ICL is not a parallel cricketing body!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Jul 26, 2007 08:26 PM

BCCI's fears are aptly understood. The office bearers do not want to lose the hefty financial strings that they can hold unto. As the richest cricketing body in the world, it is all a matter of a false halo converging over bosses like Sharad Pawar, Niranjan Shah, et al. Going by experience of Sa re ga ma pa and Antakshri, ZeeTV, India has encouraged budding candidates who would otherwise be lost in the oblivion. Going by statistics how many youngsters has BCCI National Academies of Cricket produced, and how many of them have played in the junior, senior or other tournaments. Nine out of ten times we see the same people being mentioned, and not ruling out favoritism and regional bias. Let ICL groom the players at the grassroots and there is no harm for those who perform well to be recognized as players India can be proud of. There is no dearth of intelligent, hardworking players, except that they don't have Godfathers to push them into the world of recognition. BCCI is a money hungry body which fears its bank balance will go down, needless to say that that it would hardly make a dent on its assets.

I think 5 or 6 have applied for such a less number of application he tells like he has no relation to it. Any indian has applied i think so... When Chandrakant pandit has applied. These people are nerds, they can't speak out the real facts, very sadistic people ... Y they have problem with ICL when ICL in turn will give cricket much more than needed. New talents new opportunities... BCCI thinks they are superior than anyone... they have done nothing to improve cricket in India all they are worried is how much they earn.. do Mumbai politics... People dont think who speaks well in commentry are good for cricket... internally lot of polictics they do 1. Gavaskar 2. Ravi Shastri 3. Sanjay Manjrekar are all Tendulkar and Mumbais agents...

Whatelse to tell words are lost to give them good slaps....

ICL is the way to gooo
by on Jul 26, 2007 07:54 PM

One of the reason why Aussies are on top of the world is that kerry packwer cricket made then stand on their heels..... i think ICL can do eveen more... BCCI does not give wht the indian fans deserve... lack of good stadiums (no roofs in this sort od climate)..... no good coaching facilities.... just some batting pitches which does not produce any talent,....... well BCCI is nothing but a bunch of fools... the two most worst performing teams r those who has the worst management.. west indies n India, Pakistan is also there in the race ...... Please dont complain about the players since they are ruled by a body who doesnt have yet appointed a coach..... then how can they run cricket in a nation.....

good thing to happen for Indian Cricket
by viswa nathan on Jul 26, 2007 07:30 PM

Onething is for sure..whether the ICL going to be a hit or a flop, only indian cricket is going to gain. There will be pressure for the BCCI for sure to behave or perform more professionally. Not accepting the intensity in the Ford chapter only shows their attitude towards cricket. Nobody has any idea where all these money go and they say they have their own style !!! pathetic !! More and more politics into cricket will only see it downfalls.

Does BCCI really represent India
by Susobhan Ghosh on Jul 26, 2007 07:30 PM

Recently the Indian Cricket is controlled by the rich sponsors and politicians/tehnocrats such as Sharad Powar, Niranjan Shah, etc. They really do neither understand cricket nor they care about India, they only care about the money they make. But they would not miss a chance of claiming about their piousness, and criticizing ICL and labelling them they do not represent India. In fact they are very worried about ICL because sooner or later cricket players like Akash Chopra, Laxman, Gambhir, Ranadeb Bose, Balaji, Kaif, Joginder Sharma, Jhunjhunwallah, Badrinath, Parthiv and others would be very tempted to join them. It is the money that talks for the players also.

If ICL can fund good tournaments, they might replace BCCI, may not be immediately, but in the next 5-10 years. So BCCI administration does not have much time to loot the treasury of BCCI.

Would BCCI stop claiming they care for India. They got to be transparent in the area of finance, selection, elections, and administration first. Instead they are busy making plan how to become President of ICC two years from now when Mr. Powar is no more a cabinet minister. He knows that he can not climb any more ladders in the political arena, and thus he better make enough preparation to step in the position of President of ICC.

shah!!
by SunilB on Jul 26, 2007 06:55 PM

Shah's comments that "we've our own style of functioning" shows how much he cares for cricket! This "style" has led to Indian cricket being where it is. We need professionals and not amateurs like shah to run the game in India. Boot these oldies out and get some former cricketers (test and first-class ones, not those who can just hold bat)to run the game in India. Otherwise BCCI is going the way of ACB in the Kerry packer years in Australia.

BULLSHIT!!!

BCCI is nobody to stop anyone to start a new cricket organisation or organise tournaments. BCCI is not a government body, right? You morons yourself proclaimed that BCCI is an independent body and the players represent BCCI, not India.
SO WHY THE HELL ARE YOU WRAPPING YOURSELF IN TRICOLOUR???
THE MONOPOLY MUST END!!!

BCCI is Bombay,Gujrat,Hyderabad Cricketers Association. All states in India only get to field
1 team, but these 3 states put together field 8 teams in total in Ranji League.

ICL will be good for Indian cricket
by Makarand Vaidya on Jul 26, 2007 06:07 PM

ICL will be good for cricket in general. It will keep ICC honest. ICL will be bad for BCCI for sure. That may be good for Indian cricket !

Shah says, they support other tournaments which their state associations bless ! So they support the ones that pay to BCCI !
