indian team's attitude
by harsh mohan on Jan 02, 2008 06:56 AM

I do not know if RAJPUT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT yUVI OR NOT bUT LOOKING AT YUVI'S BODY LANGUAGE IN THE TESTS i MUST SAY THERE IS SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED. OZ IS TAKING SINGLES RIGHT UNDER YUVIS NOSE HE DOES NOT SHOW ANY EXCITEMENT AT THE FALL OF THE WICKET, NO CLAPPING/ENCOURAGEMENT BETWEEN BALLS AND MOREOVER NO DISSAPPIONTMENT SHOWN WHEN A FOUR WAS GIVEN FOR HIM TOUCHING THE ROPE.
I HAVE BEEN A FOLLOWER OF CRICKET FOR LONG AND I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE THE ONE WHO HAS SEEN YUVI RIGHT FROM HIS VERY YOUNG DAYS AND I KNOW HOW GOOD HE CAN BE.
YUVI NEEDS TO BE AT HIS BEST FOR HIS AND OUR(INDIAN'S ) SAKE

Rajput got scared !!

Australian Media will not make stories on its own. Rajput probably said it in haste and when calls started pouring in from selectors he might have got chickened out.

Australian media will not make up stories ?
Just goes to show that you dont know anything.
It's one of the most biased media in the world, especially when it comes to sports.
Demoralizing touring teams with fake reports and controversies is part and parcel of Australia's strategy.
Dont post comments with your half assed knowledge.Atleast try to know what you are talking about before you spew your rubbish.

Plain language problem
by Edwin Anslem DSouza on Jan 01, 2008 09:38 AM  | Hide replies

Arrange "english" classes for Rajput, the Indian contingent who are currently not playing may conduct "hindi" classes for the Australian media.
The team did better without a coach, it will do much better without a manager as well.
The team will still do better without a selection committee if a points/grade system could be used to select the team where a quantitatve approach could be followed, a plain merit system like the one at CBSE/ICSE/ CAT entrance.

And you need somebody to teach you to think beyond generalisations and stereotypes, the staple of the common intellect.

Why?
by Debo Mcnair on Jan 01, 2008 08:42 AM

Why is it that every damn issue concerning India be it Politics, Cricket or Movies turn into a free-4-all slanging match between North and South? Where is line dividing North and South India? To a punjabi Mumbai is south and to a mallu Mumbai is north.

There are only a very few in the southernmost 4 states that are against Hindi and North. When I was growing up in back in the 80s in Kerala I did not even know about this divide. All the mallu reality song shows feature malayalam, hindi and tamil songs. We are as Indian as we are mallu.

I am thinking most of the posters here are actualy pakis trying to create a rift in India and feel good about that. To them all I say is we may appear to hate each other but our dislike for pakis is general is very real and unsurpassed by anything else.

How can a team manager go against players midst a over sea series in public. Height of unprofessionalism. If he has any observance angainst any player there is a way he can convey to BCCI, but not throgh press.

Its a mind game...thats is what it is. It was played in order to keep Yuvraj in the team so that they have atleast one wicket in their pocket even before the match starts. We have seen how he plays(if you can call it playing) Hogg. With this noise they have made sure that Yuvraj is kept in the team even though he looks fit to be dropped. Come to think about it the one real major problem which India has as of now is YUVRAJ SINGH and his FORM. If he had never been in the scheme of things we would have had 2 specialist openers opening the innings. It is only and only to accommodate him that the entire batting order has been shuffled. Why else shud Dravid open at all??? The Aussies sensed that this Yuvraj was going to dropped 9.9 times out of 10, but coming out with this news they have made sure that he plays. Well, the only thing that one can say is there are no such things like "good headache". There are only HEADACHES.

Is Ganguly sick
by D S on Jan 01, 2008 05:39 AM  | Hide replies

MCG did not produce enough pace.
Is Ganguly sick or he is sick of selection practices and want others to face the high pace before he comes back in the last match to show his real worth against the pace.
Vermin style copying
During T20 in SA, the management decided that anyone from team would be spokesperson and thus Pathan, Utthapa spoke for the team instead of the Captain.
Kumble is doing the same with Zaheer who says they are fully behind Dravid.
Can these guys do better than vermin style copying to make India recover?
Or is the mindset, if this guys from certain backward place can do it, I from superior place can do better. Seems like this how Cricket selection is done?

