Sreesanth reveals deriving inspiration from Ganguly London, July 21, 2007 First Published: 16:35 IST(21/7/2007) Last Updated: 17:18 IST(21/7/2007)
Admitting that he had butterflies in his stomach on his maiden Lord's appearance, spunky Indian pacer S Sreesanth said he derived inspiration from Sourav Ganguly before hitting back with a vengeance on the second day of the ongoing cricket Test against England.
Sreesanth was all sound and no fury on the opening day and was clearly a disappointment with the ball. He confessed that he got overwhelmed playing at the historic venue and also by the sense of big occasion.
However, watching Ganguly bowl in the right areas inspired him to come back and redeem himself with a splendid three-wicket haul.
"Yeah, it was a case of nerves, playing at Lord's. That's exactly what happened to me on the first day," he said after polishing off the tail with fine figures of 4-1-11-3 on the second afternoon.
"However, when I was standing at fine leg and I saw 'Dada' (Sourav Ganguly) bowling, he really inspired me. He got (Alastair) Cook out, the first wicket, and showed us the way. I'm thankful to him to be honest."
"He was hitting the right areas and I said 'okay that's the way to go'. I like to make the ball move, make it move away from the batsmen. That's my strength and that's what I followed."
Of course, the three-hour rain delay on the second day helped him to gather his thoughts and work out his game plan

Whats so big about it? This is not the Greg Chappell era where the players have their mouths shut when asked about Ganguly.
India will still win this match. If Dada gets aggressive he will score a double century in the 2nd innings and he will take off his shirt and wave at Lords. Just wait and watch. Don't make unnecessary comments about our Dada.

Ha ha, what a joke. Ur dada is trying hard to stick in the team. It is quite evident with the way he is batting these days. He tries to go off strike by taking a single by nudging the ball even when the tailhanders are around. I think he should be replaced by Yuvraj. y the way i would also like to tell u that in the 149 innings he has played, he has never scored a double century :), how the hell he will score a double in the second innings ( ha ha ha :) ). Please be practical because it is time for him to retire with some respect whatever he earned as an indian captian during his tenure.

at least he is scoring... and what respect... you will never respect even if he retires now... and the people who have respect for him, will respect him no matter what

Yeah he is scoring around 20's but the way he goes into a shell is bad for the cricket lovers. It is also bad from the teams perspective. I think yuvraj would be a better choice in his place.Laxman is not a number 6 batsmen for sure. He cant hit over the top. Play laxman at 5 and play yuvraj at 6 followed by dhoni at 7. Anyways it is my opinion :( ...
I had never seen the opening bowlers from any country spraying the bowls on both sides of the wicket so much. I dont understand what is wrong with shreeshanth and zaheer. Shreeshanth was always bowling on batsmen's pads and zaheer was not making the batsmen play enough. With this bowling line up u cant expect more. I think it might be 3-0 to england in the series if dravid and tendulkar bat exceptionally in the next few innings. It is sad not to see Agarkar, Munaf and Phatan in place of the in experienced quick bowlers like ishanth, randeeb bose and Shreeshanth :(....
No big deal that the Indians crashed to the pace bowling of Anderson...It doesn't surprise me at all as only the least can be expected of the current team.I only hope they change the name of the team to BBCI so that i can stop watching their cames alltogether.
Prasad is a bowler who was slow, and always overpitched and on pads. He has taught the same thing to the Indian bowlers, and taking turned them into his bad form.
So what happened to the great batting strength of India and the depleted English bowling. I don't even want to imagine how Indians would have performed if England fielded their full strength team. Why is Yuvraj not in the team? He was the match winner in the one day games in England prior to this test. Is is politicking by BCC that is controlled by Mumbaikars now? Another example is Harbhajan Singh who is playing wonderfully in the county cricket but he was not considered worthy by these selectors. Dravid's field placements and bowling changes lack strategical thinking. At times he can be seeing staring at his shoe laces. I would love to see Saurav Ganguly as captain and Yuvraj Singh as his deputy. The current leadership is too timid!!!!

It frustrates to see dravid's captaincy.why cant we have the best person for this role do the job~ganguly or if we r grooming someone for future then yuvraj.this is a request from all punjabi's living abroad not bengalies so dont give it a regionel turn

I do not think that there is any problem with Dravid's captaincy. He is making good bowling changes--for example, bringing Sreesanth after R P Singh got the wicket. It was a good move by Dravid. I am still optimistic that India might win this match..

even a kid knows the politics and money power control the selection process? only by depending on opponents performance sometimes we win.but still we seet he match as an indian.so we have to bear with that.

You are a Singh so you want Yuvraj Singh in the team, what could have he done in these conditions?Even the great Tendulkar and Ganguly couldnt score much here,Yuvi cant play swinging ball in Test cricket,he is a good ODI Player, dont try to exploit the situation and support your Sardarji Yuvi

Let's not give it a regional twist. Your response was so typical of the problem Indian Cricket face.
