Why is this such big news?
by R K Iyer on Feb 24, 2006 02:10 PM

Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Wasim Jaffer, Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, S Sreesanth, R P Singh, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, VRV Singh and Piyush Chawla have been included in the team. Why is it such big news that Sourav Ganguly is not not included? I request the media to be more mature!

ganguly not picked - Foolish Decision
by A.V.ARUN on Feb 24, 2006 12:22 PM

Kiran More played with ganguly's cricket career. That old man is the man of the match in this game.Indian selectors do unjustice to the most successful captain of india. If ganguly is old man then what about tendulkar, dravid, lakshman etc... selactors think they are aged 19 ??????????????

totally foolish decision

Committed professionals
by NIRMALYA on Feb 24, 2006 12:05 PM

Thanks to Mr. Chappel for introducing some professionalism in a team, which has a history of homely environment. With that kind of a team Kapil won world cup in which team integrity & nations pride were key motivators. In course of time Indian cricket & cricketers became wealthy by corporate sponsors or by other means & accordingly performance also improved, which is evident when it reaches the final of world cup. In this case the former captain emphasized on team integrity, professionalism, but not at the cost of insecurity among players. Enough is enough .We want to get back that golden egg which Kapil once got. We want to be hardcore professionals. Let a budding cricketer struggle among 100 crore Indians, which is unimaginable in other countries like Australia. Let him get selected among top eleven and then sacked if not clicked in one or two series. Lets kill the duck that hatches golden egg. After killing if we dont get the golden egg, we will sit and see how Kangaroos jump.

India winning that matters
by Dipankar Baruah on Feb 24, 2006 10:07 AM

My heart indeed goes out for our most successful test captain for not being picked up in the squad...but positive signs for the game that has become the heartline for millions in this country....never mind even oflate India takes Australian ways, the winner's ways....Its top level...of highest proffessional priority....decisions bound to be tough...lets make it a point to go by this way....and take Indian cricket to unassailable heights....last but not the least-hats off to Greg and Rahul & Co....India winning!!!

selectors didn't made an mistake.they had done right.ganguly want to revise once the past that
how he made the politics in the selection of team.
we had lost lot of talented guys for his selfishness.
so that why there is nothing wrong if throw him from the team.

Selection of team for the 1st Test
by BHARAT SATISH TALWAR on Feb 24, 2006 09:44 AM

I do not know, why we are giving more and more imporance to the inclusion or exclusion of Gangulay. Can't this chapter be closed once for all. Otherwise, the selction of the team is quite sensible. There may be one or two controversies but this is because of a very good competition betwen the probables. Players will have to realise if they want to be in the team they will have to perform or go. It is very good to give a chance to a new leg spinner. It is a matter of history that Indian Leg spinners have always performed well against England who are shy of playing leg spinners.

Wishing the best to Team India.
