I have never bothered to pen my comments about India's performance in cricket. But today I decided different. The itch was too hard to resist. I keep seeing these comments about changing the batting order, advises about who should be selected, comparisons on captains, and frankly I found its all a load of bull****! First and foremost, most of us are not in any way competent enough to criticize about cricket and still we do! Well thats the only sport that we can be proud of., so cant blame many who do so. But I believe the fault lies in us! Not in the team. It is us who are destroying Indian cricket. It is the undue importance to cricket and cricketers that has become the prime reason for the underperformance of the players. The reason why I say this is because the attentions we provide to cricket create highlighting of the players by the media. And the phenomenal endorsements they receive for their patchy performances. Sports is one area where personal motivation is very important for a good performance. This motivation is absolutely lost when a player who is most often coming from economically backward communities to continue performing when he has made his million in a few flashy performances. And even if after that he does not perform the whole Indian machinery of cricket takes care of him after that. He if has lost his position in the team, he is most often absorbed by multinational companies in the country to play for them and is paid huge salaries. As such a constant source of income is guaranteed for long period of time with little pressure of quality competition he settles down to meritocracy. And this I think is becoming the core issue of not finding motivated cricketers to play for our country and also retaining the motivation f those who make it to the team. These are issues we need to sort out and I think by doing so one can find that the whole level of pushing the talent that we have in our country to very high level.
I wonder if the Captain & Coach are plain stupid ! The wicket at Ahmd has always been slow and in such a situation , 4 seamers were picked up ! Irfan , on his abilities should bat at No 6 or No 7 and at No 3 . He is not a batsman of that calibre ! Why are the coach & captain trying to convert bowlers into forced all-rounders !!!! RPSingh - One wonders why he keeps on getting selected for nothing !!!! Mongia & Pawar are in form and they should be selected !!!! Chappell ways are good for a matured team like Australia and not for a developing & enigmatic team like India where one day they perform brilliuantly and next they are in doldrums ! They need to be level headed and plan out ! whereas because of continous chopping & changing , they are confused about their roles. It is high time Dilip Vengsarkar has a final say on playing eleven and not idiotic Chappell.
I dunno what pak ravi shastri sees in kaif and raina who r nor worth 15 - 20 runs wid the bat while stalwarts like laxman and ganguly r dropped becoz of eccentric chappel.
Is fielding is the only thing we want why not play monkeys.....as suresh raina ia already dropping catches.
Can Mr shastri recollect when was the last time kaif and raina(i know 1 ,match where raina and dhoni had a partnership ,but i also know what wicket dat was and the opposition->england) won a match with the bat.
Indin team should not be a nursery for blooding young cricketers but polished cricketers shd come frm our domestic setup..ready to take on mantle at international level.
raina and kaif hav got enogh chances to establish themselves.
Raina,kaif and RP singh are quota players from UP.....who hav made it to the team because of the clout of Mr Rajeev shukla in the BCCI.....dey r fit for domestic cricket...not international.
Ravi has hit the nail on the head. It was ridiculous on the part of Dravid to go with RP Singh and send Pathan at number 3. The idea is very simple, when you try three times and all three times you struggle and get out then you have to drop the idea. Pathan is the similar case. So when you drop pathan from number 3, he is good for bowling. Now he is bowling speeds of 73, 73 mph. Which is horrible. When he bowled it was coming at either knee high or hitting the mid pitch and sitting up to be hit. Pathan is seen as a lost case in this trophy games at least. Send home along with RP and replace with Sreesanth who at least have the attitude. Get one of the better people like Zaheer, Gambhir to replace (as agarkar is also down). So for RP,Irfan and Ajit, get zaheer, sreesanth and Gambhir. If Yuvraj is down, get Kaif to fill him. My team for Australia will be Sachin, Sehwag, because none other can face lee now. Then come Dravid, Kaif(Yuvraj), Gambhir, Dhoni. For bowling options, I would take munaf(zaheer in his place), sreesanth, powar, baji. Now comes the important position. Some one who can turn the ball and I feel Mongia will be best. Powar can bat better than pathan.

ya.. Wat happen to Shevag? and dravid will play ocasionally in One days... I guess ganguly has to back... ind needs atleats one bowler like pollack or mgrath... fileding also they have to improve

Not demeaning her, who is this donna or pronna? and look what she comments? does she know when and how a ball gets dragged onto the stumps? has she realised that certain lara is suffering from back spams which is quite evident.
Now, let us take the case of this Manjrekar 'babe'. Ever since he debuted, i do not remember one match he has won or played fast, ever even in a one day game. Except for the hype created bcoz of his being bombay boy (which was a tradition in his days) and the aura of his father, he is fit for nothing to sit in that commentary box.
Having ladies to do commentary is great, but pl bring in people who can really do it like anjum chopra, etc., I think even mandira is better.
I request all these sissy channels to concentrate on the commentators also before telecasting cricket. There is a charm to commentary. Let is not loose it like the lost focus of our Indian Team in the fact that a certain match winner called Irfan wins matches with his bowling and batting.
