Part 2 of Naked and Dead -- biased?
by Vijeth CM on Jan 11, 2007 01:13 PM

contd...
why blame sachin entirely?
also Prem is too harsh on Kumble (Round the wicket is just not his line.. is it Greg's wish for him to have bowled around?).. VVS .. don't know why he has to keep proving himself to the selectors and the viewers despite all his class, poor chap.
Dhoni.. he did his best within his limitations IMHO.

if we lost the series, people to be blamed are:
Selectors: Why was Munaf not replaced?
Dravid: The captain and not the player
Chappel: The coach.. false strategy
Munaf: for faking his fitness
Sehwag: bulging tummy and depleting scorelines..

No doubt about sachin's talent
by satyabrata mishra on Jan 11, 2007 01:08 PM

I'd say sachin is the best batsman world has ever produced. The niche and skils that he has got, surely no one else has got it. It's not his fault due to the loss of indian cricket. Indian Team is not palying with a team spirit. Why to blame on sachin. if you want to blame really, them blame on Rahul Dravid, completely unfit for the post of capatain. he does not have real attitude to become a captain. He does not know how to choose a proper team and always swayed by others decision. I'd say Indian team is still based upon 3 batsman. Yuvraj Singh, Sachin tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. If india has a hope in the world cup, then defintely based upon the perfromance of this 3. No other single player can make the match win. Sachin is great and will always remain the great, irrespective of what others say. See the greatness that Saurav Ganguly showed after being out from the team for a long time..Talent never dies. Saurav was talented and finally showed it on the field.

Sachin :In or Out?
by vijay shekar on Jan 11, 2007 01:05 PM  | Hide replies

It has become a past time for all of us to bash someone one day and to make him a GOD another day.The fault lies in our foolishness and not elsewhere.Australians are more balanced in their views and keep a good perspective about things.Sachin has to be a genius or else Sir Don bradman should have been blind or naive to comment on his batting. So also with Warne or Steve waugh.Every sportsperson has a shelf life and so does Sachin.Lets accept it.our memories are short and hence we have selectively forgotten all those years of watching tv just for the sake of one man called sachin tendulkar.Today he is tired, jaded and feeling the pinch. We cannot stand the sight of a limping genius. Our frustrations are also the frustrations of sachin.Give him some time.THE WORLD CUP WILL BE THE ULTIMATE PLATFORM AND THEN YOU WILL SEE WHAT STUFF HE IS MADE OF?Hang on Sachin. We are with you.ALWAYS AS EVER.GOOD LUCK.

We are always losing.....................
by praveen ab on Jan 11, 2007 01:01 PM

We always talk about greats and do analysis after indias loss abroad. It keeps happening. In india team always does well and get everyones appreciation. See Australia its wonderful to watch their games and they don't have gods or grats..They are doing thir job.. If some one does not play well kick him out of the team whether it is Gangauly or so called great tendulkar. Let the young blood get a chance..anyway we are losing all the time...so atleast these youngsters will get a chance to prove themselves..and obviously let them also get some advertisemsnts and money..

What about wrong umpiring decisions?
by Manohar R on Jan 11, 2007 12:57 PM

We are talking about the bad form of the players which is true for most of them. What about bad umpiring and wrong decisions given against India? In the recent south african series, the number of wrong decisions given against India were much more than those against SA?
Why should the players be blamed for wrong decisions against them?

Unfair to sachin
by Vijeth CM on Jan 11, 2007 12:57 PM

I'm a bigger fan of Brian Lara, but it is unfair to say sachin is not great. and very harsh to blame sachin entirely for the defeat. Dravid and Chappel should own up for the defeat .. for selecting Munaf. A bhajji would have done very well to exploit that rough.

sachin will be back
by nitasha jain on Jan 11, 2007 12:47 PM

If you expect a player to play with the same consistency, technique and maintain the same average in an 18 year career, you are a lunatic. Most of us cannot stick to a srtupid deskj ob for so long , let alone a demanding physical sport. Time may have slowed Sachin down a bit, but he is still one of the best runners, fielders, catchers, and absolutely the best batsman in the team and in contemporary cricket. He may be down on luck and out of form, but there is no way he can be dropped since there is no one to replace him. People like you who once hastily compared Sehwag to Sachin (who by the way has shown 0 consistency, application and technique in a 5 year career) have no comprehension of the brilliance of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, or the effect he has psychologically on his team, the opposition and his fans. There is nothing in his records that imply that he should retire...his statistics are still up there with the best, and he is going to make a comeback and build on those. We are behind him..GO SACHIN..and bring the world cup to India!

