ganguly future
by venugopal on Jul 21, 2006 07:40 PM

Why ganguly is droped in the tour. its not fare. he is former captain and all rounder in the team. ganguly must return in the team its my suggestion. he is very good record against srilanka and south africa.
why selectors reject ganguly in our team. Mongia is 29 year old boy. its inexperience one. In think ganguly replace mongia.

About the Indian team.

I think that the Kiran More is not liable to blame a player. In his carrier he dosen't do any thing & he is not a match winner. So how he has to any player who are a match winner.

Good line up !!
by Ritwik on Jul 21, 2006 12:30 PM

The list looks so good without that troublemaker Ganguly. Words can't explain how happy I am everytime I see the Indian line-up without that Gangulys name in the list. Hope he keeps flopping inn county cricket too, just like he's failing now !!

Tendulkar, Mongia in team
by Ravisankar S on Jul 21, 2006 08:37 AM  | Hide replies

I feel Sachin Tendulkar's inclusion is not very formal. On one hand his staure is imposing and on the other his present state of health is exposing.

Can he do justice by fielding only within the 15 yards through-out the match? Is this not imposing on Rahul Dravid to compusorily plan for one within inner circle even if not required ?

Will any other player be even considered fit if he has this sort of inability ?

Secondly, will Sachin be able to field diving to his right ? What if India loses some runs due to this? What if Sachin hurts himself again due to this ? He as well as India's dream of World Cup 2007 will go awry.

While Sachin's greatness is beyond question. He does not need to prove anything to anybody. Then why this hustle ?

Will it not be better to get Sachin to get back slower than the present rattle ?

tendulkar has taken his time. its been one extra month that he has taken to get back fully fit.

if tendulkar comes to the world cup with poor form it is not going to help india.

the thing is he has to play , but has to be given enough rest.

moreover even if tendulkar is not in the eleven but in the fifteen it is a psycological boost for the team. so he has to be there but more careful. atleast a play 3 get 1 rest policy.

Team Selection
by P R Sampath on Jul 21, 2006 08:13 AM

Its highly a ridiculuous that Dinesh Mongia has been selected. Why talk about youngsters and select player like Dinesh who is neither an aggressive batsman nor an exceelant fielder, who is lazy in the field. This clearly shows that selectors are bunch of jokers who do nothinh but succumb to politics.

the statement of kiran more is foolish. he says anil kumble is a valuable player whom they cannot afford to get injured by playing him now. he will be played in important matches only.does this mean all the selected players are not valuable and even if they are injured it does not matter?.it is a pity that kumble after doing so well with bat and ball is not selected.

Why don't the selectors make sense all the time??
by Jay Pragasam on Jul 21, 2006 05:03 AM

Quoting Mr. More.
"It was widely believed that the veteran leg spinner would be recalled to the one-day side, but More said the selectors are planning to play him only in important tournaments."

Why is this tournament not an important one and what else will be important? I guess when the tour details are finalized, they also have to classify if the tour is an important one or not. For God's sake aren't all international tournaments the same?

Also on Sachin's coming back, what is the big deal in taking a fitness test. If he is fully fit, heck get done with the fitness test. What is anyone going to lose by him taking the test. If he is fit why not take the test. If there is a thought that he might fail the test, then he is not fully fit or the fitness test is meaningless. It is not like going back to the Ranji and proving himself. He is well beyond that. But him being fully fit is a mandatory requirement for any player.

I hope he doesn't get into the same sort of situation as Zaheer Khan where he always pulled a muscle or injured a limb in the 1st or 2nd match after returning from injuries.

Good luck Sachin. Good luck More. Bad luck Kumble.

- Jay
