In some cases it helps the individual and some other times it hurts them.

Take the case of most brilliant batsmen in cricket. Tendulkar, Lara etc. They are physically short. They definitely have an advantage over the taller players. Because, their centre of gravity is closer to the ground makes them easier to balance their body.

It is ridiculous to read your articles. Criticism is not bad if it is worth. Could you recall your own captaincy in 1979, where because of your leadership we lost a very good orthodox Larft Arm Slow spinner for future (you ofcourse) This was only because of your defensive fielding set up that we lost badly and the result was that you even lost your captaincy. Therefore before critising without any sences one has to see his past also.