Unfair to Sachin
by rohan patil on Jan 11, 2007 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest batsman India has produced. We should be proud to have a great batsmen like Sachin. Even the greatest of the batsmen Sir. Don Bradman has appreciated Sachin and not Brian Lara or Ricky Ponting, not even Sobers, Gavaskars, Borders, etc.

This itself proves when the greatest rates Sachin as the best. We are nowhere near the above greats and are only spectators who always think like Bollywood movies ( A Hero should beat all the 100 villians single handedly)

We always forget Cricket is a Team game and all 11 players need tocontribute for the win. Even todays best team - Australia do not bank solely on Ricky Ponting only. they have other match winners as well.

While looking at sachin our expectations are so high that we always expect a century from him in the game which is impossible. As per the records he is the only consistent player than his contemporaries. Presently he may be out of form but a 10% Sachin is more than any other 100% player in India at present.

Let us all support our icons and motivate them to do better. Let us not have the crab mentality wherein we always try to pull every person down.

SACHIN YOU ARE THE GREATEST BATSMEN OF THIS ERA. PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR GOOD WORK WE ALL ARE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU.

SACHIN YOU CAN BRING THE WORLD CUP TO INDIA THIS YEAR. ALL THE VERY BEST

hihi
Good joke(
Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest batsman India has produced.)
end of they numbers are only matter for indians, bcoz we love maths.he is living on his old glory.its better if he retires himself, instead we have to drop him.the comment was made in 1990s not now.if bradman were alive,he would have changed his mind.think about present, dream about future, last but not the least forget about past.

Though i dont fully agree with bradman's acceptance of sachin theory, it is nowhere correct to say sachin is not great.. and yes he might have crawled that day.. but why not somebody else take up that blame? i personally do feel sachin needs some rest but to blame the entire defeat on him is ... too harsh

Sachin Tendulkar is a great player of his time. He doesn%u2019t have equals in his time. He is a man of his instincts. He knows very well when to say good be to his career. He will never hang around once he feels he is not capable to face the pressure of playing crcket. As a cricketer we can never ignore his contributions to Indian cricket. He is a gentleman cricketer so he always prefer to answer his critics with is own style %u2013his bat. So we can wait for his reply. we will get it sooner or later.

I did believe that Sachin was not a match winner, but u just find out the under what team composition has Sachin scored most of his ODI runs and see for urself why sachin could not win matches single handedly..
During his younger days I remember team consisted of visitors like Jacob martin, Khurasia,Rathore,Gandhi and many other who are already forgotten by many. India at that time did not have a middle order which could stand with Sachin in the middle.
Can u justiy the test lost at Chennai v/s pakistan and then conclude why Sachin could not help India win more matches then he should have had. This is just one of the occasions to name of the many.
We still believe that he still has to serve Indian cricket and please we should not compare entire Austalian team to an individual. In their case all eleven contribute to the team.

Hi dinesh
I think you are predetermined to comment on sachin.Remember that sachin has not scored a century in his younger days. His first century came after 80 ODI's and by that time Dravid,Azaruddin, kambli are already there. The players you have listed have played very few matches for India not even 10% of matches played by Sachin. Hence ur argument is totally unreasonable and does not have support of facts but your pure imagination. Pls come out of that.

Further,if sachin is not the greatest batsmen of India. For which country did he score 25,000 international runs and 70 centuries, Australia or pakistan. Sachin could not win matches because he did not get good support from lower order. Further, india always suffered defeats on account of poor bowling. Thank god sachin is not an alrounder otherwise you would have blamed him for not taking wickets too.
