Firest test
by Raam on Jul 20, 2007 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

Before blaming bowling of Indians we should give respect to batting strength of England. Unlike in India when our players spend the time between two series in managing restuarants, posing as models for ads, participating in fashion shows or inaugurating boutiques, English players seriously play county cricket to practice and improve their cricket. They are professionals for whom Cricket is the only ocuupation. For Indian players cricket is just a part time job as other priorities listed above are the main money spinning jobs!!

oh...is that the truth?? Players in England do not manage restaturants, pose as models, participate in fashion shows or inaugrate boutiques because...well....they are just not popular enough and cricketers are just not followed there as much as it is done here in India...you think every english cricketer is a professional...consider steve harmison who wanted to flee out of Australia as fast as possible when they were getting mauled because...hold your breath...he was missing home!! And you want to talk about english sportspersons?? David Beckham, one of the most popular player not only in England, but all over the globe, is considered the most metrosexual of "all" males in the world, which means, he has a lot going around the fashion world or the glamour world on the whole. So, why don't you doubt his commitment to his sport?? Success brings in a lot of change to every person's life...in very different ways...but what do you know??...you there sitting in your AC room...IPod in your ears...working your ass out for a multinational...its easy for you to "comment" there isn't it??Don't you think you(or for that matter...a lot of "fans" in the indian public) are showing traits of jealousy a little bit???

Indian players do off the field what they do because
1) Its their right to...you can't stop someone from living their life can you??
2) They have earned it...they have toiled, and defied odds as much as the likes of you will never do
So..please give credits where its due!

Kunal, they should have made you Manager of Indian team in place of Chandu Borde for England tour. You take better care of them. They need moral support which u only can extend. You must have been employed in one of the restuarants run by cricketars. I am not jelous about their earnings but if I am paid a small share of their booty like how you got from them I would have kept my mouth shut.

ya right, TYPICAL eh??!! Who doesn't needs moral support btw??!! The players need it more than anyone else..and its not about working in their restaurants or being paid a small share of their booty, its about backing our sports person who perform on an international level, appreciating them, and not flaying them in public forums like you do!!But hey, thats the easy way out to vent out your frustrations isn't it buddy!!! You've got it all wrong!!

And you want me to keep my mouth shut...you start first, and see if I follow!!

India Vs England - Lords - Day 1
by Arvind Seshadri on Jul 20, 2007 10:24 AM

Being an Indian fan is not all that easy.

England started off very well, helped to some extent by a indiscplined bowling from Zaheer, Sreesanth & RP Singh. Infact Indian were lucky when part time bowler Sourav Ganguly picked the first wicket.

Dinesh Kartik's over enthusiasm when it comes to fielding often proved to be a problem for him. In one of the one day matches I can recollect he had dropped 4 catches out of which 3 catches were very simple. He dropped Strauss when he was in 40's. Things would have been little different had he held on to the catch.

Anil Kumble time and again proves that he is the main backbone for Indian bowling. He did well to take two wickets though initially he was struggling.

Way Forward - I dont really have high expectations as Indian fan and have started to take things as they come. I am looking forward to the Indian 1st innings batting.

Hope Indians can restrict England to a decent total else psychologically we will be affected and that will reflect in our batting.

India need to think about bowling, it is a great cause of concern. English conditions favour fast bowling and our bowlers have failed to capitalise. India is backing the wrong horse in the form of Zaheer Khan. Hope they come with a better bowling strategy for the matches to come.

GOOD LUCK INDIAN TEAM - True Supporter Of Indian Team

This is the beauty of Test Cricket
by Krishna on Jul 20, 2007 09:33 AM  | Hide replies

When a game is played between two teams for a period of 5 days and 2 innings each, there is an obvious scope of swing of fortunes. This is the beauty of Test Cricket. If the matches go one sided, no one wants to watch them, even if india is winning. But when both the teams fight for upper hand over other session-by-session, then it would be interesting. i hope this series gives us that treat and India should emerge as the series winner.

India can bounce back in this test as we have taken 3 wickets in the post tea session. If we can restrict England to 350 we can score around 450-500 and can win the test on the 5th day with full 4 days test match remaining.Weather permitting we can even win the test match.

You are a very optimistic individual!! Too optimistic for your good!!
First of all, England will not collapse t0 350!!
They would make atleast 450!! After that, we will crumble against Chris Tremlett and Anderson and get bowled out for less than 300!!

After that, Strauss will get the hundred that he missed in the first innings!! And they would set us 400 plus to get!!
We would be bowled out for less than 250 to lose the test by a whopping 200 runs!!

Cheers!!

Utpal Parekh. If Srinivasa Rao is optimistic, then u r pessimistic. But unfortunately both are unrealistic. Things won't be as ideal as how Mr. Srinivasa Rao hopes, neither they would be as bad as u r expecting. i feel there would emough fight from both sides and if india can bat well in their first innings, we can trouble england very much.
