To: the people who say wrong/angry with Dravids decision
by Chethil Sudheesh on Aug 15, 2007 09:05 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Friends,
Before posting these kind of harsh word against Dravid, please think about yorself. How much of you are doing excellent work in your field. Dravid is payed by BCCI. What about you?. I think you are also paid by someone/some company. Are you putting a great effort?. But I could not see any such effort/thinking by 80% of the Indians. They are interested in blaming others. Forgeting their mistakes. I think that is there in our genes. Keep on talking about others and their mistakes. Whether Dravid is done a wrong thing or not, you and I cannot judge. Because Dravis know Indian team much much better than you and me. And Dravid is not a idiot. But I feel that whoever posting harsh word against Dravid is surely idiots. and they don't know how to respect others. You have the same reponsibily Dravid has. You are also representing a county/region. So please stop this nonsence. without any facts. If you come up with a solid facts I am ready to accept. And a game is always a game. But, the work you are doing is not a game. It is a seroius matter.

Sudheesh

It appears that many of the people posting here love to hate Dravid! One should understand that Dravid took what was the right decision considering all factors. He has been a cool captain learning from his mistakes and in this series inspiring everyone to perform in the best way. All this debating will continue till the ODIs and if India wins that series, the debating will stop. Dravid could not have said it better when he said that sitting in a drawing room and commenting is different from being in the field.

facts!!!
by Krishna on Aug 15, 2007 07:09 AM  | Hide replies

if england could batted in third innings..i they would have scored minimum 400 ..

so there is no point barking againest for not imposing follow on!!!
this could have been questioned to some extent if england fails within 303..in 4 th innings to ask for the need of indian 2nd batting... now rahul team decision is better...he suspected that it is difficult make england all out within 303..and it is they were 369/6 at the day end.
Now Rahul's slow batting!!! now let us take out rahul 12 run and 20 overs that he consumed..in that case engalnd ws suppose to chase 488 in 110 20 overs....here also rahul stands better...
I do not know why people act too much on road not taken..it may be 30% correct to impose follown and it is equally correct in otherway and remaining 40% is purely depends on other factors.... people should comment for 30% mistake and compliment for 30% decision..and appreciate for overall series win...but so unfair to blame him like as if though he has done 1000% mistake...infact it was team decision... and also there are some group of people who are spreading unhealthy climate against Rahul... ...

Very good analysis with numbers. However you are discounted one fact. India batted through overcast conditions suitable to swing and thus lost several wickets. Had we imposed follow on England could be in that position and could certainly have been bowled out under 300. I know I sound like a perfect 6th day captain. Just countering you on the facts you presented with facts.

We should at least take consolation from the fact that we won the series. India always screws up on such situations when leading a series. This time was no different. Give some credit to the poor captain. He had the weight of 30 years history over him.

Time to sack Dravid
by Ricky Thukral on Aug 15, 2007 06:41 AM

Well well well last test match Dravid ended the ongoing debate of Dravid vs Ganguly.
We looked at how both play when they are under pressure and bowl is moving.
The result is out%u2026Ganguly can score and Dravid can Stand there for 2 hrs(no wonder he is called a wall).
Nasser hussain supported Dravid decision during the lunch break against david loyd, mike Atherton and ian botham.Hussain said Dravid cant afford to loose and he wants to get rid of any hopes England might have. But they way Dravid batted stunned Nasser hussain%u2026wall is not moving Ian botham said%u2026y you need to play for a draw when you can win.

So all my dear Dravid and Ganuly fans, I guess we can end the debate now as we have seen how the two react in same situation with same bowlers.

Ganguly can score and Dravid can stand.

What kind of messege is Dravid sending to the team?

Dravid is the captain and he needs to lead from the front and by example showing some intent.Dravid is the worst captain India can ever have.He took of the shine of the great performance of the indian team.I feel for the team and how frustrating is it to see a captain bat like that when the team is leading by 350 .Ganguly and Sachin got standing ovation when they came to bat and when they got out.Dravid got cheers when he scored his every single run as he was embarrassing. Crowd was happy when he got out and Dravid was relieved its over.

What kind of messege is Dravid sending to the team, If India doesn%u2019t win this test match Dravid should be blamed for the way he batted.I can understand his decision not to enforce follow on but the way he batted looked like he was batting for England to save the match.

stupid Gopal Krishna, come to Bangalore and how many non kannadigas are there. and go neighbouring states and count how many other state people are there. you will find karnataka has given food and shelter to many non kannadigas. is it possible if kannadigas are short temper people.
we kannadigas are not hesitate to give other states share of water but if neiegbouring state asks karnataka share of water just because they are one of the parties which is supporting at central goverment then each kannadigas will fight for justice.
and also we kannadigas are not illegally occupied any district

Kannada is the language and Kannadiga is a person whose mother tongue is Kannada. Kannadas would really be a non-word word.

Anyway I wonder if the writer realizes that Rahul Dravid is also a Kannad(iga) :)

WHAT NONSENSE? Just because Dravid plays for Karnataka doesn't mean he is Kannad. He cannot speak Kannad and when it was time for him to marry, he married a girl from Nagpur. You know why? Because he is a Marathi at heart, always. He cannot be a Kannad despite what you think!!!

Every sportsman when they are fighting for their country will become sometimes emotional. It is part and parcel of the game.

Kannads have very short temper and they lose cool over the most trivial of issues, sometimes even over non-issues. Some time ago, one of their actors died of natural causes and they went rioting, burning buses and causing havoc in Bangalore. A neighbouring state asks for its share of water water and these guys start shutting down theatres and cable channels. Another neighbouring state asks for the return of a illegally occupied district and these guys get into war mode! The list is endless...
