Pitch being doctored.
by Varun Dhyani on Feb 03, 2006 12:24 PM

I am Engineer by profession and deal with Soils.I have seen the match on day 2,3 and 4th.
When Dravid gave the statement that pitch is not helping bowlers on 3rd day, he was right.

The moisture content of pitch seems to be reduced(which we call generally juice in the pitch).Next day, suddenly ball started turning in with seam working well!!
Technically it is not possible unless until you pour in more water on pitch and ramm it to certain compaction.
Loosing up of moisture content of pitch is in decreasing order as days passed by.Hence pitches should be tested for moisture content test daily to make sure pitch is not tempered.
Asif bowls faster, understood .But fast bowling dosent help in seam. Its the seam touching the right places and then pitch doing the rest is what we saw.

For your information,Indian bowlers did touch the pitch on correct seam occasions. But their ball din't turned as pitch dint did its magic.

I may be sound different. But thats what seems to me the truth.

Team India-clay feet
by C D Pereira on Feb 03, 2006 10:09 AM

We make excuses & offer explanations for failures.
2.As a national culture we lack sporting talent, instinct, nor the zeal.If only our sports was given the same attention as we give 'politics' our cricket & all other sports would flourish.
3.In sports success is based on the will to win, therefore development of supreme skills, toughness(physical & mental),sheer dedication & discipline. If any of these attributes are lacking it will show during serious competetions. If we don't mean this seriously, we better relegate our sports to the periodical farce enacted by the benefit games, such as political bosses or bollywood personalities, or underarm bowling against women's teams & the like do once in a while.
It is a pity that we engage 'foreign coaches' to train our teams who do not measure up to the demands of the game.

Lack of a genuine pace bowler hurt india big time
by wonk pistolero on Feb 03, 2006 02:52 AM

I think we should reserve our comments on this Indian side for the next half year. In all likelihood we should get a fair idea after the indian sojourn to WI. It was a known fact that India lacks a genuine fast bowler, and it has been glaringly exposed on the tour to pakistan. Under the new coach, we have played only in sub-continental conditions, and that is just half the judgemental process. No coach has ever so openly lamented the lack of a particular kind of player, as chappell has done. It just goes on to show that he probably wants to achieve greater things with this team but is handicapped due to few reasons. One feels that, its mainly the diet which determines how fast a bowler can bowl. The kind of food intake over many years determines the muscle, stamina and the bone strength, which are the mainstays of a genuine fast bowler. The other facet could be the lack of inbuilt agression from early cricketing days, which if properly oriented could translate into inspired performances . It comes as no surprise then, to find real fast bowlers across the border, who consume red meat nearly on a daily basis from their childhood, to complement their genetic aggresive traits.

I hope India loses every game...
by n krishnan on Feb 02, 2006 09:42 PM

...so that we stop being obsessed about this incapable, filthy rich, undeservingly popular team and focus (read channel our money) on other under-funded sports programs. We still have to win a Gold medal in Olympics since 1980 and there are sprinters from Kerala who still have to work in banks to pay their bills. If a well-achieved youngster like Kutraleesawarn has to quit his Sports career and go to USA to do Ph.D. in Neural Networks, we, as a nation, need to rethink how over-appreciated this bunch of cricketers are.

the tall claims of coach, and the captain that the have the best eleven playing for the country is exposed. dravid is so unsure of his captaining abilities that behind the doors he makes it a point that sourav ganguly does not come back. chappel in australia does not have a great record as coach.

the team seclection commitee has to come over board and should not be biased on particular player.

sourav as a leader should be brought back immdiately and right now he only can bring back the mental toughness required.
we have recordbreaking players but not a single match winner.

India's defeat at Karachi
by Pramod Kulkarni on Feb 02, 2006 05:38 PM

India's defeat at Karachi is really a great disappointment for all..this means not only Indians but for the spectators all over the world. Though the target was too big, every body expected an equal fight from India. Leave aside the defeat, we expected that our world class batting order will show its courage & will take India to a respectable total, i.e.@450-500. If this would have been done, there would not have been such criticism. But lack of fighting spirit, has pushed the Indian team to face this situation. Rahul only can not do the job. Other's too need to shoulder the responsibility, which they failed to do. Sachin has served the country through his skills, but now he should rethink of his form & fitness. He should not let his name go down. If so happens, he only will be responsible, not others. Lack of variety in the bowling is a problem that has to be overcome immediately. Mr.Chappel should be warned, not to split the team spirit. By making foolish comments & ugly games against the team members he is certainly demoralising the players. What ever he wants to do, he should clear before competant authority of BCCI.
Let's build hope again. Good luck Rahul!

Indian pacers without pace !!!!
by Varun Agrawal on Feb 02, 2006 04:39 PM

I think India immediately needs a bowling coach to shape up our Pacers because most of them are inexperianced and are not able to rise to the challenge.

Though we should not judge our team them just on basis of one test loss and one series. Rahul dravid needs some time as it was his first tour as a captain. But, our team surely needs the doseage of Killer instinct.
