because dada was drooped he has discovered the test player in him.so,you must give credit to greg chappel for creating a competition for places in the indian team.bwcause of him, even the great players(sachin, dravid, souran) are on their toes.this was needed to take our team to the next level.our bench strength has also improved because of the chances given to the youngsters during the chappel era.all players have taken their performances to a higher level.

Biswa, what is the contribution of Greg Chappel as a coach? First round exit from World Cup, humiliating experience in South Africa, and overall spirit of Indian cricket destroyed systematicaly. Indians like you are born slaves towards the white. Shame on you.

Greg "Chapal" ka to India ko harane hi aaya tha because Australia has only fear from India. And Jab Ganguly ko team se nikala gaya tab he is playing well. That was totaly a private matter not proffesional. Chapal ka to kala muh karo aur bhaga do. Team without Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar is not a team because no youngster show that much caliber. They started their career with a bang and never look back. If youngster want to take place of any of the three they have to show that they have caliber and consistency.

shame on you,fu...er.the contribution of greg chappel was consecutive one day wins chasing which is a world record.and many more series wins.as a coach his success rate was only second to wright.and you cannot blame the coach for the world cup defeat as it was the players who did not perform.the players should have the attitude to face criticsm.they should not take their places for granted.it is all part of a professional set up so that nobody relaxes.and when there is a healthy competition among the players it is bettes for the team.tension in the dressing room should be used to better ones performances.and the better ones will perform when put under pressure(like ganguly).and those who cant cope should be ready to face the axe.

It was basically the format that hit us and the pakistanis hard in the world cup.
The initial round with weaker sides were very much like knock outs. It was a flawed format.
That same thing had almost repeated when ZIM beat AUS, too. Luckily, they beat ENG.

It was not Chappell that played for India in the world cup. Its our players.
Chappell believed in youngsters and always pushed for them. Did not the youngsters win the T20 for us?
Basically, things just did not work between our superstars and himself. He did not go to the same school of man management as Joh Wright did.
No matter who the coach was at the time Ganguly was dropped. His time was surely up.
He was going to go. Since, it was Chappell, who cared less about any of our superstarts, it happened quick.

The youngster does not have caliber to play a long innings thats why they fail in worldcup. In 20-20 they have to play for 30 odd balls and they are gud at that.
If this is the case why those younster and not able to defeat Australia in the home series after 20-20 world cup.
And wat about coach, coach decide who will play and at what number. Before Chappel came Irfan was gud in his bowling but now u all know that.
Also BCCi has give him power to act like Hitler in team.

You are right. But, did you ever think that Parthiv will knock the door again? After we saw his 'close to pathtic' keeping and average batting?
So, I would not be surprised if Kartik gets back into the team again. Is not competetion good for the team and for 'us'? Its the same with the Aussies, right? Its hard believe that there is no place for Haddin when he is in his prime form.

hi bro,

No offence against karthik, but his keeping was way below standards in the 3rd test against pakinstan in bangalore.

Dhoni is the right person for keeping, and parthiv or manoj tiwari (bengali guy who left bangladesh tour with injury) can take place of karthik.

Parthiv is back on doors because he hits 8 consecutive hundreds in domestic cricket with best of the wicket keeping skills..if you ask 17 years old to keep and baat in front of Breet Lee with all are Genius out that not gud.
I want to remember you that he is the only person to which England team hail his hands..because he was the person who stodd between the defeat of India and win of england in england

did the rediff reporter even see the match, i doubt it. The Pakistani batsmen have survived thanks to some extremely lousy decisions by the umpires combined with some great luck.

A couple of clear caught behinds were not given, plumb lbws turned down, for all practical purposes India has won.

Umpires also play a vita role in the result of the match. If the umpire gives a wrong decision like lbw or catch, the third umpire must be watching & inform the umpire so that the the correct decision is given even if it is a bit late. why is the third umpire there?

What a waste of time
by Giri on Dec 10, 2007 11:06 PM  | Hide replies

Hello everyone,
If Australia makes the test cricket interesting India does it otherwise. I'm not too sure whether we're short of one bowler. We lack in fire power even though we're playing with only 4 bowlers.
It always strange in India. If a bowler(Ishant Sharma) is given a chance he should bowl very discipline line but here it happens otherwise. I agree, he's new to international has to go a long way but you cant afford to bowl hell lot of no-balls. That's not the way to do bowl even if it's your first match.
As a team, we lack in strategy and plan. Kumble doesn't know what he wants from his bowlers. Fielding too was pathetic. We failed to creat pressure in the field and missed a few half chances. If we lack in planning and strategy I think it's going to be very difficult in Oz. Unlike Pakistanis, they like scoring at least 4 runs/over. So it's better If we learn our lessons right now.

The other side, Pakistan batting was too pathetic. They want to get through the sessions rather than playing good cricket.
Test cricket at its worse!!!

india should have picked vrv in place of harbhajan.the wicket is keeping low and a bowler with pace and height could have exploited the conditions better.also our bowlers were not accurate enough.so many balls kept low,but because they were not directed at the stumps the batsmen were able to survive.

Why do we still have this crappy form of cricket when there is One day and 20-20. I find it funny when people say "its a true test of character" . Thats complete bull plop ! Agreed thats its challenging to play 5 full days in a row, but you bloody sweat for 5 whole days and in the end no result. Everybody just shakes hands, pats each others bums and there is no winner (Only losers who watched the match). What a royal waste of time. There should be a bowlout at the end of a drawn test match to decide the winner.

Not everybody like everything. You don't really have to spend your entire 5 days watching test cricket. You can watch anything else on TV. I truely enjoy watching test cricket and I'll always enjoy it. I'm sure I'm not a one off example, a lot of people I know actually love it and Test Cricket has a charm of its own. I do not like Saas Bahu serials but that doesn't mean they should take them off air or stop producing them just for me. I'm sure a lot of people like it, but I would regard it to be a waste of my time and so would avoid watching it.

First Test wicket in
by Ashwin Shankar on Dec 10, 2007 10:22 PM  | Hide replies

Thats actually not a good thing but Rediff made it sound like an achievement. To get your first test wicket after bowling as many overs is not a good sign. Ishant Sharma needs to improve a lot before he plays his next game for India. While he bowled the odd good ball, its simply not good enough for Test Cricket where its okay to bowl the odd bad ball. He's got to make the batsmen play at more balls and start hitting the right lenghts. He's got decent pace but his line and length is poor. He's just 19 and is inexperienced even in first class cricket. I think he's been thrown into the deep end of things too soon and definately needs Srinath to work on his action and final delivery stride. Hopefully he'll be really good for India in the long run.
