"We have always said that playing against England in the Ashes is where it's at, but I also think now playing against India is one of our greatest challenges as far as Test match cricket goes." So says Brett Lee. Did it look like one after the first test?

There is lot of 'Just kidding', misinformation as they say. Lee is a good guy as a person but is being utilized to soften Indians.
ICC and their chamcha BCCI even planted Greg Chappel as the coach to screw the heads of Indian players. Hope the new coach and his mental toughness Aide does not repeat it.

what planning..
by arun premraj on Dec 30, 2007 08:42 PM  | Hide replies

does dravid in his present form even need a plan to get out... infact the longer he stays at the crease now.. the more beneficial it is for the opposition.....cause he'll make the rr zero...

Aussie Guts
by VT on Dec 30, 2007 08:41 PM

Look at Aussie Guts. They gave us 2 days to score 500 runs in 180 over with runrate of 2.80 per over. Still we couldn't win. If we were in their position, we would have batted till end of 4 th day and would have set target of 500 runs in 90 overs. Obviously , match would have ended in draw leaving opposition not to try such high target in lesser overs. Hats off Aussies...........!!!!!!!!!!

dhoni and yuv are useless.
by uncle shame on Dec 30, 2007 08:39 PM  | Hide replies

yuv has not made single half century in the last 9 innings 'overseas'. dont quote his 169 score against weakest pak on flatest ind pitches.

no doubt abt dhoni's weakness in ausi pitches as well. dhoni n yuv r useless in ausi.

yes. sehwag is real gutsy player compared with those 2 useless yuv n dhoni. he was the one gutsy to say yes to opening the innings when all the stalwarts refused to open in tests, n scored many centuries in overseas tour.
unfortunately, he is hardly in form even in domestic matches.

dravid is always made a scapegoat.
i recall sahara cup series in toronto against pak way back 1997(?) dominated by mohanti. that time also sachin was spared from opening the innings in odi coz ball was moving too much.
our heros the one who hide their face in the sand on the slightest chance of the storm.

Amazingly they kept ROhit, Raina and others out when AUZ and Pakis visited, don't give chance to anyone so people don't know their options.

rightly said. but if stats is shown to ppl, they will be amazed. i was surprised to know abt yuv's overseas record of 9 innings without half century. similar the case of dhoni.
its the selectors' blunder to pick the team on the basis of performances against weakest pak team on flattest pitches.
n v hv tendency to go for the big names of ckt who r made so-called big by their PR agents.

ausi n ponting r talking rubbish.
by uncle shame on Dec 30, 2007 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

ponting said that ausi had 4-5 different plans for ind batsman, video analysis of them in their laptop, etc.
this is all rubbish, as now they have been victorious against ind in ausi pitches.
if ponting had to boast such things, then he shud b asked y those plans were not successful when they played ind in ind and in t20 format.
it seems that after victory, capt can say any damn things.

Are you saying Aussies dont plan to a batsman, then your kidding. Ask Jayawardene / Greame Smith / Kallis / or Gayle and the Aussues know the exact weakness of almost all the great batsman. They have theeir process to identify that and no other team can match that. Look at their winning records, hence I repeat yu dont need a captain for Australia, just the process is good enough, which is discussed with the bowlers before the match.

every team plans. even ausis r expert in that. no doubt abt it. indians also plan but once on the field, they forget all their plans n bowls wayward boling n starts fishing outside off stump while batting.
but they were successful in implementing their plan, as ind was playing in ausi. the same ausis' plans failed when they played ind in ind in t20 format. the plans did not succeed.
only difference, now they r playing at home with advantage. n they r successful in implementing plans.

Not rubbish at all. take a look at this.
Jaffer --ndismissed in both innings identically-- his weakness
Dravid -- not a single delivery on his legs to get off the mark -- his strong area to score

Tendulkar -- Not allowed to free his arms short rising deliveries outside the off stump.Dismissed 6 times in the last 7 test matches identically- his lack of flexibility in recent times
Yuvraj Singh -- Potential snicker from the word go -- greatest weakness

Laxman -- not a single ball on his legs- poor fellow tries to play off side deliveries to the leg side.

Ganguly -- always short of good length deliveries-- will definitelt glove one the leg side.
Dhoni -- weakness to the incoming delivery both innings.

The rest is not worth saying.

Hence the bowling is always to a plan and not rubbish for sure.

Auz can act easy with Indian's for sake of ICC and BCCI control
by D S on Dec 30, 2007 08:38 PM

Whatever happens to BCCI or ICC. We should not stop the march of Indians to be a 'LAND OF TRULY FREE". March to FULL and TRUE FREEDOM:

We don't need this fake democracy called 'Parliamentary democracy', but direct election of PM and CM by PEOPLE!!! The MLA's representative will be in Lok-sabha and NO need for powerless Rajya-Sabha.

NDIANS PLAYED A THIRD RUNG PAKISTANI ATTACK ON READY-TO-GROW-CORN WICKETS..
HAD THEY PLAYED AGAINST THEIR SECOND RUNG ATTACK THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN MURDERED...
NOW THEY ARE PLAYING THE FIRST RUNG AUSSIE BOWLING, HOW CAN YOU EXPECT THEM TO MAKE IT INTO THE FOURTH DAY..

PS: PONTING'S DECLARATION (GET 500 IN TWO AND A HALF DAYS)SHOULD SERVE AS AN EYE OPENER TO THE OLD KUMBLE. HE GIVES TEAMS 400 TO SCORE IN 40 OVERS!!

Ponting in his place did the right thing. And, Kumble in his place did what was best at that moment. With India's poor fielding and injury prone bowling attack, Kumble could not have attacked as much. And, mind you Pak were batting well. Ponting was confident that Indian's would try and get the runs in their own way, and end up nowhere.

Aussie men and our schoolboys
by Jaganniwas Iyer on Dec 30, 2007 08:33 PM  | Hide replies

While the professional and ruthless Aussies are busy plotting Indian team's downfall in the current test series (it looks like it's going to be 4-0 after all; you don't need nuclear science to fathom which side is going to win these Tests), the hyped Indian 'stars' are busy plotting which discotheque to barge into next and which commercial product to endorse and oh yes, which Bollywood beauty to chase. The BCCI is plotting out the next year's cricketing tamasha events to rake in the moolah, and Pawar is plotting on how to save his own political fiefdom. The media is ploting whom next to put on a false pedestal and hero-worhsip him (only to be dumped when the next hype-boy arrives). Time India gave up this useless game, a waste of precious time for a nation that is forging ahead and has global aspirations. We have hero-worshipped these zeroes for far too long. They can sing, dance and act, but don't expect these schoolboys to stand up to the rigours of real athleticism. Leave that to the men.

Jaganniwas, You are right, our news channels have only three subjects " Bollywood / Cricket / Interviews / Breaking news ( which is always a bad news ). So by giving up this game, the news channels will have more time and less news. More over what will happen to the 6000 crores turnover and the sponsorships. Remember cricket is now an industry and no longer a game.

what abt bolrs for second test.
by uncle shame on Dec 30, 2007 08:31 PM  | Hide replies

v need one genuine fast bolr. if not available, v hv to take one of those young guys like ishant or pankaj who r having 6 and half ft height.
either of them can b tried. they hv the potential to generate good bounce on ausi pitches using their height.
they can b 'accomodated' by dropping any of the useless batsmen like yuv and dhoni.

if 7 batsman cant score 150 runs then its no use of seventh batsman. v need to take 20 wkts also. n ishant/pankaj may b tried as 5th bolr.
