Shame to Indian cricket!!!
by Deepak Sahoo on Jul 27, 2007 12:22 AM

BCCI is no more than than a shame by acting against Indian cricket. Indian cricket is laden with politics at the moment which is affecting the most celebrated game of the country. BCCI-the richest board among the cricket playing nations, has failed to find a coach for the national team and still is shameless enough to declare that the team doesn't require a coach right now. A coach plays a vital role while making strategies and game plans. Indian cricketers struggle when they land on foreign soil and it requires an able coach to guide the team. But BCCI is more than happy to send the manager, the bowling coach and the fielding coach along. Time is not far when the team might travel without these bowling and fielding coaches as well. We might see the captain of the team donning all these roles. This all reflects the ridiculous money minded management of BCCI. Every process needs a change and ICL aims at achieving the inevitable for Indian cricket. BCCI is cheating numerous Indian cricket fans by not recognizing ICL. BCCI's radical stand on the players and officials and the threat from Mr Niranjan Shah (note the tone) - 'But they must be prepared to face the consequences'- explains it all. It shows the autocratic nature of BCCI. Such a shame for Indian cricket where a handful of mindless people run the administration. Time is not far when we'll be seeing India in the bottom of the rankings and still BCCI will be having their explanations ready. GOOD LUCK FANS!!!!

BCCI does not mean India
by Kiran Tauro on Jul 26, 2007 10:19 PM

Shah says: "There is no national pride attached to it when you play or work for something like the ICL."

BCCI has told the Supreme Court that Team India represents the BCCI and not India. Thus if there is pride associated in playing for BCCI, there is as much or more pride in playing for the ICL.

You play in a city league in a Western country, and your team is mostly Indian, while the other team is non-Indian - there is even National pride involved there. But what would the BCCI know about national pride? They have run the national team to the ground despite having the greatest human and financial resources any other cricket playing nation can have. The BCCI should be disbanded.

How BCCI is cheating everyone
by Bengal Tiger on Jul 26, 2007 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

BCCI is supposed to give equal chance to players from all states, but does this happen in reality NO!

BCCI promotes cricketers primarily from West Zone (Maharashtra, Gujarat).

There are 3 teams from Maharashtra in Ranji league:

1) Maharashtra
2) Mumbai
3) Vidarbha

Same is the case with Gujarat:

1) Gujarat
2) Baroda
3) Saurashtra

Similarly, Andhra Pradesh has 2 teams:

1) Andhra Pradesh
2) Hyderabad.

This is a total farce in the name of zonal selection, just see the simple math:

Maharashtra & Gujarat (talent pool of 11 * 3 (33) players) against 11 of Other states.

Similarly, Andhra Pradesh (talent pool of 11 * 2
(22) players) against 11 players of Other states.

This is total fraud in the name of selection policy and smacks of zonal nepotism.

Cricket is the number one game of India can anyone explain why a densely populated state of UP get to field only 11 players, despite the fact that in every village of UP, Bihar,Bengal,Chatisgarh kids play cricket.

This is the dirty game being played by Niranjan Shah and Pawar the 2 hooligans who are right now
ruining the game in the name of promoting their zone players.

Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh should come clean and field only 11 players. It is the job of BCCI to ensure fair play which it never will.

That's why ICL is going to succeed in promoting talent and BCCI will fail.

Bunta your Maths is weak. Selectors are from respective zone each. How many players play from state does not have bearing on selection.

If you want cricketing backword class state quota then come clean on it. If you want Bengal reserved quota then say so.

Moron there is something called Chairman of selectors (the cushy job on which shameless Vengsarkar) is sitting and ruining Indian cricket.
The other selectors do not have the powers which Mr. Vensuckkar has (that's why that joker is enjoying a nice trip to London).

You points are valid, however these arrangements are not done by Naranjan Shah and Pawar. It has been done much earlier.
You lost the credibility of argument by dragging Naranjan Shah and Pawar in this issue.

Shah and Pawar are just continuing the traditions of Mumbai hooligans by not disbanding the surplus teams.

ICL is unauthorised

The BCCI doesn't encourage any unauthorised tournament - Whos is BCCI to say it is unauthorised if people of India accepts ?
I would ask Mr. Niranjan Shah to clarify why and how it can be unauthorised. You should prove with facts and figures to say.

What is all this hype about ICL. BCCI is unnecessarily creating a furore. If ICL is able to produce good cricketers our country stand to gain out of it.Just leave this issue, Concentrate on creating good players.

TO ALL INDIAN CRICKET FANS
by Nandu R on Jul 26, 2007 08:49 PM  | Hide replies

Please understand the truth that we Indians have not been good in any sports compared to other countries. Only in cricket we come close to being top cricketing nation. Instead of blaming players and bad mouthing. Please respect for the achievements what they have done for the game and for the country. No one in this world is perfect. Please allow them to play their natural game. Let them excel in theirs respective sports or fields. Appreciate them for what they have done instead of blaming them. Debates has to be healthy, meaningful and most importantly it should be aimed to correct ones mistake or to make them improve. Do not blame others for each and everything

Not sure why BCCI is scared of ICL; probably the they suspect that once ICL comes to the fore, BCCI would be losing the huge cash inflow as most of the sponsorships would be diverted towards ICL. Whatever it be, BCCI doesn't have any right to give verdicts about an organization that aims at producing better cricketers. BCCI should recognize ICL and both bodies should work together for the cause of Indian cricket. As a die hard fan of Indian cricket, its a shame for me to realize that BCCI shuns ICL due to reasons purely political.
