans one of their domestic tours around Nov to Jan in the year and everybody knows the results are good. Some people commenting here do not have idea what sustained pressure over period of years can do to your body and mind. Filling the team with newcomers just because exprienced lot is feeling stressed out is not the soln. Some of the new guys would be able to withstand the pressure but rest will fail. A well composed team (take Australia) doesn't do thinks like that. Just because crickets are getting good money doesn't make them machine, able to work 20 hrs a day 365 days of an year. They are human and need good scheduling to perform better.

Fixed home season

Dear Mr. Dravid,

We had a fixed home season. During the month of January we had lovely, memorable cricket palyed for country.

Ask BCCI to continue to have match during Pongal Season in Chennai.

Excuses
by Chatur on Jul 27, 2007 01:57 PM

Indians always have a good excuse after they loose or are in the process of losing matches. Lets assume we have a fixed schedule like Aus or Eng whats the guarantee India will any of those series.
If Dravid and the older guys in the team are so tired of playing why dont they take rest and allow the younger guys like Tewari,Sharma and Chwala take up the mantle. They would perform much better than their captain, vice captain , One series wonder (Laxman) and the come back guy(Ganguly)
Lets start winning Mr Dravid. When will we start seeing that.

fixed season
by Arun Thomas on Jul 27, 2007 01:49 PM

The indian captain always has an excuse for the team's debacle. This team will not win a series abroad. To win a series abroad the team should be committed & dedicated. They are in england with their families for a short vacation since monsoons have started in india.Anyway the scheduling is excellent. The big three has played more than 100 tests and scored more than 10000 runs till now they dont know how to play the moving ball.since the tests are during the rainy season india will not have to lose the test series.A fixed home season for rahul dravid is to play test matches against bangladesh, bermuda, ireland so the big 3 can score centuries & pile more runs to improve their averages& win matches convincingly." how much you try to straighten the tail of the dog it will remain the same".

Great Strategy - Fixed Home Season !!!!
by Bhola on Jul 27, 2007 01:08 PM

Dravid would like that the Fixed Home Season should be other then the Rainy Season because then India will be playing entire year on Home Soil where it is a TIGER.
Also ,in rainy season India should play in Foreign Conutires so that all matches end in a Draw.
In this way, India will become an Unbeatable team !!!

Indian Team
by RAKESH DOGRA on Jul 27, 2007 01:04 PM

No one in Indian Cricket board or in any sport for that matter in India is really worried about quality of game and the winning %age of our team in India or abroad.
In India it is the accountability that is missing. Most of the times Only players are punished.
KPS Gill continue to head Indian Hockey even when standard and result of our hockey is a big Zero.
People like Suresh Kalamandi and other politicians have hijacked indian sport bodies and are clinged to top posotion rather shamelessly.
Same is the case in cricket.Politicains are heading almost all cricketing associations.
Whatever Dravid may say nothing is going to improve unless we change entire set up which is very unlikely.
Our sports will run much like our politics and governments.
