Congrats Mumbai but Well done Bengal and Ranadeb for coming so far
by sanjoy dalal on Feb 05, 2007 05:37 PM

Congrats Mumbai but Well done Bengal and Ranadeb for coming so far. Bengal proved this season (and also last) that without big names in the fold, you can still play and fight and also move forward. Though, Mumbai beat Bengal in Final but with current 4 Indian players still they had to fight and lets not forget that only a month back, same Mumbai team without the 4 Test players could gather only 372 Runs against Bengal's 578 runs.

My heart bleeds for RR Bose. In absence of last year's hero SS Paul, he had to shoulder the entire responsibility on his own. Even though, he was thought not to be good enough for being picked up amongst Top 30 players (he is the highest wicket-taker this season and amongst all main-line Bowlers, his Eco rate and Avg rate is best!!!!!), he still chugged along by claiming 19 wickets in Ranji SF and Final. We expected Saurav to do more for this team and Ranadeb, especially when it meant most.

Also like to congratulate Manoj for this exceptional season (not sure whether people are aware that his Avg in this season is 99.50% with 796 runs!!!), hopefully this ex U-19 Indian player will don the Indian cap soon.

Now, lets also hope Bengal will get Openers who can and also will like to stay in the crease at least for 1 hour !!!! and a Spinner who will take wickets (SS Lahiri can do something else!!!) and an All-rounder who can bat and bowl (need time to think an alternative career plan for LR Shukla!!!!).

It was a great show by both the teams, in the end the one who kept their nerves won.

Some good performances from players specially Jaffer, Sachin, Bose, Ganguly, Tiwari and in the end Zaheer Khan.

i was expecting Bengal to do some miracle.spacially the way manoj tiwari and sourav was batting, added some oxygen to my thoughts.unfortunately i had forgotten we had tailender without having any tail.ACTUALLY THE PRESENCE OF SACHIN,AGARKAR,POWAR,ZAHEER,JAFAR MADE THE DIFFERENCE.
moreover i would like to appreciate manoj tiwari, ranadev bose, deep dasgupta and sourav ganguly for their bravery efforts.
WE R WITH U "NEVER MIND,WE WILL WIN NEXT TIME BRO ."