How many times he would slap u with his bat last year against south africa track was bouncy and he scored highest. Why people like u always after him? u simply spread hatred against him even if he plays well. It seems u ve personal grudges what ever may be the reason pz don,t bring personal things in public forum

Blockers are chokers
by D S on Jan 01, 2008 04:29 AM  | Hide replies

If we have batsmen like Dravid, laxman, Tendulkar, Jaffer out there just to block ball then we will not do good. It only gives AUZ bowlers the confidence that they are un-wackable and they can drop catches of these losers or not appeal LBWS. Placing Sehwag will not hide the prejudiced, wicked/brute and biased selection practices that have weakened the team over years.
Rohit was kept out in England, no chance given to Rohit, Raina and other players when AUZ and Pakistan visited India. OPEN AND BLATANT BIAS. The current Indian selection has been certainly and undoubtedly very biased. They never gave chance to right talent and instead play hate politics. Some chief selectors were jealous when India won T20 that they name the new captain and tried to play Dhoni against Yuvi by making him the Captain(they tried during T20 and that tactics failed)!!!
This is not a software company where donkey can be hired among donkeys by sorcery and kept for an year or more...
We can keep on blaming Dhoni and Yuvi (as I have seen for few days) who prefer to hit or get out because score matters in the end, not blocking/chocking.

Agree with on Blocking and choking. But on the other hand the batsman should not throw bat at ball just becuse its difficult in the middle. So either hit out or get out. Instead Some one need to take resposibility to staying there and scoring runs for the team.

even captain admits the selection blunder.
by uncle shame on Dec 31, 2007 09:29 PM | Hide replies

when team of 16 is selected for the tour with 2 out of form openers like sehwag n karthik. the capt himself is afraid of taking either of them in the first test, n forcing middle order bat like dravid to open; implying that the 2 openers were selected thru some pressure n not for cricketing reasons.
the team is jeopardised by these 2 on whom capt has no faith.

Its not the entire fault of selectors and Kumble has to blame him self. Both these guys got selected with strong backing of Kumble.

Yes, Kumble has just awarded the Indian team with one of the biggest defeats in the history of Indian Cricket. He came close to beating his friend Rahul Darvid as captain. Under Darvid, India recieved the biggest ever defeat of 342 runns against Australia in Nagpur (2004-2005) and then later Darvid accomplished another defeat of 341 runs against Pakistan in Karachi (2005-2006). A defeat by 337 runs explains the planning, preparation, and strategy of the Indian Captain. Kumble is the best bowler India has at the moment but he is failing as a captain. Bring back the young brigade and Dhoni as captain!

When ganguly was hiding to face Aussies in a green pitch Dravid was bound to captain india and he was not ready for the job.He did a good job.But here nothing wrong.May be players except Sachin nobody trying to dominate Aus bowlers.Hope this will change with some thunders from players like dhoni.

Mr.Sravan, why was the pitch made green when we were playing the Aussies in India? Will you even expect a square turner in Perth? Every country creates pitch that suit its strength and when we do it, our own people make a big issue out of it.
We the Indian public hasn't forgotten the "ulterior" motives in makinga green top in Nagpur, that too against Glen McGrath and co. The people (read, Shashank Manohar) involved in it are the "Jaichands" of modern India and they are now running BCCI...what a shame!

ind shud go with 5 bolrs.
by . on Dec 31, 2007 09:21 PM

if 7 batsman cant cross 150 n 200 in both the innings, it is no use taking seventh batsman n particularly when the same r like useless yuv n dhoni. if 7 batsman can score 150 then six bat wud nt score less than 140(!).

look at the ausi bolrs generating good pace. as v dont hv genuine pacer, v need one of those ishant or pankaj as fifth bolr merely for using their height to generate bounce from the wkt that may trouble ausi. both having ht. of 6 and half ft.
