At least now DD will understand the importance of quality & competition. buggers have got too used to being fed with a silver spoon.Let them fight in the market as any other operator & claim their fair share.
Too long have they been hiding under the garb of "sarkari" protection. time someone taught them a nice lesson. Wish the same could happen to AAI, BSNL, LIC, EPFO, state water supply boards, electric supply, PWD,railways & all other monopolistic state owned entities who infact think they own the state!

I wholeheatedly support the views of Mr. Mahanty. DD, being the national broadcaster must be given the rights to telecast the match live.
Its a good verdict. DD makes crores of ruppees from cricket and dont even spent 10% effort for populalirsing the game as DD is showing all the other games 24 hours a day. DD had the television rights for many indian famous matches and series and they are not even showing any of those matches. All sports channels are spending at least 1 hour a day for cricket, just because they knows that 80% of the people likes cricket. Its rediculous, that all the time they are showing only kabadi and gymnastics etc.

I feel sorry for DD.
DD is the only channel which is available free all over India and it helps the poorest of the poor to see the match live, free of charge.
I think the BCCI shd have a clause while playing their team against other Nations, stating that only DD shall be given the right to telecast the match in India on a fixed reasonable sum, which can be agreed to while finalising the itenerary.

Sorry frd.... I dont agree...DD is still the chanel for masses & you can get it in villages.. Here, even in Haryana which is supposed to be the second most developed state in INDIA,in villages we dont have TENs sports. SO you mean to say that Cricket is only for City ppl. I highly disagree on that. THere shud b a law that international cricket matches has to be shown on DD. Now, when u buy rights u shud bear that in mind. WHO told u to give huge money to buy rights. You cant snatch cricket away from masses just with a flithy excuse that my huge money is struck.. In plain , these people making it a money game & ALAS!! WHO' WHO is enjoying this.....STUPID
